Miniaturized optical benches process free-space light propagating in-plane with respect to the substrate and have a large variety of applications,including the coupling of light through an optical *** coupling efficiency is usually obtained using assembled micro-optical parts,which considerably increase the system cost and integration *** this work,we report a high coupling efficiency,monolithically integrated silicon micromirror with controlled three-dimensional(3D)curvature that is capable of manipulating optical beams propagating in the plane of the silicon *** on our theoretical modeling,a spherical micromirror with a microscale radius of curvature as small as twice the Gaussian beam Rayleigh range provides a 100%coupling efficiency over a relatively long optical path *** dimensionless parameters facilitates the elucidation of the role of key design parameters,including the mirror’s radii of curvature,independent of the wavelength.A micromachining method is presented for fabricating the 3D micromirror using fluorinated gas *** measured coupling efficiency was greater than 50%over a 200-mm optical path,compared to less than 10%afforded by a conventional flat micromirror,which was in good agreement with the *** the 3D micromirror,an optical cavity was formed with a round-trip diffraction loss of less than 0.4%,resulting in one order of magnitude enhancement in the measured quality factor.A nearly 100%coupling was also estimated when matching the sagittal and tangential radii of curvature of the presented micromirror’s *** reported class of 3D micromirrors may be an advantageous replacement for the optical lenses usually assembled in silicon photonics and optical benches by transforming them into real 3D monolithic systems while achieving wideband high coupling efficiency over submillimeter distances.

Learning from imbalanced data is one of the greatest challenging problems in binary classification,and this problem has gained more importance in recent *** the class distribution is imbalanced,classical machine learning algorithms tend to move strongly towards the majority class and disregard the ***,the accuracy may be high,but the model cannot recognize data instances in the minority class to classify them,leading to many *** methods have been proposed in the literature to handle the imbalance problem,but most are complicated and tend to simulate unnecessary *** this paper,we propose a simple oversampling method based on Multivariate Gaussian distribution and K-means clustering,called *** new method aims to avoid generating noise and control imbalances between and within *** experiments have been carried out with six classifiers and four oversampling *** results on different imbalanced datasets show that the proposed GK-Means outperforms other oversampling methods and improves classification performance as measured by f1-score and Accuracy.

Land use changes profoundly affect the equilibrium of soil organic carbon(soC)sequestration and greenhouse gas *** the current global climatic changes,it is vital to understand the influence of ecological restoration and conservation management on the dynamics of soC under different land uses,especially in erosion-endangered Loess ***,we investigated changes in soc through a suit of labile fractions,namely:light fraction organic C(LfOC),heavy fraction organic C(HfOC),coarse particulate organic C(CPOC),fine particulate organic C(fPOC),and dissolved organic C(DOC),from two forests i.e.,Robinia pseudoacacia(RP)and Platycladus orientalis(PO),with different ages,in comparison with farmland(fL).The SOC and STN contents significantly increased over 42 years in the RP forest where the contents of CPOC and fPOC were significantly higher than in the ***,total SOC and its labile fractions,in the studied land use types,significantly correlated with soil CacO3,pH,and STN contents,indicating their key roles in SoC *** results reported here from different vegetation with different ages provide a better understanding of sOC and STN alterations at different stages of vegetation *** findings suggest that long-term natural vegetation restoration could be an effective approach for SoC sequestration and soil conservation on the Loess soil.

Chickpea yield is decreasing day by day due to drought stress,which could be an immense risk for future food security in developing *** practices could be the most excellent approach to diminish loss due to this abiotic *** current research work was designed to explore the tolerance reaction of chickpea genotypes against management practices,through morphological and biochemical parameters and evaluate yield performance across drought prone location of *** genotypes BD-6048,BD-6045,BD-6090,BD-6092 and eight management practices,e.g.,severe water stress(SWS),i.e.,without irrigation,10 cm thick mulching with rice straw(MRS),10 cm thick mulching with water hyacinth(MWH),organic amendment through compost(OAC)@3 t ha−1,organic amendment through cow dung@5 t ha−1(OACD),organic amendment through poultry manure@2 t ha−1(OAPM),inorganic amendment through proline application(IAPA)as foliar spray and 16 h hydro-priming(HP).The study revealed that the genotypes BD-6048 showed excellent performance because of the highest chlorophyll,carotenoids,phosphorus,potassium,proline and protein *** highest pod number plant−1 also increased seed yield in *** management practices,IAPA increased relative water content,carotenoids,leaf phosphorus and potassium compared to other management practices and severe water ***,BD-6084 was selected as best genotype because of a significant increase in chlorophyll a and b,carotenoids,and relative water content with *** top performing genotypes can be used for releasing variety and cultivated for sustainable production in drought prone area of Bangladesh.

Sugarcane is one of the major important sugar yielding crops in *** an exhaustive crop,sugarcane removes a huge amount of plant nutrients from the ***,the combined use of organic and inorganic fertilizers can be a good approach to deal with nutrient depletion and promote sustainable crop production as well as improve soil ***,an attempt was made to identify the most fruitful and profitable integrated nutrient management on the aspects of growth,yield and quality of sugarcane in two consecutive growing *** treatments:T_(1)=Control,T_(2)=165:55:120:30:10:2.5:4 kg N:P:K:S:Mg:Zn:B ha^(−1),T_(3)=Poultry Litter(PL)at 5 t ha^(−1)+95:51:87:9:10:2.5:4 kg N:P:K:S:Mg:Zn:B ha^(−1),T_(4)=Cow Dung(CD)at 15 t ha^(−1)+36:52:60:17:10:2.5:4 kg N:P:K:S:Mg:Zn:B ha^(−1),T_(5)=Press Mud(PM)at 15 t ha^(−1)+10:50:43:0:10:2.5:4 kg N:P:K:S:Mg:Zn:B ha^(−1),T_(6)=Mustard Oil Cake(MOC)at 0.5 t ha^(−1)+140:54:115:25:10:2.5:4 kg N:P:K:S:Mg:Zn:B ha^(−1)and T_(7)=GM(Green Manure)at 5 t ha^(−1)+140:53:100:28:10:2.5:4 kg N:P:K:S:Mg:Zn:B ha^(−1)were used in this *** years data showed that treatment T_(3)produced the maximum amount of tillers,total dry matter yield,millable sugarcane,cane yield and sugar yield,followed by the T_(4)*** highest stalk heights were recorded in the T_(3)treatment,which was statistically similar to all other treatments except T_(1)and T_(2).The juice quality parameters viz.,brix and pol in cane were found significant in treatment T_(3)while the highest purity was obtained in the T_(7)*** the data of Jaggery(goor)quality parameters,the highest sucrose content,color transmittance,Jaggery(goor)recovery and the lowest ash content of Jaggery(goor)were observed in the T_(3)treatment,which was statistically similar to the T_(4)treatment in both *** highest cost of production was obtained from the T_(6)treatment while the highest gross return,net return and BCR were recorded in the T_(3)*** sig

To improve the phosphorus(P)recovery efficiency from livestock wastewater,a novel MgO doped mildewed corn biochar with thermal pre-puffing treatment(Mg-PBC)and without pre-puffing(Mg-BC)was synthesized and *** thermal-puffing pretreatment improved the effectiveness of metal soaking and MgO dispersion.P recovery time with Mg-PBC(7 h)was significantly shorter than that with Mg-BC(12 h).Moreover,Mg-PBC showed significantly higher P recovery capacity(241 mg g^(−1))than Mg-BC(96.6 mg g^(−1)).P recovery capacity of the Mg-PBC fitted to the Thomas model was 90.7 mg g^(−1),which was 4 times higher than that of Mg-BC(22.9 mg g^(−1))under column test *** mechanisms involved in P recovery included precipitation,surface complexation,and electrostatic *** adsorption,both Mg-BC and Mg-PBC showed relatively low regeneration *** P loaded Mg-BC(Mg-BC-P)and Mg-PBC(Mg-PBC-P),the later particularly,obviously increased the available P content and promoted plant *** release of P increased with time in the Mg-PBC-P treated soil,while it decreased with time in the P fertilizer treated soil.A cost-benefit analysis revealed that thermal-puffing pretreatment greatly increased the profit of MgO doped biochar from−0.66 to 5.90 US$kg^(−1).These findings highlight that biomass pre-puffing is a feasible treatment to produce MgO modified biochar and to recover P from livestock wastewater,and that the Mg-PBC-P can be used as a slow-release P fertilizer.

Crystal morphology of metal oxides in engineered metal-biochar composites governs the removal of phosphorus(P)from aqueous *** to our best knowledge,preparation of bio-assembled MgO-coated biochar and its application for the removal of P from solutions and kitchen waste fermentation liquids have not yet been ***,in this study,a needle-like MgO particle coated tea waste biochar composite(MTC)was prepared through a novel biological assembly and template elimination *** produced MTC was used as an adsorbent for removing P from a synthetic solution and real kitchen waste fermentation *** maximum P sorption capacities of the MTC,deduced from the Langmuir model,were 58.80 mg g^(−1) from the solution at pH 7 and 192.8 mg g^(−1) from the fermentation liquid at pH *** increase of ionic strength(0-0.1 mol L^(−1) NaNO_(3))reduced P removal efficiency from 98.53%to 93.01%in the synthetic solution but had no significant impact on P removal from the fermentation *** of MgHPO4 and Mg(H2PO4)2(76.5%),ligand exchange(18.0%),and electrostatic attraction(5.5%)were the potential mechanisms for P sorption from the synthetic solution,while struvite formation(57.6%)and ligand exchange(42.2%)governed the sorption of P from the kitchen waste fermentation *** to previously reported MgO-biochar composites,MTC had a lower P sorption capacity in phosphate solution but a higher P sorption capacity in fermentation ***,the studied MTC could be used as an effective candidate for the removal of P from aqueous environments,and especially from the fermentation *** the future,it will be necessary to systematically compare the performance of metal-biochar composites with different metal oxide crystal morphology for P removal from different types of wastewater.

Comparison on Efficacy and Safety of Three Inpatient Insulin Regimens for Management of Non-Critical Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

Background: Hyperglycemia in hospitalized patients is associated with poor clinical outcomes. Scheduled Subcutaneous Insulin therapy has been recommended for better glycemic control. Aims: To compare efficacy and safety of traditional sliding scale insulin (SSI) versus modified 70/30 insulin versus basal plus supplemental scale (SS) insulin regimens for glycemic control of inpatients with diabetes. Methods: In a prospective trial, 62 patients with diabetes were randomized to receive either hospital SSI (N = 22), or twice daily 70/30 insulin plus supplemental lunchtime insulin for BG ≥ 150 mg/dL (N = 21) or once every night glargine plus prandial glulisine for BG ≥ 150 mg/dL (N = 19). 70/30 insulin and glargine were started respectively at 0.4 and 0.2 U/kg/day for BG ≤ 200 mg/dL or 0.5 and 0.3 U/kg/day for BG above 200 mg/dL. Results: Starting at BG level of 204 ± 68, 200 ± 50 and 241 ± 94 mg/dL in SSI, 70/30 insulin and glargine/glulisine groups respectively, (f(2,35.47) = 1.467, p = 0.244, Welch test), mean daily BG after first day of hospitalization was statistically significant (f(2,35.58) = 7.043, p = 0.003, Welch test) lower in 70/30 insulin group (171 ± 38 mg/dL) compared to (218 ± 71 mg/dL) in SSI group (p = 0.026) and (225 ± 65 mg/dL) in glargine/glulisine group (p = 0.01). Conclusions: With poorly educated nursing staff, basal plus SS insulin failed to provide adequate glycemic control. However, tailored 70/30 insulin regimen resulted in statistically significant glycemic control compared to traditional SSI.
