This paper deals with the problem of recreating horizontal alignments of existing railway *** main objective is to propose a simple method for automatically obtaining optimized recreated alignments located as close as possible to an existing *** on a previously defined geometric model,two different constrained optimization problems are *** first problem uses only the information provided by a set of points representing the track centerline while the second one also considers additional data about the existing *** proposed methodology consists of a two-stage process in which both problems are solved consecutively using numerical *** main results obtained applying this methodology are presented to show its performance and to prove its practical usefulness:an academic example used to compare with other methods,and a case study of a railway section located in Parga(Spain)in which the geometry of its horizontal alignment is successfully recovered.

Abnormal expression of microRNAs is connected to brain development and disease and could provide novel biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of bipolar disorder. We performed a PubMed search for microRNA biomarkers in bipolar disorder and found 18 original research articles on studies performed with human patients and published from January 2011 to June 2023. These studies included microRNA profiling in bloodand brain-based materials. From the studies that had validated the preliminary findings,potential candidate biomarkers for bipolar disorder in adults could be miR-140-3p,-30d-5p,-330-5p,-378a-5p,-21-3p,-330-3p,-345-5p in whole blood, miR-19b-3p,-1180-3p,-125a-5p, let-7e-5p in blood plasma, and miR-7-5p,-23b-5p,-142-3p,-221-5p,-370-3p in the blood serum. Two of the studies had investigated the changes in microRNA expression of patients with bipolar disorder receiving treatment. One showed a significant increase in plasma miR-134 compared to baseline after 4 weeks of treatment which included typical antipsychotics, atypical antipsychotics, and benzodiazepines. The other study had assessed the effects of prescribed medications which included neurotransmitter receptorsite binders(drug class B) and sedatives, hypnotics, anticonvulsants, and analgesics(drug class C) on microRNA results. The combined effects of the two drug classes increased the significance of the results for miR-219 and-29c with miR-30e-3p and-526b* acquiring significance. MicroRNAs were tested to see if they could serve as biomarkers of bipolar disorder at different clinical states of mania, depression, and euthymia. One study showed that upregulation in whole blood of miR-9-5p,-29a-3p,-106a-5p,-106b-5p,-107,-125a-3p,-125b-5p and of miR-107,-125a-3p occurred in manic and euthymic patients compared to controls, respectively, and that upregulation of miR-106a-5p,-107 was found for manic compared to euthymic patients. Magnetic susceptibility of Al2Re （Re=Y, Ce, Sm, Gd, Dy, Ho, Yb） compounds was studied experimentally in wide temperature （T=290–2000 K） and field （B=0.3–1.3 T） intervals. The abnormal increase in susceptibility beginning above the melting point was fixed for all the compositions. The values for the effective magnetic moments per Re atoms in these compounds were found to be smaller than the values typical for free ions Re3＋. The results were discussed in supposition of the directed bonds between aluminum and rare-earth atoms.

Zn is a commonly used alloying element for Mg alloys owing to its beneficial effects on mechanical properties. To improve the mechanical and corrosion properties of We43B Mg alloys, the effects of 0–0.7wt% Zn addition on the microstructure and properties of sample alloys were investigated. Addition of Zn to as-cast We43B alloy promoted the formation of the Mg12Nd phase;by contrast, after T6 heat treatment, the phase composition of We43B alloys with and without Zn addition remained mostly the same. A long-period stacking ordered phase was predicted by CALPHAD calculation, but this phase was not observed in either the as-cast or heat-treated Zn-containing We43B alloys. The optimum temperature and duration of T6 heat treatment were obtained using CALPHAD calculations and hardness measurements. Addition of Zn resulted in a slight reduction in the average grain size of the as-cast and T6 heat-treated We43B alloys and endowed them with increased corrosion resistance with little effect on their mechanical properties.

Laser diodes are widely used and play a crucial role in myriad modern applications including nonlinear optics and ***,we explore the four-wave mixing effect in a laser diode gain medium induced by the feedback from the high-Q microring *** phenomenon can be observed at a laser frequency scan close to the microresonator eigenfrequency,prior to the transition of the laser diode from a free-running to a self-injection locking *** effect opens up the possibility for generation of remarkably low-noise,stable,and adjustable microwave *** provide a detailed numerical study of this phenomenon proven with experimental results and demonstrate the generation of the signals in the GHz *** obtained results reveal the stability of such regime and disclose the parameter ranges enabling to achieve ***,our findings uncover,to our knowledge,a novel laser diode operation regime and pave the way for the creation of new types of chip-scale,low-noise microwave sources,which are highly demanded for diverse applications,including telecommunication,metrology,and sensing.

The recurrence of atrial fibrillation(AF)in patients after successful radiofrequency catheter ablation(RFCA)appears to be an unresolved clinical issue and needs to be clearly *** are many factors associated with AF recurrence,such as duration of AF,male sex,concomitant heart failure,hemodynamic parameters,chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,hypertension,obstructive sleep apnea,hyperthyroidism,smoking and ***,the inflammatory changes are strongly associated with electrical and structural cardiac remodeling,cardiac damage,myocardial fibrotic changes,microvascular dysfunction and altered reparative *** this context,biomarkers reflecting the different stages of AF pathogenesis deserve thorough *** authors of the retrospective study revealed that one-year recurrence rate of non-valvular AF in the high systemic immune inflammation(SII)index group was significantly increased compared to that of the low SII index group and provided additional predictive value to the ***,the authors suggest that this biomarker may help physicians to optimize the selection of AF patients and to develop a personalized treatment *** conclusion,the SII index may serve as a valuable indicator of recurrent AF in patients after RFCA and may be a biomarker with plausible predictive value for poor clinical outcomes.
