Aerial refueling scheduling of multi-receiver and multi-tanker under spatial-temporal constraints for forest firefighting

Forest fires pose a significant threat to human life and property,so the utilization of unmanned aircraft systems provides new ways for forest *** the constrained load capacities of these aircraft,aerial refueling becomes crucial to extend their operational time and *** order to address the complexities of firefighting missions involving multi-receiver and multi-tanker deployed from various airports,first,a fuel consumption calculation model for aerial refueling scheduling is established based on the receiver ***,two distinct methods,including an integrated one and a decomposed one,are designed to address the challenges of establishing refueling airspace and allocating tasks for *** methods aim to optimize total fuel consumption of the receivers and tankers within the aerial refueling scheduling *** optimization problem is established as nonlinear optimization models along with *** integrated method seamlessly combines refueling rendezvous point scheduling and tanker task allocation into unified *** has a complete solution space and excels in optimizing total fuel *** decomposed method,through the separation of rendezvous point scheduling and task allocation,achieves a reduced computational ***,this comes at the cost of sacrificing optimality by excluding specific feasible ***,numerical simulations are carried out to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed *** simulations yield insights crucial for the practical engineering application of both the integrated and decomposed methods in real-world *** comprehensive approach aims to enhance the efficiency of forest firefighting operations,mitigating the risks posed by forest fires to human life and property.

Mechanism analysis of foam penetration in EPB shield tunnelling with a focus on FER and soil particle size

Parameters of foam penetration in earth pressure balance(EPB)shield tunnelling,such as permeability coefficients and penetration distances,significantly impact tunnel face ***,existing studies have faced inaccuracies in analysing these parameters due to imitations in experimental *** study addresses this issue by employing enhanced methods for a more precise analysis of foam *** involving three distinct sand types(coarse,medium,and fine)and three foam expansion ratios(FER)(10,15,and 20)are conducted using a modified model test *** from a novel computer vision-based method,the model test outcomes unveil two distinct foam penetration paths:liquid migration(L_(w))and bubble migration(L_(f)).Three penetration phases-namely,injection,blockage&drainage,and breakage—are identified based on L_(w)and L_(f)*** initial"injection"phase conforms to Darcy’s law and is amenable to mathematical *** foam with FER of 15 has the maximum viscosity and,hence the L_(f)and permeability in the penetration tests with FER of 15 are the lowest in the same *** bubble size distribution of foam with different FER shows minor ***,the characteristics of foam penetration vary due to the distinct particle size distribution(PsD)of different *** penetration creates low-permeability layers in both medium and fine sands due to the larger bubble size of the foam compared to the estimated pore sizes of medium and fine *** the coarse sand results in a different situation due to its large pore *** distinctive characteristics of foam penetration in different sand strata are notably shaped by FER,PsD,and pore size *** insights shed light on the complex interactions during foam penetration at the tunnel face,contributing valuable knowledge to EPB shield tunnelling practices.

Elevational and temporal patterns of pollination success in distylous and homostylous buckwheats(Fagopyrum)in the Hengduan Mountains

Reproductive strategies of sexually dimorphic plants vary in response to the ***,we ask whether the sexual systems of Fagopyrum species(i.e.,selfing homostylous and out-crossing distylous)represent distinct adaptive strategies to increase reproductive success in changing alpine *** answer this question,we determined how spatial and temporal factors(e.g.,elevation and peak flowering time)affect reproductive success(i.e.,stigmatic pollen load)in nine wild Fagopyrum species(seven distylous and two homostylous)among 28 populations along an elevation gradient of 1299-3315 m in the Hengduan Mountains,southwestern *** also observed pollinators and conducted hundreds of hand pollinations to investigate inter/intra-morph compatibility,self-compatibility and pollen limitation in four Fagopyrum species(two distylous and two homostylous).We found that Fagopyrum species at higher elevation generally had bigger flowers and more stigmatic pollen loads;lateflowering individuals had smaller flowers and lower pollen *** pollen deposition was more variable in distylous species than in homostylous *** seed set was not pollenlimited in all species,we found that fruit set was much lower in distylous species,which rely on frequent pollinator visits,than in homostylous species capable of autonomous *** findings that pollination success increases at high elevations and decreases during the flowering season suggest that distylous and homostylous species have spatially and temporally distinct reproductive strategies related to environment-dependent pollinator activity.

Accurate intelligent reasoning systems are vital for intelligent *** this study,a new intelligent reasoning system was developed for milling processes to accurately predict tool wear and dynamically optimize machining *** developed system consists of a self-learning algorithm with an improved particle swarm optimization(IPsO)learning algorithm,prediction model determined by an improved case-based reasoning(ICBR)method,and optimization model containing an improved adaptive neural fuzzy inference system(IANFIs)and *** results showed that the IPsO algorithm exhibited the best global convergence *** ICBR method was observed to have a better performance in predicting tool wear than standard CBR *** IANFIs model,in combination with IPsO,enabled the optimization of multiple objectives,thus generating optimal milling *** paper offers a practical approach to developing accurate intelligent reasoning systems for sustainable and intelligent manufacturing.

The Giant Radio Array for Neutrino Detection(GRAND)is a proposed large-scale observatory designed to detect cosmic rays,gamma-rays,and neutrinos with energies exceeding 100 Pe *** GRANDProto300 experiment is proposed as the early stage of the GRAND project,consisting of a hybrid array of radio antennas and scintillator *** latter,as a mature and traditional detector,is used to cross-check the nature of the candidate events selected from radio *** this study,we developed a simulation software called G4GRANDProto300,based on the Geant4 software package,to optimize the spacing of the scintillator detector array and to investigate its effective *** analysis was conducted at various zenith angles under different detector spacings,including 300,500,600,700,and 900 *** results indicate that,for large zenith angles used to search for cosmic-ray in the GRAND project,the optimized effective area is with a detector spacing of 500 *** G4GRANDProto300 software that we developed could be used to further optimize the layout of the particle detector array in future work.

By refueling aircraft while they are in flight,aerial refueling is an efficient technique to extend their endurance and *** Aerial Refueling(AAR)is anticipated to be used to complete aerial refueling for unmanned *** are three aerial refueling methods:the Probe-and-Drogue Refueling(PDR)refueling method,the flying-boom refueling method,and the boom-drogue-adapter refueling *** paper considers the PDR approach,the most challenging of the three,because the flexible hose-drogue assembly has fast dynamics and is susceptible to various kinds of winds,which makes the probe docking with the drogue *** is divided into four phases,namely the rendezvous phase,joining phase,refueling phase,and reform phase,with the refueling phase being the most *** controller design faces the greatest challenge during the docking control of the refueling phase since it calls for a high level of safety,precision,and *** a result,the modeling and control issues encountered during the refueling phase are typical and *** fundamental idea of AAR is presented in the paper first,after which the characteristics and requirements of AAR are *** progress in modeling and control techniques for the AAR’s refueling phase is then systematically ***,potential future work for high safety,precision,and efficiency requirements is examined and suggested.

Preparation and Characterization of Biobased Dehydroabietyl Polyethylene Glycol Glycidyl Ether-Grafted Hydroxyethyl Cellulose with High Emulsifying Property

Prediction and quantification of effective gas source rocks in a lacustrine basin: Western Depression in the Liaohe subbasin, China

Due to limited data on the geochemical properties of natural gas, estimations are needed for the effective gas source rock in evaluating gas potential. However, the pronounced heterogeneity of mudstones in lacustrine successions complicates the prediction of the presence and geochemical characteristics of gas source rocks. In this paper, the Liaohe subbasin of Northeast China is used as an example to construct a practical methodology for locating effective gas source rocks in typical lacustrine basins. Three types of gas source rocks, microbial, oil-type, and coal-type, were distinguished according to the different genetic types of their natural gas. A practical three-dimensional geological model was developed, refined, and applied to determine the spatial distribution of the mudstones in the Western Depression of the Liaohe subbasin and to describe the geochemical characteristics(the abundance, type, and maturation levels of the organic matter). Application of the model in the subbasin indicates that the sedimentary facies have led to heterogeneity in the mudstones, particularly with respect to organic matter types. The effective gas source rock model constructed for the Western Depression shows that the upper sequence(sQ2) of the Fourth member(Mbr 4) of the Eocene shahejie Formation(Fm) and the lower and middle sequences(sQ3 and sQ4) of the Third member(Mbr 3) form the principal gas-generating interval. The total volume of effective gas source rocks is estimated to be 586 km3. The effective microbial, oil-type, and coal-type gas source rocks are primarily found in the shallow western slope, the central sags, and the eastern slope of the Western Depression, respectively. This study provides a practical approach for more accurately identifying the occurrence and geochemical characteristics of effective natural gas source rocks, enabling a precise quantitative estimation of natural gas reserves.

A novel method for extracting and optimizing the complex permittivity of paper-based composites based on an artificial neural network model

Measuring the complex permittivity of ultrathin, flexible materials with a high loss tangent poses a substantial challenge with precision using conventional methods, and verifying the accuracy of test results remains difficult. In this study, we introduce a methodology based on a back-propagation artificial neural network(ANN) to extract the complex permittivity of paper-based composites(PBCs). PBCs are ultrathin and flexible materials exhibiting considerable complex permittivity and dielectric loss tangent. Given the absence of mature measurement methods for PBCs and a lack of sufficient data for ANN training, a mapping relationship is initially established between the complex permittivity of honeycomb-structured microwave-absorbing materials(HMAMs, composed of PBCs) and that of PBCs using simulated data. Leveraging the ANN model, the complex permittivity of PBCs can be extracted from that of HMAMs obtained using standard measurement. subsequently, two published methods are cited to illustrate the accuracy and advancement of the results obtained using the proposed approach. Additionally, specific error analysis is conducted, attributing discrepancies to the conductivity of PBCs, the homogenization of HMAMs, and differences between the simulation model and actual objects. Finally, the proposed method is applied to optimize the cell length parameters of HMAMs for enhanced absorption performance. The conclusion discusses further improvements and areas for extended research.
