Alzheim.r’s disease (AD) is believed to be triggered by increased levels/aggregation of β-am.loid (Aβ) peptides. At present, there is no effective disease-m.difying treatm.nt for AD. Here, we evaluated the therapeutic potential of FDA-approved native poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) nanoparticles on Aβ aggregation and in cellular/ anim.l m.dels of AD. Our results showed that native PLGA can not only suppress the spontaneous aggregation but can also trigger disassem.ly of preform.d Aβ aggregates. spectroscopic studies, m.lecular dynam.cs sim.-lations and biochem.cal analyses revealed that PLGA, by interacting with the hydrophobic dom.in of Aβ1-42, prevents a conform.tional shift towards the β-sheet structure, thus precluding the form.tion and/or triggering disassem.ly of Aβ aggregates. PLGA-treated Aβ sam.les can enhance neuronal viability by reducing phosphor-ylation of tau protein and its associated signaling m.chanism.. Adm.nistration of PLGA can interact with Aβ aggregates and attenuate m.m.ry deficits as well as Aβ levels/deposits in the 5xFAD m.use m.del of AD. PLGA can also protect iPsC-derived neurons from.AD patients against Aβ toxicity by decreasing tau phosphorylation. These findings provide unam.iguous evidence that native PLGA, by targeting different facets of the Aβ axis, can have beneficial effects in m.use neurons/anim.l m.dels as well as on iPsC-derived AD neurons - thus signifying its unique therapeutic potential in the treatm.nt of AD pathology.

Rapid Cu diffusion is one of the m.in causes of electrom.gration（Em. failure in lead-free solder *** this study, an effort has been m.de to investigate the detrim.ntal effects of Em.on m.crostructure and m.chanical perform.nce of solder joint by introducing Co nanoparticles（NP） doped flux at the interface between sAC305 solder and copper substrate. Em.tests were conducted on un-doped sAC305 and Co-doped sAC305 solder joints for different tim. intervals, with the m.xim.m.duration of 1128 h. A DC current was applied to the both types of solder joints to achieve a current density of 1 × 104A/cm.. Em.tests were perform.d in an oil bath m.intained at a constant tem.erature of 80 °C. It is found that Codoped flux significantly reduced the form.tion of cracks and voids at the cathode interface. Co atom. entered into the lattice of Cu6sn5 leading to the form.tion of（Cu, Co）6sn5. This therm.dynam.cally stabilized the interfacial interm.tallic（Im.） layers both at the anode and cathode sides and suppressed the change in their thickness. The average anodic growth rate of（Cu, Co）6sn5 interfacial Im. in the doped sam.le was about one order of m.gnitude lower com.ared with that of Cu6sn5 in the un-doped ***-NP also im.roved the tensile strength considerably before and after Em. The report suggests that the reliability of solder joint during Em.can be im.roved by using Co-NP doped flux.

Effect of Intercropping Pattern on stem.Borer Infestation in Pearl m.llet (<em.gt;Pennisetum.glaucum.lt;/em.gt;L.) Grown in the Nigerian sudan savannah

Fields experim.nts were conducted at the Departm.nt of Crop Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, University of m.iduguri Teaching and Research Farm. m.iduguri during 2010 and 2011 cropping seasons to investigate the effects of intercropping pattern on stem.borer pest infestation in pearl m.llet (Pennisetum.glaucum.L.) intercropped with ground nut (Arachis hypogea L.). A split-plot design was used to test the intercrop pattern of 1:0 ratio (sole m.llet), 1:1 ratio (1 m.llet row to 1 ground nut row), 2:1 ratio (2 m.llet rows to 1 ground nut row) and 1:2 ratio (1 m.llet row to 2 ground nut rows). The results obtained showed that the intercrop pattern of 1:2 ratio and 1:1 ratio yielded less stem.borer infestation and abundance in pearl m.llet, and as well supported high panicle weight and grain yield. In addition to recom.ending either of these two intercropping patterns to pearl m.llet farm.rs for m.re effective stem.borer pest m.nagem.nt, results further show the need for identification of effective intercropping patterns in other cropping system..

In the present investigation, we consider two new general subclasses B∑m.T, λ; α）and B^∑m.（τ λ;β） of Em.consisting of analytic and m.fold sym.etric bi-univalent functions in the open unit disk U. For functions belonging to the two classes introduced here, we derive non-sharp estim.tes on the initial coefficients [a-~＋ll and │a2＋1│. several connections to som. of the earlier known results are also pointed out.

Tunable super-structured Fiber Bragg Gratings with Perfect sequences Based on m.sequence

Recently, a tunable fiber Bragg grating(FBG) was developed by using stress-responsive colloidal crystals. In this paper, we have sim.lated the application of these nanoparticles into the super-structured fiber Bragg grating(ssFBG) written with perfect sequences derived from.a short m.xim.l-length sequence. A tunable ssFBG will be available to overcom. the prohibitive tem.erature variation of the optical codecs. Nevertheless,we presented a m.thod to im.lem.nt coherent tim. spreading optical code-division m.ltiple-access(OCDm.) where a unique code(or perfect sequence) can be reused and m.xed with different wavelengths to obtain a tunable wavelength-division m.ltiplexing(WDm.system. In order to m.xim.ze the binary throughput, we have selected a unique short m.xim.l-length sequence com.osed of 7 chips that can be tuned with 7 different optical wavelengths. We found thousands of different tunable com.inations that presented power contrast ratios(P/C) higher than 12 dB. When a WDm.OCDm. system.used 2 different com.inations sim.ltaneously, the perfect binary detection with error correction codes was achieved successfully. The tunable ssFBG with colloidal crystals will be a sim.le and good alternative choice for fiber-to-the-hom.(FTTH) com.unications.

The Aedes(Ae.)aegypti and *** m.squitoes are vectors of epidem.ologically relevant arboviruses in the public health context,such as the dengue,Zika and chikungunya *** the alternatives to synthetic insecticides for the control of these vectors,the use of natural plant products deserves *** review sum.arizes findings on the larvicidal potential of plant extracts on *** and ***,as well as the potential of isolated com.ounds from.plants of the Annonaceae and Piperaceae fam.lies against these *** related to larvicidal activity of plant extracts and isolated com.ounds in Aedes *** the Web of science database were used,for plant extracts considering publications between 2000 and 2019.A total of 859 articles were analyzed for plant extracts and estim.tes of lethal concentration values(LC50 and LC90).In the end,95 articles that presented the larvicidal potential of 150 plant species from.52 fam.lies were *** two fam.lies m.st studied for this activity were Fabaceae and Asterace *** plant fam.lies with the best LC50 values against m.squitoes were Piperaceae and *** activity of 50 acetogenins has already been identified on ***,and 29 of them.presented LC50 below 10μg/m.,as well as the larvicidal activity of 8 com.ounds isolated from.***,plants of these two fam.lies are prom.sing for the developm.nt of com.ercial botanical larvicides in the form.of extracts and isolated substances,as well as the production via organic synthesis of the m.st active com.ounds.

The Gentio m.tagranitoid presents equigranular and porphyritic facies, m.dal com.osition ranging from.tonalite to m.nzogranite with calculated T_(Zr)m.st sam.les. Its m.neralogy is dom.nated by quartz and feldspar(77% to 95%), biotite is the only m.fic m.neral present(2% to 18%) and, titanite, zircon, apatite, allanite are im.ortant accessory phases. These rocks range from.m.talum.nous to weakly peralum.nous, and have large variation in m.jor and trace elem.nts, and high alkali contents(>6 wt.%). Zircon analyses by LA-ICP-m. and sHRIm. yielded a concordia age of 2 119±10 m. for the porphyritic facies and an upper intercept age of 2 111±15 m. for the equigranular facies. The whole-rock sm.Nd T_(Dm. ages vary from.2.4 to 2.8 Ga with ε_(Nd)(2.1) values between -0.7 and-5.3, indicating crustal derivation from.distinct and/or heterogeneous protoliths. Field observations indicate that the Gentio m.tagranitoid was form.d through different pulses of m.gm.. Individual batches were subject to little or even no fractionation process after its em.lacem.nt. Although the Gentio m.tagranitoid crosscuts m.tam.fic and m.taultram.fic rocks akin to an oceanic arc setting, this pluton is likely originated by partial m.lting of a m.re evolved quartz-feldspathic crustal igneous rock in a post-collisional environm.nt, after the accretion of the arcs from.the m.neiro belt and rocks of the m.ntiqueira Com.lex.

successive generalisations of the basic sEIR m.del have been proposed to accom.odate the different needs of the organisations handling the sARs-CoV-2 epidem.c and the assessm.nt of the public health m.asures adopted and nam.d under the com.on um.brella of Non-Pharm.ceutical Interventions(NPIs).so far,these generalisations have not been able to assess the ability of these m.asures to avoid infection by the sARs-CoV-2 and thus their contribution to contain the spread of the *** work proposes a new generalisation of sEIR m.del and includes a heterogeneous and age-related generation of infections that depends both on a probability that a contact generates the transm.ssion of the disease and a contact *** results show(1)thanks to the universal wearing of facial coverings,the probability that a contact provokes the transm.ssion of the disease was reduced by at least 50%and(2)the im.act of the other NPI is so significant that otherwise Portugal would have gone into a non-sustainable situation of having 80%of its population infected in the first 300 days of the *** situation would have led to a num.er of deaths alm.st twenty tim.s higher than the num.er that was actually recorded by Decem.er 26th,***,the results suggest that even if the requirem.nt of universal wearing of facial coverings was adopted sooner jointly with closing workplaces and resorting to teleworking would have postponed the peak of the incidence,altought the epidem.c path would have result in a num.er of infections hardly m.naged by the National Health ***,results confirm.that(3)the health authorities adopted a conservative approach on the criteria to consider an infected individual not infective any longer;and(4)the m.st effective NPIs and stringency levels either im.acting on self-protection against infection or reducing the contacts that would eventually result in infection are,in decreasing order of im.ortance,the use of Facial coverings,Workplace clos

From.1540 inelastic interactions of 3. 7A GeV 160 projectile with em.lsion nuclei, we select sam.les of 87 and 61 events carefully due to interactions of neutron （n） and singly charged particles （Z = 1）, respectively. New results concerning the topology of such events are investigated. The average m.ltiplicities of secondary relativistic particles that appear as shower tracks for n and Z = 1 stay m.re or less constant when com.ared with analogous data on p-Em.at sim.lar energy. The m.ltiplicity distributions and the average values of the various secondary charged particles are studied and com.ared with the corresponding predictions by the cascade evaporation m.del. The results assum. that the n or Z = 1 from.16O collide peripherally with an em.lsion target and are considered as an expansion to the N-N collisions.
