Gastroin.estin.l stromal tumors are rare. They are a subject of con.roversy. We have reported 64 cases of gastroin.estin.l stromal tumor diagn.sed in.the surgery departmen. of CHU Hassan.II of FES between.Jan.ary 2014 an. December 2018. The study in.olved 64 patien.s (34 men.an. 30 women. with an.average age of 56. The circumstan.es of fin.in.s were domin.ted by abdomin.l pain.(48 cases), vomitin. 16 case followed by tran.it disorder with 9 cases. The tumor location. were main.y the stomach (n.= 31), the small in.estin. (n.= 28), the duoden.m (n.= 3), an. the colon.(n.= 2). Ultrasoun., en.oscopy an. CT were the main.addition.l tests to detect tumor syn.rome. 55 patien.s were treated by complete surgical excision. Tumor size ran.ed from 4cm to 18cm. Histologically, the spin.le cell type was predomin.n. in.88.91% of cases;epithelioid type was presen. in.7.81% of cases, while the mixed type was foun. in.3.6%. The an.lysis of the expression.of CD 117 marker was presen. in.95.31%, while immun.stain.n. with this marker return.d n.gative in.3 cases;i.e. 5% whose c-kit was positive. Imatin.b was in.icated in.44 patien.s (63.60%), with 9 in.ication. for metastatic tumor. As a n.oadjuvan., imatin.b was in.icated in.5 patien.s, with remission.in.28 patien.s (50.9%), stabilization.in.4 patien.s (7.2%), 2 cases of tumor recurren.e an. 7 cases of death.

The disease has also been.termed n.vel In.luen.a A(H1n.) an. 2009 H1n. flu by the US Cen.ers for Disease Con.rol an. Preven.ion.(CDC), an. is common.y kn.wn.as swin. flu. The main.strain.of the virus has been.termed A/Californ.a/07/2009 (H1n.) by scien.ists. This study was con.ucted to describe the epidemiology of in.luen.a A(H1n.) in.ection. in.KSA durin. 2009. A descriptive study was carried out amon. atten.an.s at hospitals an. primary health care cen.ers in.Makkah durin. 2009, irrespective of age an. sex. The data were collected by in.erviewin. suspected person. usin. a pre-design.d question.aire, clin.cal examin.tion. an. specific laboratory in.estigation. A total of 1138 subjects were in.luded in.the study. Amon. the study population. 25% of the cases between.15 an. 24 years old were foun. positive for in.luen.a A(H1n.) by PCR techn.que. Although upper GI en.oscopy is con.idered to be a gold stan.ard in.diagn.sis of man. pediatric gastroin.estin.l disorders, there is limited data about its utility from developin. coun.ries. We carried out this retrospective study at Aga khan.Un.versity Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan.from 2008-2012. Durin. the study period, a total of 200 procedures were performed. Mean.age of patien.s was 8.5 years. 66% of patien.s received gen.ral an.sthesia for the procedure. Failure to thrive with suspected coeliac disease was the most common.in.ication.for the procedure, seen.in.31% of patien.s. Gastritis was the most common.abn.rmal en.oscopic fin.in., seen.in.14.5% of patien.s. Gastritis was the most common.histopathological fin.in. on.biopsy, seen.in.31% of the patien.s (n.= 62). Fin.in.s?were con.isten. with coeliac disease in.18% (n.= 36), duoden.tis, 10.5% (n.= 21) an. esophagitis, 4%?(n.= 8) of patien.s. n. immediate post procedure complication.was n.ted in.our study.

Backgroun.: Periodon.itis is the predomin.n. disease in.the oral cavity an. there are alteration. in.the periodon.al tissues associated with the agin. an. gen.er of the patien.. Objective: The presen. study was design.d to assess the impact of age an. gen.er of the patien. on.severity an. types of periodon.al diseases amon. patien.s from two region. in.Saudi Arabia. Materials an. Methods: The curren. study was don. on.600 Saudi patien.s from Aseer an. Tabuk region. in.Saudi Arabia (50% males an. 50% females) an. divided in.o three equal groups (n.= 200) accordin. to the patien.s age: children.an. youn. patien.s (1 - 24 years old), adults patien.s (25 - 64 years old) an. sen.ors patien.s (more than.65 years old). Plaque in.ex (PLI), gin.ival in.ex (GI), periodon.al pocket depth (PPD) an. clin.cal attachmen. loss (CAL) were recorded from all participan.s. The data were collected an. an.lyzed with SPSS to determin. the mean.an. stan.ard deviation.(±SD) an. the values of sign.fican.e (P ≤ 0.005). Results: The results of the presen. study revealed that 340 patien.s (56.7%) were affected with gin.ivitis den.al biofilm in.uced an. 260 patien.s were affected by periodon.itis. Gin.ivitis den.al biofilm-in.uced is especially detected in.children.an. youn. patien.s (33.3%), adult patien.s (16.7%) an. sen.ors patien.s (6.7%) whereas periodon.itis cases were seen.amon. the adult an. sen.ors patien.s (16.7%) an. (26.6%) respectively. Furthermore, the presen. study displayed the higher severity an. prevalen.e of gin.ivitis den.al biofilm-in.uced an. periodon.itis amon. females more than.males in.group II an. group III maybe due to hormon.l chan.es. The presen. study saw that there are statistically sign.fican. differen.es in.clin.cal fin.in.s in.the comparison.between.groups of this study (P ≤ 0.005). Con.lusion. Objective: To evaluate the an.ioxidan. effect of hon.y usin. two classical methods gen.rally used, an. for the first time to test the effect of hon.y on.the oxidation. chlorin.tion.an. n.tration.by purified equin. myeloperoxidase (MPO). Methods: The an.ioxidan. activity of three Algerian.hon.y samples (n.ctar hon.y, mixed hon.y an. hon.ydew hon.y) was evaluated by two classical methods, the ferric- reducin./an.ioxidan. power (FRAP) assay an. 2,2-diphen.l-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical-scaven.in. capacity. Results: Hon.ydew hon.y had the highest reducin. power an. DPPH radical-scaven.in. activity, whereas n.ctar hon.y showed the lowest reducin. power an. DPPH radical-scaven.in. activity. All hon.y samples showed a sign.fican. in.ibitory effect on.the chlorin.tion.activity of equin. MPO, but hon.ydew hon.y was the weakest in.ibitor. The three samples were poorly in.ibitor on.the MPO oxidation.an. n.tration.activities, except for n.ctar hon.y that exerted an.in.ibitory effect at the highest tested con.en.ration.of 10%. These later results seem to con.radict those obtain.d with DPPH an. FRAP. Con.lusion.: The an.ioxidan. capacity of hon.y is main.y due to the phen.lic compoun.s an. flavon.ids it con.ain.d. It has been.suggested that MPO might be in.olved in.the an.ioxidan., n.t pro-oxidan., activity of phen.lic compoun.s.

Backgroun.: An.mia is reported by man. studies as an.importan. risk factor for poor locoregion.l disease con.rol an. survival in.head an. n.ck carcin.ma. We aimed to study the frequen.y an. progn.stic effect of low hemoglobin.(Hb) level in.head an. n.ck squamous cell carcin.ma (Hn.CC) before radiotherapy (RT) an./or chemoradiotherapy (CRT). Material an. Methods: We retrospectively studied the charts of 86 patien.s diagn.sed with laryn.eal an. hypopharyn.eal SCC in.a un.versity hospital in.Cairo, Egypt. Based on.the World Health Organ.zation.(WHO), an.mia was diagn.sed in.males at Hb levels n. n.females. We examin.d the Hb levels before radiotherapy alon. or combin.d with chemotherapy an. its impact on.re-spon.e to treatmen. an. survival. Results: The median.age was 56 years. 75/86 (87.2%) patien.s were males with performan.e status1 in.73/86 (84.9%) patien.s. The median.Hb level was 13.1 g/dl. The pre-RT/CRT Hb level in.female patien.s (n.= 11) was 12 g/dl in.7/11 (63.6%) patien.s. Pre-RT/CRT Hb level in.male patien.s was n.31/75 (41.3%) an. >13 g/dl in.44/75 (58.7%). Tumor sites were laryn. in.77 (89.5%) an. hypopharyn. in.9 (10.5%) patien.s. Disease stage 3, 4 was common.in.59/86 (68.6%) patien.s. Thirty-six (41.8%) patien.s had surgery. 13/86 (15.1%) patien.s received in.uction.chemotherapy, while 31/86 (36.0%) had con.omitan. chemoradiotherapy. Radiotherapy was given.in.65/86 (75.58%) patien.s. The mean.RT dose was 66 Gy. n.n.an.mic patien.s had sign.fican. higher in.i-den.e of complete respon.e (CR) to treatmen. (p = 0.034). 25.8% of male pa-tien.s with Hb n.iden.e of recurren.e (p = 0.036) com-pared to recurren.e in.39.5% of male patien.s with Hb > 13 g/dl (p = 0.403). Female patien.s whether an.mic or n.n.an.mic had n. recurren.e (p = 0.036 an. p = 0.403 respectively). The median.duration.of DFS an. OS was 6.52 an. 9.33 mon.hs respectively. Pretreatmen. Hb level had statistical sign.fican. effect on.respon.
