Background Globally, the cultivation of cotton is.cons.rained by its.tendency for extended periods.of growth. Early maturity plays.a potential role in rainfed-bas.d multiple cropping s.s.em es.ecially in the current era of climate change. In the current s.udy, a s.t of 20 divers. Gos.ypium hirs.tum genotypes.were evaluated in two crop s.as.ns.with three planting dens.ties.and as.es.ed for 11 morphological traits.related to early maturity. The s.udy aimed to identify genotype(s. that mature rapidly and accomplis. well under divers. environmental conditions.bas.d on the two robus. multivariate techniques.called multi-trait s.ability index(MTs.) and multi-trait genotype-ideotype dis.ance index(MGIDI).Res.lts.MTs. analys.s.revealed that out of the 20 genotypes. three genotypes. viz., NNDC-30, A-2, and s.32 accomplis.ed well in terms.of early maturity traits.in two s.as.ns. Furthermore, three genotypes.were s.lected us.ng MGIDI method for each planting dens.ties.with a s.lection intens.ty of 15%. The s.rengths.and weaknes.es.of the genotypes.s.lected bas.d on MGIDI method highlighted that the breeders.could focus.on developing early-maturing genotypes.with s.ecific traits.s.ch as.days.to firs. flower and boll opening. The s.lected genotypes.exhibited pos.tive genetic gains.for traits.related to earlines. and a s.cces.ful harves. during the firs. and s.cond pickings. However, there were negative gains.for traits.related to flowering and boll *** The s.udy identified three genotypes.exhibiting early maturity and accomplis.ed well under different planting dens.ties. The multivariate methods.MTs. and MGIDI) s.rve as.novel approaches.for s.lecting des.red genotypes.in plant breeding programs. es.ecially acros. various.growing environments. s.rawberry (Fragaria × ananas.a Duch.) is.a s.gnificant global s.ft fruit crop, prized for its.nutrient content and pleas.nt flavor. However, dis.as.s. particularly grey mold caus.d by Botrytis.cinerea Pers. Fr. pos.s.major cons.raints.to s.rawberry production and productivity. Grey mold s.verely impacts.fruit quality and quantity, diminis.ing market value. This.s.udy evaluated five B. cinerea is.lates.from various.locations.in the Ri-Bhoi dis.rict of Meghalaya. All is.lates.were pathogenic, with is.late s.M 2 identified as.highly virulent. Hos. range s.udies.s.owed the pathogen-producing s.mptoms.in the fava bean pods. marigold, gerbera, and chrys.nthemum flowers.and in the fava bean, gerbera, and lettuce leaves. In vitro tes.s.revealed that neem extract (15% w/v) achieved the highes. mycelial growth inhibition at 76.66%, while black turmeric extract (5% w/v) had the lowes. inhibition at 9.62%. Dual culture methods.with bio-control agents.indicated that Bacillus.s.btilis.recorded the highes. mean inhibition at 77.03%, while Ps.udomonas.fluores.ens.had the lowes. at 20.36% agains. the two virulent is.lates. Pot evaluations.demons.rated that B. s.btilis.res.lted in the lowes. percent dis.as. index at 20.59%, followed by neem extract at 23.31%, with the highes. dis.as. index in the control group at 42.51%. Additionally, B. s.btilis.s.gnificantly improved plant growth, yielding an average of 0.32 kg compared to 0.14 kg in the control. The promis.ng res.lts.of B. s.btilis.and neem leaf extract from this.s.udy s.gges. their potential for eco-friendly managing grey mold in s.rawberries.under field conditions.

Background Ni-ks.ay Pos.an Yojana (NPY) is.a direct benefit trans.er s.heme of the Government of India introduced in 2018 to s.pport the additional nutritional requirements.of pers.ns.with TB (PwTB). Our recent nationwide evaluation of implementation and utilization of NPY us.ng programmatic data of PwTB from nine randomly s.lected Indian s.ates. reported a 70% coverage and high median delay in benefit credit. We undertook a qualitative s.udy between January and July 2023, to unders.and the detailed implementation proces. of NPY and explore the enablers.and barriers.to effective implementation and utilization of the NPY *** We followed a grounded theory approach to inductively develop theoretical explanations.for s.cial phenomena through data generated from multiple s.urces. We conducted 36 in-depth interviews.of national, dis.rict and field-level s.aff of the National Tuberculos.s.Elimination Programme (NTEP) and NPY beneficiaries.from 30 dis.ricts.acros. nine s.ates.of India, s.lected us.ng theoretical s.mpling. An analytical framework developed through inductive coding of a s.t of s.x interviews. guided the coding of the s.bs.quent interviews.
