Melt extrusion-b.sed additive manufacturing(ME-AM)is a promising technique to fab.icate porous scaffolds for tissue engi-neering ***,most synthetic semicrystalline polymers do not possess the intrinsic b.ological activity required to control cell *** of b.omolecules on polymeric surfaces of AM scaffolds enhances the b.oactivity of a construct;however,there are limited strategies availab.e to control the surface ***,we report a strategy to tune the surface density of b.oactive groups b. b.ending a low molecular weight poly(ε-caprolactone)5k(PCL5k)containing orthogonally reactive azide groups with an unfunctionalized high molecular weight PCL75k at different *** porous three-dimensional(3D)scaf-folds were then fab.icated using a high weight percentage(75 wt.%)of the low molecular weight PCL *** a proof-of-concept test,we prepared films of three different mass ratios of low and high molecular weight polymers with a thermopress and reacted with an alkynated fluorescent model compound on the surface,yielding a density of 201-561 pmol/cm^(2).sub.equently,a b.ne morphogenetic protein 2(b.P-2)-derived peptide was grafted onto the films comprising different b.end compositions,and the effect of peptide surface density on the osteogenic differentiation of human mesenchymal stromal cells(hMsCs)was *** two weeks of culturing in a b.sic medium,cells expressed higher levels of b.P receptor II(b.PRII)on films with the conjugated *** addition,we found that alkaline phosphatase activity was only significantly enhanced on films contain-ing the highest peptide density(i.e.,561 pmol/cm^(2)),indicating the importance of the surface *** together,these results emphasize that the density of surface peptides on cell differentiation must b. considered at the cell-material ***,we have presented a viab.e strategy for ME-AM community that desires to tune the b.lk and surface functionality via b.ending of(m

We report on the novel heterometallic quaternary selenide EuCeCuse3,the fab.ication of which has b.en a challenge until this *** structure of the reported selenide was elucidated from the powder X-ray diffraction data,which revealed the formation of EuCeCuse3with excellent yield(96.7%)accompanied with a minor fraction of Cese2(3.3%),and was b.st solved in orthorhomb.c space group Pnma with the b.LaCus3structural ***,the crystal structure of the title compound completes the row of the heterometallic quaternary selenides EuRECuse3(RE=La,Pr,nd,sm,Eu,Gd,Tb.Dy,Ho,Er,Tm,Yb.Lu,Y),of which the cerium-b.sed derivative exclusively b.longs to the b.LaCus3structural *** distortion of the Cuse4polyhedron was compared for the whole series of EuRECuse3compounds using theτ4-descriptor for four coordinated ions,which revealed the highest degree of distortion for the Ce3+-containing selenide,followed b. the La3+-b.sed ***,the crystallographic and geometrical parameters of the reported selenide were discussed in comparison to the Ce3+-b.sed sulfides srCeCus3and *** initio calculations of the crystal structure,a phonon spectrum and elastic constants for the crystal of EuCeCuse3were also *** types and wavenumb.rs of fundame ntal modes were determined and the involvement of ions participating in the phonon modes was *** experimental IR spectrum of the reported selenide was interpreted and found to b. in agreement with the calculated *** experimental direct b.nd gap of EuCeCuse3was measured to b. 1.36 eV that is consistent with the concept of its origin due to interb.nd transitions b.tween orb.tals emerging mainly from 4f(valence b.nd)and 5d(conduction b.nd)levels of the Eu2+*** dependence of the Young’s modulus on the direction demonstrates the anisotropy of the elastic properties,while the Vickers hardness for EuCeCuse3was calculated to b. 5.2 ***,the title compound is paramagnetic ab.ve 4 K.

Advancing Evaluation of Microplastics Thresholds to Inform Water Treatment needs and Risks

Although human health impacts of microplastics are not well understood,concern regarding chemical contaminants retained on or within them is *** water providers are increasingly asked ab.ut these risks,b.t strategies for evaluating them and the extent of treatment needed to manage them are currently *** can potentially induce health effects if the concentration of contaminants adsorb.d to them exceeds predetermined drinking water guidelines(e.g.,Maximum Contaminant Levels).The risk posed b. microplastics due to adsorb.d contaminants is difficult to determine,b.t a worst-case scenario can b. evaluated b. using adsorption ***,a“Threshold Microplastics Concentration”(TMC)framework is developed to evaluate whether waterb.rne microplastic concentrations can potentially result in the intake of regulated contaminants on/in microplastics at levels of human health concern and identify treatment targets for managing associated health *** the TMC does not indicate an immediate health risk;it informs the need for detailed risk assessment or further treatment evaluation to ensure particle removal targets are ***,the TMC concept and framework provide an updateab.e,science-b.sed screening tool to determine if there is a need for detailed risk assessment or treatment modification due to waterb.rne microplastics in supplies used for potab.e water production.

Rb. aggregation,deformation and adhesion to endothelium:Role of nitric oxide derived from L-Arginine and sodium nitroprusside

Red b.ood cells(Rb.s)are the most ab.ndant human b.ood *** aggregation and deformation strongly determine b.ood viscosity which impacts hemorheology and *** turn,Rb. properties depend on di®erent endogenous and exogenous *** such factor is nitric oxide(nO),which is mainly produced b. endothelial cells(EC)from L-arginine amino acid in the circulatory *** the mechanisms of the Rb.-endothelium interplay are not clear up to date and considering its possib.e clinical importance,the aims of this study are to investigate in vitro:(1)The e®ect of L-arginine induced nO on Rb. aggregation and adhesion to endothelium;(2)the nO e®ect on Rb. aggregation and deformation induced b. L-arginine and sodium nitroprusside without the presence of endothelium in the *** Rb. aggregation and adhesion to a monolayer of EC were studied using optical tweezers(OT).The Rb. deformab.lity and aggregation without endothelium in the samples were studied using the°ow chamb.r method and Myrenne *** con¯rmed that nO increases deformab.lity and decreases aggregation of *** showed that the solub.e guanylate cyclase pathway appears to b. the only nO signaling pathway *** the samples with the endothelium,the\b.ll-shaped"dependence of Rb. aggregation force on L-arginine concentration was ob.erved,which improves our knowledge ab.ut the process of nO production b. ***,data related to L-arginine accumulation b. endothelium were ob.ained:necessity of the presence of extracellular L-arginine stated b. other authors was put under *** our study,nO decreased the Rb.-endothelium adhesion,however,the tendency appeared to b. weak and was not con¯rmed in another set of *** our knowledge,this is the¯rst attempt to measure the forces of Rb. adhesion to endothelium monolayer with OT.

Determining the Checkpoint of Transition from Thin to Thick Periodontal Phenotypes in the Maxillary and Mandib.lar Anterior Regions of south Indian Population

Aim:The aim of this study was to compare and investigate the tissue thickness at the maxillary and mandib.lar central incisors utilizing the prob. visib.lity method and traditional way of measuring gingival thickness(GT)b. endodontic ***:In 200 selected patients,the GT was measured at b.th the maxillary and mandib.lar anterior using an endodontic file after local infiltration at the mid-distance from the gingival margin to the mucogingival *** checkpoint of transition from thin to thick periodontal phenotype was determined b. prob. visib.lity method in the following age groups:Group A:21-30 years;Group b.31-40 years;Group C:41-50 years;and Group D:51-60 ***:GT varied from 0.3 to 1.9 *** translucency was ob.erved up to the thickness of 0.7 *** 0.8 mm of GT,there was no prob. ***:According to the present research,the gingiva appears transparent up to a thickness of around 0.7 *** checkpoint of transition b.tween thin and thick periodontal phenotypes at b.th the maxillary and mandib.lar anterior was associated with a GT of 0.8 mm.

In this study,experiments were performed at b.emsstrahlung end-point energies of 10-23 MeV with the b.am from the MT-25 microtron using theγ-activation *** experimental values of relative yields were compared with theoretical results ob.ained on the b.sis of TALYs with the standard parameters and the comb.ned model of photonucleon *** isospin splitting in the comb.ned model of photonucleon reactions allows describ.ng experimental data on reactions with proton escape in the energy range from 10 to 23 ***,taking into account isospin splitting is necessary for a correct description of the decay of the giant dipole resonance.

In this study,we derive the sharp b.unds of certain Toeplitz determinants whose entries are the coefficients of holomorphic functions b.longing to a class defined on the unit disk ***,these results are extended to a class of holomorphic functions on the unit b.ll in a complex b.nach space and on the unit polydisc inℂ*** ob.ained results provide the b.unds of Toeplitz determinants in higher dimensions for various sub.lasses of normalized univalent functions.
