C3 Glomerulopathy and Therapeutic Potential of C5 Complement Inhibitors

C3 glomerulopathy is a disease including both dense deposit disease and C3 glomerulonephritis has an estimated prevalence of 2 to 3 per million. Originally, these pathologies were defined as glomerular pathology characterized by accumulation of C3 with absent or scanty immunoglobulin deposition. The keystone defect in both of these pathologies is the unregulated hyperactivity of alternative complement pathway. Specifically, in C3 glomerulopathy patients, there exists a prolongation of C3 cleavage which causes the uncontrolled alternative pathway activation. Many treatments have been investigated for treating C3 glomerulopathy to little or no avail, including calcineurin inhibitors, plasmapharesis, and anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies. The next logical step is exploring the efficacy of anti-C5 monoclonal antibody therapy in C3 glomerulopathies to target the specific pathophysiology of this particular disease. Eculizumab is an anti-C5 monoclonal antibody that blocks the terminal step of complement activation. This drug has proven to be an effective treatment in other nephrologic pathologies that are caused by complement dysregulation. Here in this paper we discuss and present various case studies and clinical trials available that experiment with Eculizumab in patients with either dense deposit disease or C3 glomerulonephritis. In most of these patients, treatment with Eculizumab has demonstrated clinical and biochemical improvements in kidney function. These results provide encouraging evidence that suggest Eculizumab as a promising therapy for patients with C3 glomerulopathy and warrant that more extensive clinical trials can be designed as a next step.

Nummulites multiplicutiospiralis *** described and illustrated for both generations from a claystone of Lutetian age in the Middle Eocene Qarara Formation,Maghagha,Nile valley,*** considered to be Nummulites gizehensis,we describe this form as a new species based on diameter of the test and protoconch sizes,septal shape and *** primary feature of this species is spiral multiplication,seen in spiral *** species is also characterized morphologically by lenticular to flat tests with rounded periphery,wrinkled to broadly meandering septal filaments and few granules on the periphery in microspheric *** granules are spirally arranged on the septal filaments in megalospheric *** are longer than high and the spire is *** new taxon belongs to the Nummulites partschi Group,Subgroup *** coiling in the spiral may develop through ontogeny as in ***,the species which was considered to be an index species in the southern Tethys(Boukhary et al.,1982 and Boukhary et al.2010).The characters of the new species,as well as its retrogenesis and reflexive coiling,should be further studied in general in Nummulites spp.,to understand the importance of such characters phylogenetically.

Magnetohydrodynamic peristaltic flow of a hyperbolic tangent fluid in a vertical asymmetric channel with heat transfer

In the present paper we discuss the magnetohydrodynamic （MHD） peristaltic flow of a hyperbolic tangent fluid model in a vertical asymmetric channel under a zero Reynolds number and long wavelength approximation. Exact solution of the temperature equation in the absence of dissipation term has been computed and the analytical ex- pression for stream function and axial pressure gradient are established. The flow is analyzed in a wave frame of reference moving with the velocity of wave. The expression for pressure rise has been computed numerically. The physical features of pertinent parameters are analyzed by plotting graphs and discussed in detail.

The genus Assilina is a taxon within the Nummulitacea that appeared early in the Ypresian(Early Eocene)and continued until the end of the Lutetian(Middle Eocene).Thus,this taxon could be useful for the chronostratigraphy of this time *** Eocene rocks in southern Galala,Egypt are exposed at Bir *** section includes marl sediments with debris flow shallow-marine facies deposits laid down during early Eocene times and includes fossils of large foraminifera:Assilina placentula Deshayes,1838 and Nummulites burdigalensis de la Harpe,*** are systematically treated,described and *** burdigalensis belongs to the *** group,and Assilina placentula belongs to the group of Assilina *** assumption is based on qualitative morphology and quantitative *** species,together with Operculina libyca Schwager,1883,enable the assignment of the Bir Dakhl(D5-40 Section)to the Early Eocene,Ypresian(SBZ10 of Serra-Kiel et al.,1998)supporting an earlier opinion that Assilina placentula belongs to that zone in the calibrated larger foraminiferal biostratigraphic zonation.

Hybrid Effects of Thermal and Concentration Convection on Peristaltic Flow of Fourth Grade Nanofluids in an Inclined Tapered Channel: Applications of Double-Diffusivity

This article brings into focus the hybrid effects of thermal and concentration convection on peristaltic pumping of fourth grade nanofluids in an inclined tapered ***,the brief mathematical modelling of the fourth grade nanofluids is provided along with thermal and concentration *** Lubrication method is used to simplify the partial differential equations which are tremendously ***,analytical technique is applied to solve the differential equations that are strongly nonlinear in nature,and exact solutions of temperature,volume fraction of nanoparticles,and concentration are *** and graphical findings manifest the influence of various physical flow-quantity *** is observed that the nanoparticle fraction decreases because of the increasing values of Brownian motion parameter and Dufour parameter,whereas the behaviour of nanoparticle fraction is quite opposite for thermophoresis *** is also noted that the temperature profile decreases with increasing Brownian motion parameter values and rises with Dufour parameter ***,the concentration profile ascends with increasing thermophoresis parameter and Soret parameter values.

A simulation-based evaluation of the absolute and comparative approaches in a code compliance process from the energy use perspective: Cold-climate case study

Like many countries,Canada's building code includes a performance compliance path that compares the energy use of a proposed design to that of a reference ***,provinces across Canada are contemplating an alternative absolute energy use intensity ***,the effect of adopting the absolute approach on house design is not well *** study first developed a proof-of-concept methodology for a technical simulation-based comparison of the two ***,it performed a comparative analysis between the design outcomes of the two approaches using the developed *** this end,statistically representative archetypes were configured to comply with the prescriptive requirements of the building *** characteristics of each archetype were then varied through parametric study,and the resulting energy performance under the absolute and comparative approaches were *** results of this study indicated that the two approaches had different effects on the design and energy use of houses in heating-dominated climate *** performing better under the absolute approach consumed less energy and exhibited more compact architectural *** houses were also less sensitive to improvements in airtightness and envelope than houses performing better under the comparative *** results suggest that adopting the absolute approach based on the energy use intensity metric in building codes would encourage design and construction of houses with higher energy efficiency.

Recently,securing Copyright has become a hot research topic due to rapidly advancing information *** a host cover,watermarking methods are used to conceal or embed sensitive information messages in such a manner that it was undetectable to a human observer in contemporary *** media covers may often take any form,including audio,video,photos,even DNA data *** this work,we present a new methodology for watermarking to hide secret data into 3-D *** technique of blind extraction based on reversing the steps of the data embedding process is *** implemented technique uses the features of the 3-D object vertex’discrete cosine transform to embed a grayscale image with high *** coefficient of vertex and the encrypted picture pixels are used in the watermarking ***,the extraction approach is fully blind and is dependent on the backward steps of the encoding procedure to get the hidden *** distance,Euclidean distance,Manhattan distance,and the Cosine distance are used to evaluate and test the performance of the proposed *** visibility and imperceptibility of the proposed method are assessed to show the efficiency of our work compared to previous corresponding methods.

Several pests feed on leaves,stems,bases,and the entire plant,causing plant *** a result,it is vital to identify and eliminate the disease before causing any damage to *** detecting plant disease and treating it is pretty challenging in this *** processing is employed to detect plant disease since it requires much effort and an extended processing *** main goal of this study is to discover the disease that affects the plants by creating an image processing system that can recognize and classify four different forms of plant diseases,including Phytophthora infestans,Fusarium graminearum,Puccinia graminis,tomato yellow leaf ***,this work uses the Support vector machine(SVM)classifier to detect and classify the plant disease using various steps like image acquisition,Pre-processing,Segmentation,feature extraction,and *** gray level co-occurrence matrix(GLCM)and the local binary pattern features(LBP)are used to identify the disease-affected portion of the plant *** to experimental data,the proposed technology can correctly detect and diagnose plant sickness with a 97.2 percent accuracy.

Evaluation of adsorption capacities of humic acids extracted from Algerian soil on polyaniline for application to remove pollutants such as Cd(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) and characterization with cavity microelectrode

The adsorption capacities of new humic acids isolated from Yakouren forest （YHA） and Sahara （Tamenrasset： THA） soils （Algeria） and commercial humic acid （PFHA） on polyaniline emeraldine base （PEB） were studied at pH 6.6. Also the adsorption of heavy metals such as Cd 2＋ , Zn 2＋ and Ni 2＋ on humic acid-polyaniline systems （HA-PEB） was investigated at the same conditions. HA-PEB compounds were characterized by scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, infrared spectrometry and cavity microelectrode. In addition, batch adsorption and cavity microelectrode were used in the adsorption study of Cd 2＋ , Zn 2＋ and Ni 2＋ on HA-PEB. To develop biocaptors of polluting metals using a cavity microelectrode modified by HA-PEB systems, the adsorption kinetic and adsorption capacity were investigated. The SEM analysis showed that the presence of humic acid affected the PEB surface and caused the formation of a granular morphology. The maximum adsorption capacities （q max ） of PFHA, THA and YHA determined by adsorption isotherms were 91.31, 132.1 and 151.0 mg/g, respectively. Batch adsorption results showed that q max of Cd 2＋ , Zn 2＋ and Ni 2＋ on HA-PEB followed the order： THA-PEB YHA-PEB PFHA-PEB. The voltammograms obtained with HA-PEB modified cavity microelectrode showed the appearance of new redox couples reflecting the adsorption of HA on PEB. Metal-humic acid-polyaniline voltammograms were characterized by appearance of oxidation-reduction couples or reduction wave corresponding to metal. Finally, the result may be exploited to develop a biocaptor based on the cavity microelectrode amended by THA-PEB and YHA-PEB.
