Application of multi-algorithm ensemble methods in high-dimensional and small-sample data of geotechnical engineering:A case study of swelling pressure of expansive soils

Geotechnical engineering data are usually small-sample and high-dimensional,which brings a lot of challenges in predictive *** paper uses a typical high-dimensional and small-sample swell pressure(P_(s))dataset to explore the possibility of using multi-algorithm hybrid ensemble and dimensionality reduction methods to mitigate the uncertainty of soil parameter *** on six machine learning(ML)algorithms,the base learner pool is constructed,and four ensemble methods,stacking(sG),Blending(BG),Voting regression(VR),and Feature weight linear stacking(FWL),are used for the multi-algorithm ***,the importance of permutation is used for feature dimensionality reduction to mitigate the impact of weakly correlated variables on predictive *** results show that the proposed methods are superior to traditional prediction models and base ML models,where FWL is more suitable for modeling with small-sample datasets,and dimensionality reduction can simplify the data structure and reduce the adverse impact of the small-sample effect,which points the way to feature selection for predictive *** on the ensemble methods,the feature importance of the five primary factors affecting P_(s) is the maximum dry density(31.145%),clay fraction(15.876%),swell percent(15.289%),plasticity index(14%),and optimum moisture content(13.69%),the influence of input parameters on P_(s) is also investigated,in line with the findings of the existing literature.

Background Necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC)is the most common severe gastrointestinal emergency in *** designed this study to identify the pathogenic microorganisms of NEC in the microbiota of the small intestine of *** Using the 16s ribosomal DNA(rDNA)sequencing method,we compared and analyzed the structure and diversity of microbiotas in the intestinal feces of different groups of neonates:patients undergoing jejunostomy to treat NEC(NP group),neonates undergoing jejunostomy to treat other conditions(NN group),and neonates with NEC undergoing conservative treatment(NC group).We took intestinal feces and saliva samples from patients at different time *** The beta diversities of the NP,NN,and NC groups were all *** comparing the beta diversities between different time points in the NP group,we found similar beta diversities at time points El to E3 but significant differences between the E2-E3 and E4 time points:the abundances of Klebsiella and Enterococcus(Proteobacteria)were higher at the E1-E3 time points;the abundance of Escherichia-shigella(Proteobacteria)increased at the E2 time point,and the abundance of Klebsiella decreased significantly,whereas that of streptococcus increased significantly at the E4 time *** Our results suggest that the pathological changes of intestinal necrosis in the small intestine of infants with NEC are not directly caused by excessive proliferation of pathogenic bacteria in the small *** sources of microbiota in the small intestine of neonates,especially in premature infants,may be affected by multiple factors.

A passive sampler for synchronously measuring inorganic and organic pollutants in sediment porewater:Configuration and field application

In situ measurement of multiple pollutants coexisting in sediment porewater is an essential step in comprehensively assessing the bioavailability and risk of pollutants,but to date,this needs to be better *** this study,a passive sampler,consisting of an“I-shaped”supporting frame and inorganic/organic sampling units,incorporating equilibrium dialysis theory and kinetic/equilibrium sorption principle,was developed for the synchronous measurement of inorganic(e.g.,phosphorus and metal(loid)s)and organic pollutants(e.g.,parent and substituted PAHs).The equilibrium time and sampling rates were explored in laboratory tests to support in situ *** of pollutants in porewater within a vertical resolution of centimeters,i.e.,1 cm and 2 cm for inorganic and organic pollutants,respectively,were obtained by field deployment of the sampler for further estimation of diffusive fluxes across the sediment-water *** results suggested that the role of sediments for a specific pollutant may change(e.g.,from“sink”to“source”)during the sampling *** study demonstrated the feasibility of synchronous measurement of inorganic and organic pollutants in sediment porewater by the passive *** addition,it provided new insight for further investigation into the combined pollution effects of various pollutants in sediments.

Natural events have had a significant impact on overall flight activity,and the aviation industry plays a vital role in helping society cope with the impact of these *** one of the most impactful weather typhoon seasons appears and continues,airlines operating in threatened areas and passengers having travel plans during this time period will pay close attention to the development of tropical *** paper proposes a deep multimodal fusion and multitasking trajectory prediction model that can improve the reliability of typhoon trajectory prediction and reduce the quantity of flight scheduling *** deep multimodal fusion module is formed by deep fusion of the feature output by multiple submodal fusion modules,and the multitask generation module uses longitude and latitude as two related tasks for simultaneous *** more dependable data accuracy,problems can be analysed rapidly and more efficiently,enabling better decision-making with a proactive versus reactive *** multiple modalities coexist,features can be extracted from them simultaneously to supplement each other’s *** actual case study,the typhoon Lichma that swept China in 2019,has demonstrated that the algorithm can effectively reduce the number of unnecessary flight cancellations compared to existing flight scheduling and assist the new generation of flight scheduling systems under extreme weather.

In multi-fed grid-connected systems,there are complex dynamic interactions between different pieces of *** in situations of weak-grid faults,the dynamic coupling between equipment becomes more *** may cause the system to experience small-signal instability during the fault *** this paper,multi-paralleled doubly fed induction generator(DFIG)-based wind farms(WFs)are taken as an example to study the dynamic coupling within a multi-fed system during fault steady-state of symmetrical low voltage ride-through(LVRT)in a weak *** analysis reveals that the dynamic coupling between WFs will introduce a damping shift to each *** inevitably affects the system’s dynamic stability and brings the risk of small-signal instability during fault steady-state in LVRT *** the distance to fault location and fault severity will exacerbate the dynamic coupling between *** of the dynamic coupling,adjusting the control state of one WF will affect the stability of the remaining WFs in the ***,a cooperative control strategy for multi-paralleled DFIG WFs is proposed to improve dynamic stability during *** analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy are verified by modal analysis and simu-lation.

CsPbI_(3)perovskite quantum dots(QDs)are ideal materials for the next generation of red light-emitting ***,the low phase stability of CsPbI_(3)QDs and long-chain insulating capping ligands hinder the improvement of device *** in-situ ligand replacement and ligand exchange after synthesis were often difficult to ***,we proposed a new ligand exchange strategy using a proton-prompted insitu exchange of short 5-aminopentanoic acid ligands with long-chain oleic acid and oleylamine ligands to obtain stable small-size CsPbI_(3)*** exchange strategy maintained the size and morphology of CsPbI_(3)QDs and improved the optical properties and the conductivity of CsPbI_(3)QDs *** a result,high-efficiency red QD-based light-emitting diodes with an emission wavelength of 645 nm demonstrated a record maximum external quantum efficiency of 24.45%and an operational half-life of 10.79 h.

Chord length sampling correction analysis for dispersion fuel in Monte Carlo simulation

Dispersion fuels,knowned for their excellent safety performance,are widely used in advanced reactors,such as hightemperature gas-cooled *** with deterministic methods,the Monte Carlo method has more advantages in the geometric modeling of stochastic *** explicit modeling method has high computational accuracy and high computational *** chord length sampling(CLs)method can improve computational efficiency by sampling the chord length during neutron transport using the matrix chord length?s probability density *** study shows that the excluded-volume effect in realistic stochastic media can introduce certain deviations into the CLs.A chord length correction approach is proposed to obtain the chord length correction factor by developing the Particle code based on equivalent transmission *** numerical analysis against reference solutions from explicit modeling in the RMC code,it was demonstrated that CLs with the proposed correction method provides good accuracy for addressing the excludedvolume effect in realistic infinite stochastic media.

A new approach to allylic alkylation is realized using an atomically dispersed palladium catalyst(Pd1/TiO2-EG).Unlike conventional methods that require derivation of substrates and utilization of additives,this method allows for direct allylic alkylation from allylic alcohols,producing H2O as the sole *** catalyst's high efficiency is attributed to the local hydrogen bonding at the or-ganic-inorganic interface(Pd-EG interface),facilitating hydroxyl group activation forη3π-allyl complex *** system demonstrates successful direct C—O and C—C coupling reactions with high selectivity,requiring no *** study highlights the potential of supported atomically dispersed catalysts for greener and more efficient catalysis,meanwhile,offers unique insights into the distinct behavior of atomically dispersed catalysts in comparison to homogeneous or nanoparticle-based catalysts.
