Developing anatase/rutile phase-junction in Ti O_(2)to construct Z-scheme system is quite effective to improve its photoelectrochemical *** this work,the anatase/rutile phase-junction Ag/Ti O_(2)nanocomposites are developed as photocathodes for hydrogen *** optimized Ag/Ti O_(2)nanocomposite achieves a high current density of 1.28 m A cm-2,an incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency(IPCE)of 10.8%,an applied bias photon-to-current efficiency(ABPE)of 0.32 at 390 nm and a charge carriers’lifetime up to 2000 *** enhancement on photoelectrochemical activity can be attributed to:(ⅰ)the generated Z-scheme system in the anatase/rutile phase-junction Ag/Ti O_(2)photocathode enhances the separation,diffusion and transformation of electron/hole pairs inside the structure,(ⅱ)Ag nanodots modification in the anatase/rutile phases leading to the tuned band gap with enhanced light absorption and(ⅲ)the formed schottky barrier after Ag nanodots surface modification provides enough electron traps to avoid the recombination of photogenerated electrons and *** results here suggest that developing phase-junction nanocomposite as photocathode will provide a new vision for their enhanced photoelectrochemical generation of hydrogen.

The creation of 3D nanofibers offering desirable functions for bone regeneration is developed due to the latest improvisations to the electrospinning *** polymers are among the best choices for medical usage due to their lower costs,high tensile properties,and ease of spinnability compared to natural *** this communication,we report a series of interventions to polymers modified with Mg-based fillers for ideal tissue engineering *** literature survey indicated that these filler materials(e.g.,nano-sized particles)enhanced biocompatibility,antibacterial activity,tensile strength,and anti-corrosive *** review discusses electrospinning parameters,properties,and applications of the poly(ε-caprolactone),poly(lactic acid),poly(3-hydroxybutyric acid-co-3-hydroxy valeric acid),polyurethane,and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone)nanofibers when modified with Mg-based *** report encourages researchers to use synthetic polymers with Mg as fillers and validate them for tissue engineering applications.

Enhancing sustainability in phosphate ore processing:Performance of frying oil as alternative flotation collector for carbonate removal

Recycling waste frying oils for the synthesis of flotation reagents presents a promising avenue for sustainable waste ***,it offers a cost-effective solution for crafting a specialized collector designed to efficiently remove carbonates and enhance phosphate enrichment in froth flotation *** study focuses on the synthesis of an anionic collector using the saponification reaction of a frying oil sample,subsequently applied to the flotation of calcite and *** elucidate the adsorption mechanisms of the frying oil collector(FrOC)and sodium oleate,a reference collector,on fluorapatite,calcite,dolomite,and quartz surfaces,comprehensive experiments were conducted,including zeta potential measurements and Fourier transform infrared *** revealed diverse adsorption affinities of the molecules towards these *** assess the practical performance of the collector,flotation tests were conducted using a natural phosphate ore mixture,employing a BoxBehnken experimental ***,under optimized conditions(pH 9,1000 g/t of FrOC,3.5 min of conditioning,and 6 min of flotation),FrOC exhibited excellent performance,with calcite and dolomite recoveries exceeding 80%,while apatite recovery in the concentrate fraction remained below 10%.This work exemplifies both circular economy practices and the distinctive approach to sustainable mineral processing.

Dear Editors,In the article“serum Iron Overload Activates the sMAD Pathway and Hepcidin Expression of Hepatocytes via sMURF1”,Ning Zhang et *** the molecular mechanisms linking serum iron overload to hepcidin expression,emphasizing the role of sMURF1 as a pivotal regulator of the bone morphogenetic proteins(BMP)/sMAD pathway in response to holo-transferrin induction.1 This research is significant given hepcidin’s crucial role in iron homeostasis and the pathophysiology of iron overload disorders,such as hereditary hemochromatosis.

The association between mycotic pneumonia and neonatal septicemia

Background:Candida species are the fourth most common etiological agents of late-onset infection in the neonatal intensive care unit(NICU)and are responsible for considerable morbidity and ***:From November 2023 to February 2024,we investigated the association of mycotic pneumonia with septicemia in 60 neonates,and their roles of mycotic pneumonia in the morbidity and mortality of neonates in two NICUs in the Al-Ramadi Teaching Hospital for Maternity and ***:All infants in this study had been diagnosed with septicemia and treated with empirical antimicrobial *** early morning nasogastric tube(NG-tube)was used to collect swallowed sputum by suction for culture and sensitivity ***:The average white blood count for the neonates was 8547±5884.5 cells/mm^(2).The mean C-reactive protein was 39.3±26 mg/l,the mean serum albumin was 2.9±0.2 g/dl and the positive bacterial blood culture was 28(46.7%).9(15%)neonates died during the study *** NG-tube culture identified fungal growth in all *** these,49(81.6%)were identified as Candida albicans,6(10%)as Candida tropicalis,and 5(8.3%)as Cryptococcus *** bacterial culture results from the NG-tube samples identified 13(21.6%)patients with gram-positive bacteria and 47(78.3%)with gram-negative ***:We found a prevalence of Candida *** neonates in addition to microbial oxygen tube contamination,indicating a biosafety breach in the neonatal *** infection requires global attention as a probable cause of respiratory failure in neonatal septicemia.

Ultralong hydroxyapatite-based forward osmosis membrane for freshwater generation

Increasing global water shortages are accelerating the pace of membrane manufacturing,which generates many environmentally harmful *** challenges need a radical rethink of developing innovative membranes that can address freshwater production without generating environmentally harmful *** work utilized the synthesized ultra-long hydroxyapatite(UHA)by the solvothermal method using the green solvent oleic acid in preparing UHA-based forward osmosis *** membranes were developed using different loading ratios of graphene oxide(GO)by vacuum-assisted filtration *** prepared GO/UHA membranes were identified using X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscope,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,and X-ray photoelectron *** contact angle and pore size distribution were determined for the obtained GO/UHA *** obtained hierarchical porous structure in the prepared membranes with interconnected channels results in a stable water flux with reverse salt *** best water flux rate of 42±2 L·m^(–2)·h^(–1)was achieved using the 50 mg GO/UHA membrane,which is 3.3 times higher than the pristine membrane,and a reverse salt flux of 67 g·m^(-2)·h^(–1).The obtained results showed a promising capability of a new generation of sustainable inorganic-based membranes that can be utilized in freshwater generation by energy-efficient techniques such as forward osmosis.

Lacidipine,thiamine pyrophosphate and their combination on the ocular ischemic syndrome induced by bilateral common carotid artery ligation

AIM:To investigate the effect of lacidipine,thiamine pyrophosphate(TPP)and the combination of lacidipine and TPP against oxidative and inflammatory eye damage induced by bilateral common carotid artery ligation in ***:Male albino Wistar rats were categorized as those who underwent sham surgery(sG),right and left common carotid cross-clamping and unclamping procedure(CCU),lacidipine+CCU(LCCU),TPP+CCU(TCCU),and combination of lacidipine and TPP(LTC)+CCU(LTCCU).One hour before anesthesia,the LCCU(n=6)received lacidipine(4 mg/kg,orally)and the TCCU(n=6)received TPP(20 mg/kg,intraperitoneally).The sG(n=6)and CCU(n=6)received the same volume of distilled water from the same *** anesthesia(60 mg/kg ketamine,intraperitoneally),the necks of the rats were opened in the *** was created for 10min by placing clips on the right and left common carotid *** in the sG only underwent subcutaneous *** 10min,the clips were removed and reperfusion was achieved for six ***,the animals were euthanized(120 mg/kg ketamine,intraperitoneally)and the levels of oxidant,antioxidant and proinflammatory cytokines in the eye tissues were *** retinal tissue of the eye was also examined ***:Lacidipine,TPP,and LTC significantly prevent the increase in malondialdehyde,tumor necrosis factoralpha,interleukin-1β(IL-1β),and IL-6 levels,decrease in total glutathione levels,superoxide dismutase and catalase activities and histopathological retinal damage in eye tissue induced by bilateral common carotid artery ligation in *** impact of these drugs on protection is determined to be LTC>lacidipine>***:As a result of the study,it is concluded that LTC may be more effective than lacidipine and TPP alone in treating ocular ischemic syndrome.

Anomaly-Based Intrusion DetectionModel Using Deep Learning for IoT Networks

The rapid growth of Internet of Things(IoT)devices has brought numerous benefits to the interconnected ***,the ubiquitous nature of IoT networks exposes them to various security threats,including anomaly intrusion *** addition,IoT devices generate a high volume of unstructured *** intrusion detection systems often struggle to cope with the unique characteristics of IoT networks,such as resource constraints and heterogeneous data *** the unpredictable nature of network technologies and diverse intrusion methods,conventional machine-learning approaches seem to lack *** numerous research domains,deep learning techniques have demonstrated their capability to precisely detect *** study designs and enhances a novel anomaly-based intrusion detection system(AIDs)for IoT ***,a sparse Autoencoder(sAE)is applied to reduce the high dimension and get a significant data representation by calculating the reconstructed ***,the Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)technique is employed to create a binary classification *** proposed sAE-CNN approach is validated using the Bot-IoT *** proposed models exceed the performance of the existing deep learning approach in the literature with an accuracy of 99.9%,precision of 99.9%,recall of 100%,F1 of 99.9%,False Positive Rate(FPR)of 0.0003,and True Positive Rate(TPR)of *** addition,alternative metrics,such as training and testing durations,indicated that sAE-CNN performs better.
