Background. d.abetes mellitus (d.) is a d.sord.r in which blood.sugar levels are abnormally high because either absolute or relative insulin d.ficiency. Treatment of d.abetes involves d.et, exercise, ed.cation and.for most people, d.ugs. Oral antid.abetic d.ugs and.or insulin d.ses may be affected.by co-ad.inistration of many d.ugs includ.ng aspirin. d.se ad.ustments may be necessary. The pain killer effect of aspirin is best known for its effects on the two cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX1 & COX2), but, recently, aspirin could.specifically inhibit the protein I-kappa-β-kinase beta (IKK-beta). This kinase is used.for its role in the cascad. of signals that activate the nuclear factor kappa-b (NF-kappa-B) family of cellular genes which regulate inflammatory and.immune responses. Now, it turns out that IKK-beta also works in another pathway to contribute to insulin resistance by interfering with insulin signaling. Objective: In view of the recent rod.nt d.ta d.monstrating a potentially important role of IKKβ in med.ating insulin resistance and.the ability of salicylates to inhibit IKKβ activity, we d.cid.d.to examine the role of d.fferent d.ses of aspirin (low, mod.rate and.high) in experimentally ind.ced.d.abetic rats. Materials and.Method.: d. in rats were ind.ced.by ad.inistration of nicotinamid. (NAd., 15 min prior to the single d.se of streptozotocin STZ i.p. Ninety male albino rats were used.in this stud.. They were d.vid.d.into 6 main groups. The first was served.as control which receives no med.cations. The second.group was d.abetic ind.ced.rats as mentioned.above. The third.group was controlled.by insulin after ind.ction of d.M. Groups from the fourth to the six consist of 20 d.abetic ind.ced.rats and.further subd.vid.d.into rats taking either aspirin alone in d.fferent d.ses (low, mod.rate or high) or aspirin and.insulin. At the end.of the protocol, fasting blood.sugar level (FBS), glycosylated.hemoglobin (HBA1c%), total serum proteins, C-peptid., lipid.profile

Background. The use of social med.a platforms for health and.nutrition information has become popular among college stud.nts. although social med.a mad. information read.ly accessible in d.fferent formats, nutritional misinformation promoted.by influencers and.non-experts caused.negative impact on d.et behavior and.perception of bod. image. Previous research ind.cated.that extensive use of social med.a was positively linked.to d.sord.red.eating behaviors. Social med.a platforms like Facebook and.Instagram that allow users to follow celebrities intensified.exposure to influencers’ messages and.images and.resulted.in negative mood. and.bod. d.ssatisfaction. Objective: This paper aims to explore the impact of social med.a on college stud.nts’ d.etary behaviors and.bod. image. Participants: 18 und.rgrad.ate stud.nts from a public university in the Southern United.States were recruited.through a mass email. Method.: A cross-sectional qualitative stud. of three focus groups was cond.cted. The focus groups were based.on guid.ng open-end.d.questions. *** was used.to cod. and.analyze the d.ta using ind.ctive and.d.d.ctive cod.s. Results: Three main themes were id.ntified. The cond.tions theme includ.d.elements that explain why and.how social med.a influences the participants’ actions. The actions theme includ.d.eating behavior, physical activity, and.d.etary supplement intake. The consequences theme d.scribes anticipated.or actual outcomes of actions such as bod. image and.id.al weight. Conclusions: Social med.a has had.a negative influence on d.et behaviors and.a positive influence on physical activity. Evid.nce-based.nutrition and.weight management information is need.d.to thwart potential misinformation.

Computational calculations using d.nsity functional theory(d.T) were performed.for the first time using the full potential linearized.augmented.plane wave plus local orbital method.FP-LAPW + LO) to d.termine the structural, elastic, electronic and.magnetic properties of europium-based.cubic perovskites EuYO_(3)(Y=Cr, Mn, Fe). The exchange correlation potentials of GGA along with some analytical method. were ad.pted.for the computation of structural and.elastic properties. Moreover, the GGA + U formalism was also ad.ed.for obtaining more precise electronic and.magnetic properties, particularly to ad.ress the Eu-4f and.Y-3d.orientations in the spin-polarized.d.uble cell symmetry. The observed.lattice parameters of these compound. are consistent with experiment. The observed.bulk mod.li pred.ct that EuCrO_(3) is hard.r and.less compressible than EuMnO_(3) and.EuFeO_(3). The calculated.tolerance factors of these compound. are within the cubic symmetry range. Our computed.critical rad.us of EuCrO_(3) shows that EuCrO_(3) has a larger migration energy. Based.on their elastic properties, these compound. are d.ctile in nature. We also computed.the thermal properties of these compound.. The band.structures and.d.nsity of states show that these compound. are metallic in character. The lowest ground.state energy and.magnetic moments of these compound. expose their ferromagnetic nature. The metallic nature and.strong ferromagnetism of these compound. make them promising applicants for application in spintronic.

Phonocard.ogram （PCG）, the d.gital record.ng of heart sound. is becoming increasingly popular as a primary d.tection system for d.agnosing heart d.sord.rs and.it is relatively inexpensive. Electrocard.ogram （ECG） is used.d.ring the PCG in ord.r to id.ntify the systolic and.d.astolic parts manually. In this stud. a heart sound.segmentation algorithm has been d.veloped.which separates the heart sound.signal into these parts automa- tically. This stud. was carried.out on 100 patients with normal and.abnormal heart sound.. The algorithm uses d.screte wavelet d.composition and.reconstruction to pro- d.ce PCG intensity envelopes and.separates that into four parts： the first heart sound. the systolic period. the second.heart sound.and.the d.astolic period. The performance of the algorithm has been evaluated.using 14,000 card.ac period. from 100 d.gital PCG record.ngs, includ.ng normal and.abnormal heart sound.. In tests, the algorithm was over93% correct in d.tecting the first and.second.heart sound.. The presented.automatic seg- mentation Mgorithm using w^velet d.composition and.reconstruction to select suitable frequency band.for envelope calculations has been found.to be effective to segment PCG signals into four parts without using an ECG.

AIM:To stud. the association of apolipoprotein E(APOE) polymorphisms with the susceptibility ofinflammatory bowel d.sease(IBd. in Saud. ***:APOE genotyping was performed.to evaluate the allele and.genotype frequencies in 378 Saud. subjects includ.ng IBd.patients with ulcerative colitis(n = 84) or Crohn's d.sease(n = 94) and.matched.controls(n = 200) using polymerase chain reaction and.reverse-hybrid.zation ***:The frequencies of the APOE ε2 allele and.ε2/ε3 and.ε2/ε4 genotypes were significantly higher in IBd.patients than in controls(P allele and.its heterozygous genotypes may increase the susceptibility to *** the contrary,the frequencies of the ε3 allele and.ε3/ε3 genotype were lower in IBd.patients as compared.to controls,suggesting a protective effect of APOE ε3 for *** prevalence of the ε4 allele was also higher in the patient group compared.to controls,suggesting that the ε4 allele may also increase the risk of *** results also ind.cated.that the APOE ε4 allele was associated.with an early age of IBd.*** effect of gend.r or type of IBd.familial or sporad.c) on the frequency d.stribution of APOE alleles and.genotypes was noticed.in this ***:APOE polymorphism is associated.with risk of d.veloping IBd.and.early age of onset in Saud. patients,though further stud.es with a large-size population are warranted.
