In the present study,the thermal,mechanical,and biological properties of xAg/Ti-30Ta(x=0,0.41,0.82 and 2.48 at%)shape memory alloys(SmAs)were *** study was conducted using optical and scanning electron microscopy(SEm),X-ray diffractometry(XRD),compression test,and shape memory *** xAg/Ti-Ta was made using a powder metallurgy technique and microwave-sintering *** results revealed that the addition of Ag has a significant effect on the pore size and shape,whereas the smallest pore size of 11μm was found with the addition of 0.41 at%along with a relative density of 72%.The fracture stress and strain increased with the addition of Ag,reaching the minimum values around 0.41 at%***,this composition showed the maximum stress and strain at fracture ***,0.82 Ag/Ti-Ta shows more excellent corrosion resistance and biocompatibility than other percentages,obtaining almost the same behaviour of the pure Ti and Ti-6Al-4V alloys,which can be recommended for their promising and potential response for biomaterial applications.

The analysis of trace elements in human tooth for use as biomarkers continues to generate considerable interest in environmental and bioanalytical studies, medical diagnostic and forensic science. This study investigated concentrations of essential and toxic elements (Zn, Cu, Pb, Ni, Co and Cd) using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (FAAS) and (Na and K) flame atomic emission spectroscopy (FAES) in human tooth obtained from misan province, Iraq. The influence of smoking habits and born children on the levels of trace elements in additional to dental erosion by some beverages in the tooth samples were investigated. The overall of mean concentrations of (Zn 185.2 ppm, Cu 36.11 ppm, Pb 18.63 ppm, Ni 13.44 ppm, Co 3.45 ppm, and Cd 0.58 ppm, Na 11.683 ppm and K 115.27 ppm), (Zn 178.243 ppm, Cu 35.877 ppm, Pb 15.64 ppm, Ni 12.89 ppm, Co 3.421 ppm, Cd 0.455 ppm, Na 11,558.04 ppm and K 114.04 ppm) in smokers and non-smokers tooth groups respectively, (Zn 81.12 ppm, Cu 24.37 ppm, Pb 11.18 ppm, Ni 13.68 ppm, Co 3.32 ppm, Cd 0.44 ppm, Na 8227 ppm and K 76.42 ppm), (Zn 80.58 ppm, Cu 24.30 ppm, Pb 10.86 ppm, Ni 12.74 ppm, Co 2.71 ppm, Cd 0.23 ppm, Na 8165 ppm and K 72.80 ppm) in mothers and wives tooth groups respectively. However the w/w% loss of tooth immersed in following order of beverages (green tea, black tea, cinnamon, hibiscus, vinegar and citrus aurantifolia (9.09, 9.68, 12.36, 15.01, 16.77 and 17.38), (8.19, 8.25, 9.76, 13.37, 14.02 and 15.33) in smokers and non-smokers groups respectively, (11.25, 11.47, 13.30, 15.75, 19.58, and 20.91), (8.31, 7.96, 11.39, 13.49, 17.40, and 17.67) in mothers and wives groups respectively. However, there is a statistically significant variance found Zn (tcal 5.029, ttab 2.131), Pb (tcal 4.8538, ttab 2.131), Ni (tcal 5.243, ttab 2.131), Cd (tcal 3.9062, ttab 2.131) and Na (tcal 3.0832, ttab 2.131) between smokers

Background: Bed sores are major burden to hospital care and usually associated with worse prognosis and longer hospital stay. Aims: To evaluate whether simple biochemical inflammatory and nutritional markers would differ between those with bedsores and those without in elderly stroke patients and if there is a distinction between recent bed sore stroke patients and old bed sore stroke patients as regard these biomarkers. methods: 80 Stroke elderly patients were enrolled and divided into four groups: patients with recent stroke who developed bedsores, patients with recent stroke who did not develop bedsores, patients with old stroke who developed bedsores and patients with old stroke who did not develop bedsores. Nutritional markers (albumin, total protein, magnesium, iron, total iron binding capacity (TIBC), hemoglobin and cholesterol) and inflammatory markers (total leucocyte count, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio and ferritin) were compared between the four groups. Results: Concerning nutritional markers, albumin (P =min (P =mparison between chronic stroke with bed sore patients and chronic without bed sore patients. There is a difference between acute stroke with bed sore and chronic stroke with bed sore concerning albumin (P =min is lower while TG and TIBC are higher in those with acute stroke with bed sores. Thirty five Sediment samples were collected from three Northern Egyptian Lakes na.ely el Burullus, el manzala and el Bardawil to evaluate for the first time the concentrations of poorly studied technology-critical elements, na.ely Ge, Zr, mo, Sn, Sb, Hf, Ta, W and Ti, and how that may be linked to local water quality parameters and other geochemical factors. Inductively Coupled Plasma mass Spectrometry (ICP-mS) was used to determine element’s concentration. The results were compared with Upper Continental Crust (UCC) and Nile sediment (ANS). Lake sediments generally have relatively low contents of most elements. The average concentration of Zr, Hf, Ta and W are lower than UCC and ANS in three Lakes. el Bardawil Lake attained the lowest average concentration for all elements except mo. Correlation analysis revealed that water quality and geochemical properties did not play any important role affecting the metal distribution and the studied metals are generally not affected by the complex lacustrine system of these lakes and their spatial distribution still not affected by the different anthropogenic activates.

The synthesis and structural characterization of cobalt(II) complexes of amino acid Schiff bases was prepared from Salicylaldehyde and three amino acid (Valine, Leucine, and Isoleucine)?in basic medium. The metal complexes was synthesized by treating an ethanolic solution of the ligand with appropriate amount of metal salts [1:2] [m:L] ratio. The synthesized Schiff bases and their metal complexes have been investigated on the bases of elemental chemical analysis, FTIR, electronic spectral,?1HNmR,?13CNmR, mS, molar conductance and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The electronic spectra of the metal complexes and their magnetic susceptibility measurements suggest octahedral structures are the probable coordination geometries for the isolated complexes. The Schiff bases and their metal complexes were preliminary scanned against various strains of microbes to study their biological effect.

Influence of Symbiotic Interaction between Fungus, Virus, and Tomato Plant in Combating Drought Stress

The influence of the three-way interaction between the fungus (Curvularia protuberata), virus (CThTV), and tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) in combating drought stress was evaluated in this study. The plants in this greenhouse experiment were grown under conditions of 400 ± 150 μmol·m-2·s-1 photon flux density, 45% to 50% relative humidity (RH), and 30°C ± 2°C. Tomato seeds were germinated and inoculated with the combination of the fungus and virus at the seedling stage. The plants were allowed to grow for two weeks and randomly selected individuals were utilized. The selected plants were grown in one gallon pots containing organic potting soil. The treatments included non-symbiotic (NS), virus-free (VF), and symbiotic (An) plants. Each treatment received twelve samples and each sample was allowed to grow for an additional two weeks under drought stress. At that time, plants were exhibiting drought stress symptoms including visible wilting. Six samples from each treatment were utilized in determining selected physiological responses of tomato at pre-anthesis stage. The remaining six samples from each treatment were re-watered once and allowed to grow until they reached the anthesis stage. When they showed visible signs of wilting, the same physiological responses measured during pre-anthesis were conducted. The samples of each treatment were utilized at the end of each stage in determining photosynthetic rate, stomata conductance, photosynthetic pigments, water potential, and soluble sugar content. Plant growth, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, photosynthetic rate, stomata conductance, water potential, and soluble sugar content were similarly affected by the various treatments. However, carotenoids were significantly higher at pre-anthesis in the symbiotic plants in comparison to other treatments. Additionally, photosynthesis appeared to be significantly higher at anthesis compared to pre-anthesis for all treatments.

Objective:To determine the fatty acids profiles in female fish,Rhabdosargus sarba(***)from the Red Sea during the spawning ***:monthly individual *** were obtained from Bangalah market in Jeddah,Red Sea and transported to the laboratory in ice *** total length,standard length and weight were measured,fishes were *** were removed,weighed and 10 mL of concentrated hydrochloric acid were added to 10 g of the ovary in a conical flask and immersed in boiling water until the sample was dissolved and the fat was seen to collect on the *** conical was cooled and the fat was extracted by shaking with 30 mL of diethyl *** extract was bowled after allowing the layers to separate into a weighed *** extraction was repeated three times more and distilled off the solvent then the fat dried at 100℃,cooled and *** 50 mg of lipid was put in a tube,5 mL of methanolic sulphuric acid was added and 2 mL of benzene,the tube well closed and placed in water bath at 90℃for an hour and a *** cooling,8 mL water and 5 mL petroleum were added and shaked strongly and the ethereal layer was separated in a dry tube,evaporated to *** fatty acid methyl esters were analyzed by using a Hewlett Packard(HP 6890)chromatography,a split/splitless injector and flame ionization ***:In female ***,a total of 29 fatty acids were detected in ovaries throughout the spawning *** main fatty acid group in total lipid was saturated fatty acid(SFA,28.9%),followed by 23.5%of polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA)and 12.9%of monounsaturated fatty acids(mUFA).The dominant SFA were palmitic and stearic,the major mUFA were palmitoleic and oleic,and the major PUFA were C18:2 and C22:*** spawning stages,there were no significant differences in total SFA,mUFA and *** highest value of SFA was in late spawning(36.78%).However,the highest value of mUFA and PUFA was in spawning(16.70%and 24.96%respectively).During spa

midwives and nurses should use the standard precautions as the basic level of infection control precautions when delivering care to all patients, regardless of their presumed infection status. Therefore midwifes and nurses should have sound knowledge and compliance with standard precaution. Aim of the study: The study aimed to assess the level of the compliance of standard precautions among the midwives and nurses in the Palestinian Hospitals. method: A cross sectional study was conducted from may to June 2015 on 81 midwives and nurses from Palestinian hospitals. The data were collected from labor rooms and postpartum departments of Palestinian hospitals. Data were collected using pretested questionnaire on 81 midwives and nurses selected by convenience sample. Results: The current study showed that the average of standard precautions knowledge level and compliance are 74.6% and 83.8% respectively. There are an association between age, education, work experience, and compliance with standard precautions at p p midwives and nurses in the current study for both knowledge and compliance have high level regarding standard precautions. There is an association between age, education, work experience, and compliance with standard precautions. Recommendations: Knowledge of midwives and nurses should be updated;the importance of latest evidence-based practices of infection control in continuing education/training program should be emphasized;and training programs for newly midwives and nurses about standard precaution and at regular intervals should be provided.

Water is a strategically limited natural resource, and currently Iraq is in the grip of an extended drought period. It is needed to look for alternative water sources and work towards achieving high level of sustainability. measurements for gray water samples were carried out including pH, EC （electrical conductivity）, TDS （total dissolved solids）, TS （total solids）, TSS （total suspended solids）, DO （dissolved oxygen）, BOD5 （biochemical oxygen demand）, COD （chemical oxygen demand）, alkalinity, chlorides （Cl）, calcium （Ca）, sodium （Na）, magnesium （mg）, potassium （K）, lead （Pb）, TC （total coliforms）, TF （total fecal coliforms）, and nitrate （NO3）. The goals of this study are to estimate quantities of fresh water consumption and gray water generated in typical Baghdadian households, and to investigate gray water quality （physical, chemical and biological）. The major results can be summarized as follows：（1） The daily water consumption in Baghdad ranged from 75 Lpcd to 176 Lpcd with an average of 116 Lpcd; （2） the maximum daily consumption in Baghdad ranged from 124 Lpcd to 327 Lpcd with an average of 186 Lpcd; （3） the maximum hourly consumption in Baghdad ranged from 154 Lpcd to 900 Lpcd with an average of 308 Lpcd; （4） gray water generation in Baghdad ranged from 34 Lpcd to 139 Lpcd with an average of 68 Lpcd, and that gray water generated constituted 58% to 72% of total consumption.
