Photobiomodulation therapy assisted orthodontic tooth movement:potential implications,challenges,and new perspectives

Over the past decade,dramatic progress has been made in dental research areas involving laser *** photobiomodulatory effect of laser light regulates the behavior of periodontal tissues and promotes damaged tissues to heal ***,photobiomodulation therapy(PBMT),a non-invasive treatment,when applied in orthodontics,contributes to alleviating pain and reducing inflammation induced by orthodontic forces,along with improving tissue healing ***,PBMT is attracting more attention as a possible approach to prevent the incidence of orthodontically induced inflammatory root resorption(OIIRR)during orthodontic treatment(OT)due to its capacity to modulate inflammatory,apoptotic,and anti-antioxidant ***,a systematic review revealed that PBMT has only a moderate grade of evidence-based effectiveness during orthodontic tooth movement(OTM)in relation to OIIRR,casting doubt on its beneficial *** PBMT-assisted orthodontics,delivering sufficient energy to the tooth root to achieve optimal stimulation is challenging due to the exponential attenuation of light penetration in periodontal *** penetration of light to the root surface is another crucial unknown *** the penetration depth and distribution of light in periodontal tissues are ***,advanced approaches specific to orthodontic application of PBMT need to be established to overcome these *** review explores possibilities for improving the application and effectiveness of PBMT during *** aim was to investigate the current evidence related to the underlying mechanisms of action of PBMT on various periodontal tissues and cells,with a special focus on immunomodulatory effects during OTM.

口腔科激光治疗的研究在过去的十年里取得了巨大的进展。激光引发的光子生物调节效应能够调控牙周组织的生物学特性，促进损伤牙周组织更快愈合。光子生物调节疗法（PBMT）作为一种非侵入性治疗方式，有助于减轻正畸治疗引起的疼痛和牙周组织炎症，同时促进牙周组织愈合。此外，PBMT作为一种可通过改善炎症、调节细胞凋亡和抗氧化反应等生物学作用预防正畸导致的炎性牙根吸收（OIIRR）的新方法，受到越来越多研究者的关注。但也有研究表明，PBMT在正畸牙齿移动（OTM）过程中与OIIRR相关性的循证有效性仅为中等等级，这是由于光子在牙周组织中的穿透呈现指数衰减，难以向牙根表面提供足够的、适量的能量以达到最佳效果；另一方面，光是否能穿透牙周组织到达牙根表面也是影响激光在OIIRR治疗中的另外一个关键未知因素，光子在牙周组织中的穿透深度和能量分布强度尚不可知。因此，研究者需要克服以上局限性，以开发PBMT在正畸中的应用方法。本综述旨在阐述PBMT在OTM和预防OIIRR中的潜在作用及其相关机制，尤其是在OTM期间的免疫调节作用。

目的：评价青年人群的口腔健康状况、正畸治疗状况及正畸治疗需要。材料与方法：研究对象为121名口腔专业一年级学生，其中51人无正畸史，其他70名学生分别接受过由正畸专科医师或全科牙医提供的正畸治疗。记录龋失补指数DMF（T）和龋失指数DM（T）。分析牙骀模型并评价正畸治疗需要指数（IOTN）中的口腔健康状况指标（DHC）。结果：与未接受过正畸治疗的人群相比．经过正畸治疗人群的DMF（T）．DM（T）指数显著降低。其中接受正畸专科医师矫治的病例表现出更多的I类关系及较少的拥挤，矫治后的正畸治疗需要指数也较低．仅29％的病例还存在中度至高度的正畸治疗需要（DHC指标的Ⅲ～Ⅴ级）．而全科牙医矫治的病例中该比例为59％。结论：正畸治疗能改善患者的口腔健康状况。与全科牙医矫治的病例相比，由正畸专科医师矫治病例的效果更好、需要再次治疗的比例更低。

The application of a gate voltage to control the superconducting current flowing through a nanoscale superconducting constriction,named as gate-controlled supercurrent(GCS),has raised great interest for fundamental and technological *** gain a deeper understanding of this effect and develop superconducting technologies based on it,the material and physical parameters crucial for the GCS effect must be ***-down fabrication protocols should also be optimized to increase device scalability,although studies suggest that top-down fabricated devices are more resilient to show a ***,we investigate gated superconducting nanobridges made with a top-down fabrication process from thin films of the noncentrosymmetric superconductor niobium rhenium with varying ratios of the constituents(NbRe).Unlike other devices previously reported and made with a top-down approach,our NbRe devices systematically exhibit a GCS effect when they were fabricated from NbRe thin films with small grain size and etched in specific *** observations pave the way for the realization of top-down-made GCS devices with high *** results also imply that physical parameters like structural disorder and surface physical properties of the nanobridges,which can be in turn modified by the fabrication process,are crucial for a GCS observation,providing therefore also important insights into the physics underlying the GCS effect.

Immune-based therapies such as immune checkpoint inhibitors have revolutionized the systemic treatment of various cancer *** therapeutic application of monoclonal antibodies targeting inhibitory pathways such as programmed cell death-1(PD-1)/programmed cell death ligand 1(PD-L1)and CTLA-4 to cells of the adaptive immune system has recently been shown to generate meaningful improvement in the clinical outcome of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Nevertheless,current immunotherapeutic approaches induce durable responses in only a subset of HCC *** immunologic mechanisms such as chronic inflammation due to chronic viral hepatitis or alcoholic and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease play a crucial role in the initiation,development,and progression of HCC,it is important to understand the underlying mechanisms shaping the unique tumor microenvironment of liver *** liver is an immunologic organ with large populations of innate and innate-like immune cells and is exposed to bacterial,viral,and fungal antigens through the gut-liver ***,we summarize and highlight the role of these cells in liver cancer and propose strategies to therapeutically target *** also discuss current immunotherapeutic strategies in HCC and outline recent advances in our understanding of how the therapeutic potential of these agents might be enhanced.

Strongyloides stercoralis prevalence and diagnostics in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic

Background:Despite the high prevalence of strongyloidiasis in the Laotian population,Laotian hospitals still lack diagnostic capacity to appropriately diagnose Strongyloides stercoralis *** cross-sectional hospital-based study was conducted to assess the prevalence of Strongyloides stercoralis infection among hospitalized patients treated at Mahosot Hospital,the primary reference hospital of Lao People’s Democratic Republic(Lao PDR),and to validate feasible methods for diagnosing *** infection at hospital’s ***:Between September and December 2018,stool samples of 104 inpatients were investigated for *** infection by wet smear,Baermann technique,Koga Agar plate culture(KAPC),and real-time detection polymerase chain reaction(RTD-PCR)at the Infectious Diseases Ward of the Mahosot Hospital in *** sensitivity,the specificity,the negative predictive value(NPV)of each diagnostic test,as well as their combination(s)was calculated using a composite reference standard(CRS).The correlation of the different test methods was assessed by chi-square or Fisher’s exact ***’s kappa coefficient was used to assess the diagnostic agreement of the different test ***:The overall prevalence of *** infections among the study population was 33.4%.The cumulative infection prevalence statistically significantly increased from the lowest age group of 40 years and below(22.4%),to the medium(40.0%)and to the oldest age group of 61 year and above(72.7%)(P=0.003).The cumulative infection prevalence of CRS was considerably higher in male(40.4%)compared to female patients(28.1%),but not statistically different(P=0.184).The diagnostic sensitivity of Baermann technique,KAPC,RTD-PCR,and the combination of Baermann technique and KAPC were 60.0,60.0,74.3,and 77.1%,*** 13 patients(37.1%)of the total 35 *** patients diagnosed with any technique had a simultaneously positive diagnostic test with Baer

Nucleic acid extraction(NAE)is an essential component of many assays used for diagnostic and research *** a pandemic,performing NAE is associated with significant challenges due to material shortages,high costs,limited laboratory facilities,and the time *** delays patient diagnosis and treatment,particularly in countries that do not produce NAE ***,we tested several procedures to speed up the extraction process using common laboratory reagents,finding that heat-based nucleic acid extraction of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-COV2)is a detection method that can be easily implemented in laboratories,even those without centrifugation facilities.

Protein-losing enteropathy(PLE) is characterized by loss of serum proteins into the gastrointestinal tract. It may lead to hypoproteinemia and clinically present as protein deficiency edema, ascites, pleural or pericardial effusion and/or malnutrition. In most cases the site of protein loss is the small intestine. Here we present an unusual case of severe PLE in a 55-year old female with a one-year history of recurrent diarrhea, crampy abdominal pain, and peripheral edema. Endoscopy and MRI showed a diffuse inflammatory thickening of the sigmoid colon and the rectum. Surgical resection of the involved colon was performed and the symptoms were significantly resolved. The final histologic evaluation confirmed a diagnosis of a pseudomembranous colitis with cap polyposis-like features. Such a cause of PLE has never been described before.

Many companies work in projects and the number of companies working in multi-project management is growing *** Germany and Europe there are a large number of companies that are active in this area depending on the ***,there is also the question if it makes sense in addition to the organization and structure,to implement agile *** in project management refers not only to the organizational structure(agile organization)and processes(agile working),but also to the behavior and attitudes of the organization members(agile mindset)(Häusling&Rutz,2017).Executives in particular are faced with radically changed framework conditions in an agile environment:Agile leadership requires a new understanding of leadership and a new leadership *** leadership models bring with them new leadership principles and leadership *** paper shows that by introducing the components of agile leadership,a company can lower its fluctuation rate and keep it stable.A 24-month study in a company working in the fields,energy construction/line layout/communication technology industry,showed that the fluctuation rate could be reduced and kept stable from an average of 14.85%after the introduction of agile leadership to 8.6%.
