Signature verification is regarded as the most beneficial behavioral characteristic-based biometric feature in security and fraud *** is also a popular biometric authentication technology in forensic and commercial transactions due to its various advantages,including noninvasiveness,user-friendliness,and social and legal *** to the literature,extensive research has been conducted on signature verification systems in a variety of languages,including English,Hindi,Bangla,and ***,the Arabic Offline Signature Verification(OSV)system is still a challenging issue that has not been investigated as much by researchers due to the Arabic script being distinguished by changing letter shapes,diacritics,ligatures,and overlapping,making verification more ***,signature verification systems have shown promising results for recognizing signatures that are genuine or forgeries;however,performance on skilled forgery detection is still *** existing methods require many learning samples to improve verification accuracy,which is a major drawback because the number of available signature samples is often limited in the practical application of signature verification *** study addresses these issues by presenting an OSV system based on multifeature fusion and discriminant feature selection using a genetic algorithm(GA).In contrast to existing methods,which use multiclass learning approaches,this study uses a oneclass learning strategy to address imbalanced signature data in the practical application of a signature verification *** proposed approach is tested on three signature databases(SID)-Arabic handwriting signatures,CEDAR(Center of Excellence for Document Analysis and Recognition),and UTSIG(University of Tehran Persian Signature),and experimental results show that the proposed system outperforms existing systems in terms of reducing the False Acceptance Rate(FAR),False Rejection Rate(FRR),and Equa

It is critical to have precise data about Lithium-ion batteries,such as the State-of-Charge(SoC),to maintain a safe and consistent functioning of battery packs in energy storage systems of electric *** strategies for estimating battery SoC,such as by including the coulomb counting and Kalman filter,have been *** a result of the differences in parameter values between each cell,when these methods are applied to highcapacity battery packs,it has difficulties sustaining the prediction accuracy of overall *** a result of aging,the variation in the parameters of each cell is higher as more time is spent in *** is suggested in this study to establish an SoC estimate model for a Lithium-ion battery by employing an enhanced Deep Neural Network(DNN)*** is because the proposed DNN has a substantial hidden layer,which can accurately predict the SoC of an unknown driving cycle during training,making it ideal for SoC *** evaluate the nonlinearities between voltage and current at various SoCs and temperatures,the proposed DNN is *** current and voltage data measured at various temperatures throughout discharge/charge cycles is necessary for training and testing *** the method has been thoroughly trained with the data collected,it is used for additional cells cycle tests to predict their *** simulation has been conducted for two different Li-ion battery *** to the experimental data,the suggested DNN-based SoC estimate approach produces a low mean absolute error and root-mean-square-error values,say less than 5%errors.

Influence of biofilm-forming lactic acid bacteria against methicillin-resistan Staphylococcus aureus(mRSA S547)

Objective: To investigate the antibacterial effect of selected lactic acid bacteria(LAB)biofilms on the planktonic and biofilm population of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(mRSA)(S547).methods: In this study, biofilm-forming LAB were isolated from tairu and kefir. Isolate Y1 and isolate KF were selected based on their prominent inhibition against test pathogens(using spot-on-agar method and agar-well-diffusion assay) and efficient biofilm production(using tissue culture plate method). They were then identified as Lactobacillus casei(L. casei) Y1 and Lactobacillus plantarum(L. plantarum) KF, respectively using16 S r DNA gene sequencing. The influence of incubation time, temperature and aeration on the biofilm production of L. casei Y1 and L. plantarum KF was also investigated using tissue culture plate method. The inhibitory activity of both the selected LAB biofilms was evaluated against mRSA(Institute for medical Research code: S547) using L. plantarum ATCC 8014 as the reference ***: L. casei Y1 showed the highest reduction of mRSA biofilms, by 3.53 log at48 h while L. plantarum KF records the highest reduction of 2.64 log at 36 h. In inhibiting planktonic population of mRSA(S547), both L. casei Y1 and L. plantarum KF biofilms recorded their maximum reduction of 4.13 log and 3.41 log at 24 h, respectively. Despite their inhibitory effects being time-dependent, both LAB biofilms exhibited good potential in controlling the biofilm and planktonic population of mRSA(S547).Conclusions: The results from this study could highlight the importance of analysing biofilms of LAB to enhance their antibacterial efficacy. Preferably, these protective biofilms of LAB could also be a better alternative to control the formation of biofilms by pathogens such as mRSA.

Towards superior permeability and antifouling performance of sulfonated polyethersulfone ultrafiltration membranes modified with sulfopropyl methacrylate functionalized SBA-15

A non-solvent induced phase separation(NIPS)process was used to fabricate a series of sulfonated polyethersulfone(SPES)membranes blending with different concentrations of SBA-15-g-PSPA with the applications in the ultrafiltration(UF)***-15 was modified with 3-methacrylate-propyltrime thoxysilane(mPS)to form *** was further modified with the charge tailorable polymer chains by reacting with 3-sulfopropyl methacrylate potassium *** nanoparticles were uniformly dispersed and finger-like channels were developed within the *** adding of surface modified SBA-15-g-PSPA nanoparticles has significantly improved membrane water permeability,hydrophilicity,and antifouling *** pure water fluxes of the composite SPES membranes were significantly higher than the pristine SPES *** the membrane containing 5%(mass)of SBA-15-g-PSPA(mSSPA5),the pure water flux was increased dramatically to 402.15 Lm^(-2)·h^(-1),which is ~1.5 times that of mSSPA0(268.0 Lm^(-2)·h^(-1)).The high flux rate was achieved with 3%(mass)of SBA-15 nanoparticles with retained high rejection ratio 98%for natural organic *** results indicate that the fashioned composite membrane comprising SBA-15-g-PSPA nanoparticles have a promising future in ultrafiltration applications.

Organic-inorganic hybrid Sn-based perovskite photodetectors with high external quantum efficiencies and wide spectral responses from 300 to 1000 nm

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites are ideal materials for photodetection owing to their high charge carrier mobility, long charge carrier diffusion length, low dark current density and sharp absorption edge. However, a relatively small band gap(1.6 e V) limits their photonharvesting efficiency in the near-infrared region. In the present work, we demonstrate a hybrid methylamine iodide and Pb-Sn binary perovskite as the light absorption layer in photodetectors. Experimentally, the wavelength of photoresponse onset for the photodetectors can be extended to as great as 1,000 nm when the Sn content of the hybrid perovskite is increased to 30 mol%. In addition, the photodetectors exhibit a photoresponsivity of 0.39 A W^-1, a specific detectivity of 7×10^12 Jones, a fast photoresponse with rise and decay time constants and an external quantum efficiency greater than 50% in the wavelength range of350–900 nm, with a maximum value of about 80% at 550 nm.

The occurrence of collagenous colitis(CC)in patients with pre-existing inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD)is rare,with only seven cases reported in the ***,we report two IBD cases who developed CC after successful treatment of their IBD with two different tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-a inhibitors,which have been previously reported to successfully treat refractory *** report highlights the need to do random biopsies of the colon for CC diagnosis in IBD patients with symptoms of diarrhea after complete mucosal *** report also reviews plausible mechanisms as to how CC may develop,including the role of multiple medications.

Releases of phosphate fertilizer industry in the surrounding environment:Investigation on heavy metals and polonium-210 in soil

Distribution of Cu, Zn, Pb, Cr, Ni, mn concentrations and the activity of polonium-210 in the surrounding area of a phosphate fertilizer industry located on the eastern coast of the mediterranean Sea has been determined. Nineteen sampling sites were distributed around the industrial zone on a surface area of about 100,000 m^2. Atomic absorption spectroscopy and Alpha spectroscopy were used to quantify the heavy elements and polonium-210, respectively. Investigation on a particle scale was conducted by TEm and SEm coupled to EDX and X-ray cartography to determine the nature of heavy elements carriers and their distribution. Heavy elements were mainly concentrated inside the particle size fraction 〈 50 μm. Their levels decreased with distance increasing from the industry. According to the reference soil, enrichment factors were about 10, 15, 32 and 100 times for Zn, Pb, Cu, and Cr, respectively inside the particle size fraction 〈 50 μm on the closest sites to the industry. The main contaminant sources were transport and storage of row materials and the free release of phosphogypsum waste. Heavy elements were entrapped inside agglomerates of sulfates, phosphates and iron oxihydroxides in a diffused shape. Polonium-210 with an enrichment factor of about 56, showed the same behavior of the spatial distribution of the trace elements.

New Ulva lactuca Algae Based Chitosan Bio-composites for Bioremediation of Cd(II)Ions

The current article covers the production of chitosan(CS)from shells of shrimp waste and its utilization in the preparation of eco-friendly imprinting and non-imprinting composites with Ulva lactuca algae(Alg).These bio-composites namely(Imp-Alg-25wt%CS)and(NImp-Alg-25wt%CS)were used for removal of Cd(II)*** transform infrared(FT-IR)spectra,scanning electron microscope(SEm)equipped with electron dispersive X-ray(EDX),X-ray diffraction(XRD),and elemental analysis measurements were performed to characterize these bio-composites *** highest adsorption of these sorbents towards Cd(II)ions was determined as a function of solutions pH,contact time,Cd(II)ion concentration,beads dose,and *** equilibrium experimental data were treated using various mathematical isotherm and kinetic models to approve the maximum bio-sorption capacities of NImp-Alg-25wt%CS and Imp-Alg-25wt%CS(in mg/g).The results exhibited that Imp-Alg-25wt%CS gave higher removal capacity than NImp-Alg-25wt%CS at the same optimum ***-2nd order dynamic and Langmuir isotherm models were well described in these biosorption ***,the removal behavior of Cd(II)using both bio-composites was spontaneous at room *** reusability of the sorbents,NImp-Alg-25wt%CS and Imp-Alg-25wt%CS,showed three *** addition,comparative study was also conducted for Cd(II)removal onto some reported sorbents.

The synthesis of biological silicon nano-particles(Bio-Si-NPs)is an eco-friendly and lowcost *** is no study focusing on the effect of Bio-Si-NPs on the plants grown on saline soil contaminated with heavy *** this study,an attempt was made to synthesis Bio-Si-NPs using potassium silica florid substrate,and the identified Aspergillus tubingensis Am11 isolate that separated from distribution systems of the potable water.A twoyear field trial was conducted to compare the protective effects of Bio-Si-NPs(2.5 and 5.0 mmol/L)and potassium silicate(10 mmol/L)as a foliar spray on the antioxidant defense system,physio-biochemical components,and the contaminants contents of Phaseolus vulgaris *** on saline soil contaminated with heavy *** findings showed that all treatments of Bio-Si-NPs and potassium silicate significantly improved plant growth and production,chlorophylls,carotenoids,transpiration rate,net photosynthetic rate,stomatal conductance,membrane stability index,relative water content,free proline,total soluble sugars,N,P,K,Ca2+,K+/Na+,and the activities of peroxidase,catalase,ascorbic peroxidase and superoxide oxide *** of Bio-Si-NPs and potassium silicate significantly decreased electrolyte leakage,malondialdehyde,H2 O2,O2·-,Na+,Pb,Cd,and Ni in leaves and pods of Phaseolus vulgaris *** to ***-Si-NPs were more effective compared to potassium *** of Bio-Si-NPs at the rate of 5 mmol/L was the recommended treatment to enhance the performance and reduce heavy metals content on plants grown on contaminated saline soils.
