Nitrogen Removal Performance of Continuous Anoxic/Oxic System Using Activated Sludge and Sludge Biofilms

Nitrogen is the most important component for living beings while the excessive discharge of organic and inorganic nitrogen may create severe environmental *** this study,a continuous anoxic/oxic(A/O)reactor adopting activated sludge and sludge biofilms in the anoxic and oxic zones was applied for total nitrogen(TN)and chemical oxygen demand(COD)removal,and the efficiencies of nitrification and denitrification were compared as *** showed that when using activated sludge,the effluent concentrations of NH_(4)^(+)-N,NO_(3)^(-)-N,NO_(2)^(-)-N,TN and COD were inconsistent and fluctuated greatly,and the removal efficiencies of corresponding nitrification,denitrification and TN were also unstable;the obtained average COD removal efficiency was 85%.While using sludge biofilms,the acquired effluent concentrations of NH^(+)_(4)-N,NO^(-)_(3)-N,NO_(2)^(-)-N,TN and COD became stable and *** nitrification,denitrification,TN and COD removal efficiencies were 96%,84%and 65%and 94%,*** community analysis of sludge biofilms indicated that the genus Arcobacter was the major denitrifiers in the anoxic zone with relative abundance of 76.1%,and in the oxic zone the abundances of Acinetobacter,Hydrogenophaga and Nitrospira responsible for complete nitrification were 20.05%,7.6%and 3.7%*** high abundance of nitrifying bacteria and denitrifiers were related with the high and stable nitrogen and COD removal.

Introduction:Nonmetric dental traits have a crucial role in ethnic classification of populations that help in forensic racial *** studies have demonstrated the differences in the expression and frequency of dental traits between various ethnic groups for ancestry determination in the context of forensic dental *** present study is an attempt to assess the frequency and variation in nonmetric traits for establishing ethnicity in the Vidarbha ***:The aim of the study was to assess the frequency and variation of nonmetric traits in permanent teeth for establishing ethnicity in the Vidarbha *** and Methods:Participants of the Vidarbha subpopulation were selected by random sampling ***,premolars,and incisors were evaluated for frequency of nonmetric traits,and variations were graded according to Dentoanthropological System of State University of Arizona *** statistics,Chi-square test,and Student’s t-test were used for analysis of ***:The most common occlusal morphology in mandibular first and second molar was 5 cusp and 4 cusp,respectively,with the“+”groove *** 3 and cusp 4 were observed frequently in the maxillary *** lingual cusp was most commonly seen in mandibular premolars show while incisors showed faint ***:Our study concludes that nonmetric traits were present and showed variation in permanent maxillary and mandibular teeth among the Vidarbha *** 5 and Cusp 4 in first and second mandibular molars,respectively,groove pattern“+”and grade 1 protostylid were the most frequent grades observed in permanent mandibular *** lingual cusp was most commonly seen in mandibular premolars and faint shoveling was a notable feature in incisors of this population.

Collecting umbilical cord stem cells is widely practiced due to its numerous benefits. Over the past decade, umbilical cord stem cells (UCSCs) have shown effectiveness in treating various conditions, such as bone pathologies, neuropsychiatry disorders, hereditary diseases, and metabolic disorders. However, factors like immunization affect the quantity and quality of cord harvesting. Studies suggest that antibodies from the mother pass through the umbilical cord to protect the infant against infections. Cleaning the umbilical cord before stem cell extraction is crucial to maintain sterility and cell integrity. Vaccinating a female donor, including for COVID-19, typically does not directly affect the stem cells. Although vaccines aim to trigger an immunological response, they generally do not affect the donor’s stem cells.

Ferroresonance Overvoltage Mitigation Using STATCOM for Grid-connected Wind Energy Conversion Systems

We present the ferroresonance overvoltage mitigation concerning the power systems of the grid-connectcd wind energy conversion systems(WECSs).WECS is considered based on a doubly-fed induction generator(DFIG).Ferroresonance overvoltage associated with a single-pole outage of the line breaker is mitigated by fast regulating the reactive power using the static compensator(STATCOM).STATCOM controller is introduced,in which t>\o incorporated proportional-integral(PI)controllers are optimally tuned using a modified flow-er pollination algorithm(MFPA)as an optimization *** show the capability of the proposed STATCOM controller in mitigating the ferroresonance overvoltage,two test cases are introduced,which are based on the interconnection status of the power transformer used with the grid-connected *** results show that the ferroresonance disturbance can occur for the power transformers installed in the wind farms although the transformer terminals are interconnected,and neither side of the transformer is ***,as a mitigation method of ferroresonance overvoltage,the proposed STATCOM controller succeeds in improving the system voltage profile and speed profile of the wind turbine as well as protecting the system components against the ferroresonance overvoltage.

Modeling Rogowski Coils for Monitoring Surge Arrester Discharge Currents

Rogowski coils(RCs)are widely used to measure power or high frequency currents based on their *** this paper,two types of RCs that are circular(traditional)and cylindrical shapes wound using wire covered by varnish are *** construction is carried out to be suitable for monitoring the discharge current of the surge arrester installed in the distribution *** high frequency RC modeling for both types considering transfer function is ***-integrating for both types is ***,the experimental tests using function generator for both coils are carried out to identify the parameters of the transfer function representing the introduced *** measured signals for current and induced voltages are denoised for the parameter identification *** denoised process is achieved using the MATLAB code‘wdenoise’while the parameters are estimated using the system identification *** of the proposed model is achieved using experimental results for the two *** sensitivity of the two coils is investigated based on the induced output *** application concerning the two coils for monitoring the discharge current of the surge arrester is *** results confirm the accuracy of the introduced RC model,as well as the performance of the cylindrical shape,is better than the traditional *** simulation is carried out using MATLAB and ATPDraw programs.

Two-dimensional transient laminar natural convection in a square cavity containing a porous medium and inclined at an angle of 30°is investigated *** vertical walls are differentially heated,and the horizontal walls are *** effect of Rayleigh number on heat transfer and on the road to chaos is *** natural heat transfer and the Darcy Brinkman equations are solved by using a finite volume method and a Tri Diagonal Matrix Algorithm(TDMA).The results are obtained for a porosity equal to 0.45,a Darcy number and a Prandtl respectively equal to 10^(-3)and 0.71;they are analyzed in terms of streamlines,isotherms,phase portrait,attractors,and spectra amplitude as a function of the Rayleigh *** is found that,as Rayleigh number increases,the natural convection changes from a steady state to a time-periodic state and finally to a chaotic condition.

Adoption of the model for end-stage liver disease score by Organ Procurement and Transplant Network(OPTN)deceased donor liver allocation policy in 2002 has led to an increase in the number of simultaneous liver kidney(SLK)*** kidney function recovery following liver transplantation is difficult to predict,al ocation of the kidney for SLK trans-plantation thus far has not been based on much rationale and *** of OPTN policy towards SLK organ allocation has resulted in great variations among transplant centers regarding SLK *** use of kidneys towards SLK transplantation diverts deceased donor kidneys away from candidates awaiting kidney-alone *** OPTN/United Network of Organ Sharing has imple-mented medical eligibility criteria for adult SLK transplantation which also includes a concept of safety *** of the new policy is a move in a positive direction,providing consistency in our practice and evidence-based guidelines in selecting candidates for SLK *** policy needs to be monitored prospectively and modified based on new data that wil emerge over *** review outlines the literature on SLK transplantation and efforts towards developing rational policy on SLK organ allocation.
