The differences in satellite DNA methylation pattern of corn seedlings with various spontaneous chromosome aberration yields and changes in methylation pattern of these DNA sequences under different exposure modes of acute UV-C and chronic gamma-irradiations have been investigated. The obtained experimental data and the conducted correlation analysis demonstrated the significant correlation between the satellite DNA methylation pattern varieties and chromosome aberration yields under various stress exposure modes. The role of satellite DNA methylation pattern variability and its changing in key responses to stress such as mobile elements’ activation, cell’s passage of checkpoints, and homological repair was discussed.

per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(pFAs)are persistent organic pollutants of concern be-cause of their ubiquitous presence in surface and ground water;analytical methods that can be used for rapid comprehensive exposure assessment and fingerprinting of pFAs are *** the fires at the Intercontinental Terminals Company(ITC)in Deer park,TX in 2019,large quantities of pFAs-containing firefighting foams were *** release of these substances into the Houston ship Channel/Galveston Bay(HsC/GB)prompted con-cerns over the extent and level of pFAs contamination.A targeted liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(LC-Ms/Ms)-based study of temporal and spatial patterns of pFAs associated with this incident revealed presence of 7 species;their levels gradually de-creased over a 6-month *** the targeted LC-Ms/Ms analysis was focused on about 30 pFAs molecules,it may have missed other pFAs compounds present in firefighting ***,we utilized untargeted LC-ion mobility spectrometry-mass spectrome-try(LC-IMs-Ms)-based analytical approach for a more comprehensive characterization of pFAs in these water *** analyzed 31 samples from 9 sites in the HsC/GB that were collected over 5 months after the *** data showed that additional 19 pFAs were detected in surface water of HsC/GB,most of them decreased gradually after the *** features detected by LC-Ms/Ms correlated well in abundance with LC-IMs-Ms data;however,LC-IMs-Ms identified a number of additional pFAs,many known to be compo-nents of firefighting *** findings therefore illustrate that untargeted LC-IMs-Ms improved our understanding of pFAs presence in complex environmental samples.

service members are at risk for sleep and psychological conditions affecting their readiness. Chronotype(“morningness”or “eveningness”) is strongly associated with sleep, health and performance. The objective of this study was to examine associations between validated measures of chronotype and sleep quality, daytime functioning, alertness,and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder(pTsD) in Us service members(n=298).Although predominantly young males(who skew toward eveningness in civilian populations), these sailors skewed toward morningness(35.6% morning, 51.3% intermediate). Eveningness was associated with symptoms of depression and pTsD(pss time in bed(psleep disruption(ppoorer daytime functioning and alertness(ppes were less likely to consider sleep important for performance(pservice member readiness, schedules should be aligned with endogenous rhythms, whenever possible, and evening chronotypes may benefit from targeted interventions. Chronotype should be examined alongside health and readiness in service members.

Acute pancreatitis (Ap) is a serious inflammatory disease with rising incidence both in the adult and pediatric populations. It has been shown that mitochondrial injury and energy depletion are the earliest intracellular events in the early phase of Ap. Moreover, it has been revealed that restoration of intracellular ATp level restores cellular functions and defends the cells from death. We have recently shown in a systematic review and meta-analysis that early enteral feeding is beneficial in adults; however, no reviews are available concerning the effect of early enteral feeding in pediatric Ap. In this minireview, our aim was to systematically analyse the literature on the treatmentof acute pediatric pancreatitis. The preferred reporting items for systematic review(pRIsMA-p) were followed, and the question was drafted based on participants, intervention, comparison and outcomes: p: patients under the age of twenty-one suffering from acute pancreatitis; I: early enteral nutrition (per os and nasogastric- or nasojejunal tube started within 48 h); C: nil per os therapy; O: length of hospitalization, need for treatment at an intensive care unit, development of severe Ap, lung injury (including lung oedema and pleural effusion), white blood cell count and pain score on admission. Altogether, 632 articles (pub Med: 131; EMBAsE: 501) were found. After detailed screening of eligible papers, five of them met inclusion criteria. Only retrospective clinical trials were available. Due to insufficient information from the authors, it was only possible to address length of hospitalization as an outcome of the study. Our mini-meta-analysis showed that early enteral nutrition significantly(sD = 0.806, p = 0.034) decreases length of hospitalization compared with nil per os diet in acute pediatric pancreatitis. In the analysis and design of important structures with relatively long life spans, there is a need to generate strong motion data for possible large events. The source of an earthquake is characterized by the spatial distribution of slip on the fault plane. For future events, this is unknown. In this paper, a stochastic earthquake source model is developed to address this issue. Here, 1D and 2D stochastic models for slip distribution developed by Lavallée et al.(2006) are used. The random field associated with the slip distribution is heavy-tailed stable distribution which can be used for large events. Using 236 past rupture models, the spectral scaling parameter and the four stable or Levy's parameters against empirical relationship for known quantities like magnitude or fault length are developed. The model is validated with data from 411 stations of 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake. The simulated response spectrum showed good agreement to actual data. Further the proposed model is used to generate ground motion for the 1993 Killari Earthquake where strong motion data is not available. The simulated mean peak ground velocity was in turn related to the intensity(MsK) and compared against values in the literature.
