The Role of Vanadia for the Selective Oxidation of Benzyl Alcohol over Heteropolymolybdate Supported on Alumina

A series of 12-molybdophosphoric acid (MPA) supported on V2O5 dispersed γ-Al2O3 catalysts with different vanadia loadings were prepared by impregnation and characterized by N2 adsorption-desorption, X-ray diffraction, temperature-programmed reduction, in situ laser Raman spectroscopy, UV-Vis diffused reflectance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and temperature-programmed desorption of NH3 techniques. Their catalytic activities were evaluated for the vapor phase aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol. The catalysts exhibited high catalytic activity and the conversion of benzyl alcohol depended on the vanadia content while the catalyst with 15 wt% V2O5 content showed optimum activity. The characterization results suggest the presence of well-dispersed V2O5 and partially disintegrated Keggin ions of MPA on the support. In situ Raman studies showed a reduced Mo(IV) species when the catalysts were calcined at high temperatures. The high oxidation activity of the catalysts is related to the synergistic effect between MPA and V2O5.

In this paper,the impact of communication time delays(CTDs)on combined load frequency control(LFC)and automatic voltage regulation(AVR)of a multi-area system with hybrid generation units is *** reveals that CTDs have significant effect on system performance.A classical PID controller is employed as a secondary regulator and its parametric gains are optimized with a differential evolution-artificial electric field algorithm(DE-AEFA).The superior performance of the presented algorithm is established by comparing with various optimization algorithms reported in the *** investigation is further extended to integration of redox flow batteries(RFBs)and interline power flow controller(IPFC)with *** reveals that IPFC and RFBs coordinated control enhances system dynamic ***,the robustness of the proposed control methodology is validated by sensitivity analysis during wide variations of system parameters and load.

FBG Based High Sensitive Pressure Sensor and Its Low-Cost Interrogation System With Enhanced Resolution

A fiber Bragg grating （FBG） pressure sensor with high sensitivity and resolution has been designed and demonstrated. The sensor is configured by firmly fixing the FBG with a metal bellows structure. The sensor works by means of measuring the Bragg wavelength shift of the FBG with respect to pressure change. From the experimental results, the pressure sensitivity of the sensor is found to be 90.6proJpsi, which is approximately 4000 times as that of a bare fiber Bragg grating. A very good linearity of 99.86% is observed between the Bragg wavelength of the FBG and applied pressure. The designed sensor shows good repeatability with a negligible hysteresis error of 4-0.29 psi. A low-cost interrogation system that includes a long period grating （LPG） and a photodiode （PD） accompanied with simple electronic circuitry is demonstrated for the FBG sensor, which enables the sensor to attain high resolution of up to 0.025 psi. Thermal-strain cross sensitivity of the FBG pressure sensor is compensated using a reference FBG temperature sensor. The designed sensor can be used for liquid level, specific gravity, and static/dynamic low pressure measurement applications.

This paper deals with the recovery of ilmenite mineral from red sediments of badlands topography and suggested flowsheet with material *** results of these investigations reveal that the red sediment samples contain 33.2%total heavy mineral,in which ilmenite mineral concentrate is 28.71%(by weight).The ilmenite concentrate recovered from red sediment sample by physical benefciation process,which included scrubbing,desliming,gravity concentration,magnetic and electrostatic separation,contains 99.41%grade with 97.3%*** ilmenite mineral concentrate recovered from red sediments is also suitable for industrial *** characterization studies on ilmenite reveal that the TiO2percentage is marginally increasing from 46.69%to 47.86%with increasing magnetic intensity from0.46 to 1.55 T.

Broom grass(Thysanolaena maxima)is an evergreen non-timber forest produce *** grass is now domesticated for cultivation by *** is a multi-purpose grass providing mainly inflorescence used as brooms for cleaning every household and also fodder for cattle,fuel wood for cooking and thus enhance farmers *** earlier pot culture study brought out that Claroideoglomus etunicatum as the best arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus(AMF)and Pantoea dispersa as the best plant growth promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR)for inoculating broom *** the present investigation,a pot culture experiment was conducted in glasshouse to study the effect of individual and combined inoculation of *** and *** on the growth of broom *** plant height,stem girth,biovolume index,plant dry weight,major and minor nutrient concentrations were significantly higher in plants inoculated with ***+*** compared to inoculation with either of *** was concluded that dual inoculation with the two selected beneficial microorganisms is best for enhancing the growth and yield of broom grass which in turn will improve the livelihood of the farmers.

Stress corrosion cracking （SCC） is degradation of mechanical properties under the combined action of stress and corrosive environment of the susceptible material. Out of eight series of aluminium alloys, 2xxx, 5xxx and 7xxx aluminium alloys are susceptible to SCC. Among them, 7xxx series aluminium alloys have specific application in aerospace, military and structural industries due to superior mechanical properties. In these high strength 7xxx aluminium alloys, SCC plays a vital factor of consideration, as these failures are catastrophic during the service. The understanding of SCC behaviour possesses critical challenge for this alloy. The main aim of this review paper is to understand the effect of constituent alloying elements on the response of microstructural variation in various heat-treated conditions on SCC behavior. Further, review was made for improving the SCC resistance using thermomechanical treatments and by surface modifications of 7xxx alloys. Apart from a brief review on SCC of 7xxx alloys, this paper presents the effect of stress and pre-strain, effect of constituent alloying elements in the alloy, and the effect of environments on SCC behaviour. In addition, the SCC behaviours of weldments, 7xxx metal matrix composites and also laser surface modifications were also reviewed.

A new steviol diterpene glycoside, 13-[(2-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl)oxy] ent-kaur-16-en-19-oic acid-{2-O-[6-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl)-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-β-D-glucopyranosyl} ester (1) has been isolated from the commercial extract of the leaves of Stevia rebaudi-ana Bertoni. Structure of the new compound has been established on the basis of extensive NMR spectroscopy (1H &13C, TOCSY, HMQC, and HMBC) and High Resolution (HR) mass spectroscopic data as well as enzymatic and acid hydrolysis studies.

Objective:To study the antioxidant efficacy of Commiphora mukul(***) gum resin ethanolic extract in streptozotocin(STZ) induced diabetic ***:The male Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into four groups of eight animals each:Control group(C),CM-treated control group(C_+CMEE),Diabetic control group(D),CM- treated diabetic group(D_+CMEE).Diabetes was induced by intraperitoneal injection of STZ(55 mg/kg/ bwt).After being confirmed the diabetic rats were treated with *** gum resin ethanolic extract(CMEE) for 60 *** biochemical estimations like antioxidant,oxidative stress marker enzymes and hepatic marker enzymes of tissues were ***:The diabetic rats showed increased level of enzymatic activities aspartate aminotransaminase(AST),alanine aminotransaminase(ALT) in liver and kidney and oxidative markers like lipid peroxidation(LPO) and protein oxidation(PO) in pancreas and heart. Antioxidant enzyme activities were significantly decreased in the pancreas and heart compared to control *** of CMEE(200 mg/kg bw) to diabetic rats for 60 days significantly reversed the above parameters towards ***:In conclusion,our data indicate the preventive role of *** against STZ-induced diabetic oxidative stress;hence this plant could be used as an adjuvant therapy for the prevention and/or management of diabetes and aggravated antioxidant status.

Simulation of Heavy Rainfall Events during Retreat Phase of Summer Monsoon Season over Parts of Andhra Pradesh

The main aim of this paper is to simulate monsoon heavy rainfall episodes that caused floods across some parts of Andhra Pradesh (AP) state, India during 29th September through 2nd October, 2009. A heavy rainfall quantity of 21 cm was observed near Amaravathi station (16.15°N;80.5°E) in Guntur district due to a meso-α low pressure system extended from the Bay of Bengal and widespread rainfall episodes were also appeared to many adjoining places in other three districts namely Mahaboob Nagar, Kurnool and Krishna in AP state simultaneously on 29th September. The rainy situation continued till 2nd October and caused floods over above districts of AP state which lead to a death toll of 33 people and heavy crop loss. To quantify the above catastrophic monsoon heavy precipitation events a high resolution (9 km) Weather Research and Forecast (WRF-ARW) model is centered at Amaravathi station to simulate rainfall episodes over the study region. In the present case study the simulated sensitive experiment highlights the dynamical characteristics of the meso-α system interms of circulation changes at different levels. Secondly, the thermodynamical characteristics for the generation of convective activity of this meso-α event in terms of Convective Available Potential Energy (CAPE) and Convective Inhibition Energy (CINE) are also simulated. Dynamical and thermodynamical simulated results support heavy rainfall episodes due to a low pressure system around Amaravathi station. Thus circulation changes, high CAPE and low CINE magnitudes have well defined not only the strength of meso-α system, but also quantum of rain-fall to a tune of 19 cm near Amaravathi station on 29th September. The observed rainfall was 21 cm on 29th September and thus this model underestimates rainfall about 9.5% not only at Amaravathi station, but also at other stations as well.
