Widespread catastrophic fog episodes in polluted northern India have been attributed to tropical cyclone activity in the Bay of Bengal&Arabian Sea;however,limited studies have been conducted on the effect of tropical cyclone intensity(’T’Numbers)on different fog characteristics in Indo Gangetic Basin,Northern *** this study,different characteristics,including persistence,intensity,and areal extension,were analyzed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport,New delhi during 1998-99,2013-14,and 2016-17.A high-intensity tropical cyclone(Severe to Very Severe Cyclonic Storm)has been found to significantly increase the persistence,intensity,and areal extension of fog by inducing strong subsidence over the IGI Airport/Indo-Gangetic *** knowledge is vital for improving the short-term forecasting of fog in the IndoGangetic Basin of Northern India and will further support the Government agencies to take preventive safety measures and planning well in advance time.

The first measurements of cloud condensation nuclei （CCN） at five supersaturations were carried out onboard the research vessel ＂Sagar Kanya＂（cruise SK-296） from the south to the head-bay of the Bay of Bengal as part of the Continental Tropical Convergence Zone （CTCZ） Project during the Indian summer monsoon of 2012. In this paper, we assess the diurnal variation in CCN distributions at supersaturations from 0.2% to 1% （in steps of 0.2%） and the power-law fit at supersaturation of 1%. The diurnal pattern shows peaks in CCN concentration （NccN） at supersaturations from 0.2% to 1% between 0600 and 0700 LST （local standard time, UTC＋0530）, with relatively low concentrations between 1200 and 1400 LST, followed by a peak at around 1800 LST. The power-law fit for the CCN distribution at different supersaturation levels relates the empirical exponent （k） of supersaturation （%） and the Nccy at a supersaturation of 1%. The Nccy at a supersaturation of 0.4% is observed to vary from 702 cm-3 to 1289 cm-3, with a mean of 961 ＋ 161 cm-3 （95% confidence interval）, representing the CCN activity of marine air masses. Whereas, the mean Nccy of 1628 ＋ 193 cm-3 at a supersaturation of 1% is higher than anticipated for the marine background. When the number of CCN spectra is 1293, the value of k is 0.57 ± 0.03 （99% confidence interval） and its probability distribution shows cumulative counts significant at k ≈ 0.55 ± 0.25. The results are found to be better at representing the features of the marine environment （103 cm-3 and k ≈ 0.5） and useful for validating CCN closure studies for Indian sea regions.

Nanogrid is “The new ray of hope” for people living in remote isolated locations as well as where power supply reliability is poor. A nanogrid is a small power capacity distribution system with the ability to operate standalone or with a utility grid. It consists of local power production supplying local loads and energy storage systems. In this paper, an innovative inverter design is presented, which converts the power in a single stage. It is superior to the traditional two-stage inverter system and can supply hybrid loads (AC and dC loads) with a single input. System AC and dC bus voltages are regulated under both steady-state and dynamic load variation conditions in the nanogrid. Simulation results are presented which confirm the suitability of the inverter and its control strategy for a hybrid nanogrid system.

Using the variational method, we study the properties of a spin-down impurity immersed in a onedimensional(1 d) spin-up Fermi sea. With repulsive interactions between them, the impurity is dressed up by surrounding particles in Fermi sea and forms a polaron. We clearly calculate the binding energy, effective mass, momentum distribution, Tan contact, and pair correlation. Even in strong repulsive regimes, the results can agree with the exact Bethe Ansatz results. The repulsive polaron energy E+ is below Fermi energy EF and no negative effective masses are found in whole interaction regimes, unequal masses polarons are also calculated. We show a clear momentum distribution and calculate the Tan contact from three different aspects. Furthermore, we explore the particle-hole excitation and find that the hole terms in Fermi sea have a great influence on the polaron energy and contact in repulsive regime. These results show that the variational method can still be used effectively in 1 d repulsive polaron system.

Assessing the lethality of ‘early,’ potentially organ-confined prostate cancer （PCa） is one of the central controversies in modem-day urological clinical practice. Such cases are often considered for radical ‘curative’ treatment, although active surveillance may be equally appropriate for many men. Moreover, the balance between judicious intervention and overtreatment can be difficult to judge. The patient＇s age, comorbidities, family history and philosophy of self-health care can be weighed against clinical features such as the palpability of disease, the number and percentage of biopsy cores involved with the disease, histological grade, presenting prostate-specific antigen （PSA） and possible previous PSA kinetics. For many years, scientists and physicians have sought additional molecular factors that may be predictive for disease stage, progression and lethality. Usually, claims for a ‘new’ unique marker fall short of true clinical value. More often than not, such molecular markers are useful only in multivariate models. This review summarizes relevant molecular markers and models reported up to and including 2008.

Polytene chromosomes of an Indian Himalayan black fly Simulium (Nevermannia) praelargum (diptera:Simuliidae)

High quality polytene chromosome maps （n=3） of a Himalayan Simuliid Simulium praelargum datta, 1973 are presented and represent the first cytological description of a taxon found in the feuerborni group, subgenus Nevermannia. Polytene chromosomes one （I） and two （II） are metacentric, chromosome three （III） is submetacentric with the length of each chromosome occupying 37.25 %, 31.36 % and 31.34 % of the total complement length, respectively. Typical simuliid diagnostic intergeneric chromosomal markers are found within the polytene complement of this species. The nucleolar organizer （N.O.） is found at the base of the short arm of chromosome one （IS）, the Ring of Balbiani （R.B.）, double bubble （d.B.） and triad occur in the short arm of chromosome two （IIS）, the Parabalbiani Ring （EB.） and grey band （gb） occur in the long arm of chromosome two （IIL） and the Blister （BL） and Capsule （Ca） occur in the short arm of chromosome three （IIIS）.Terminal bands at the end of IIIS are heterochromatinized and present atypically with respect to other simuliid fauna. Populations studied so far are unique among the Simuliidae in that they exhibit chromosome structural monomorphism. These high resolution polytene chromosome maps will form the basis for future cytological characterization and phylogenetic comparisons amongst members of the feuerborni group
