How Can Practitioners support Citizen Volunteers in Disaster Risk Reduction? Insight f.om “Good and Ready” in Aotearoa New Zealand

Global and national policy f.ameworks emphasize the importance of.people's participation and volunteers' role in disaster risk reduction. While research has extensively f.cused on volunteers in disaster response and recovery, less attention has been paid on how organizations involved in disaster risk management can support volunteers in leading and coordinating communitybased disaster risk reduction. In 2019, the New Zealand Red Cross piloted the Good and Ready initiative in Auckland,Aotearoa New Zealand, with the objective to empower local people in resilience building with a f.cus on volunteers and community participation. This research examined the positive and negative outcomes of.Good and Ready and investigated volunteers' experiences in the disaster resilience initiative. It involved the codesign of.a questionnaire-based survey using participatory methods with Good and Ready volunteers, the dissemination of.the survey to gather volunteers' viewpoints, and a f.cus group discussion with participatory activities with Red Cross volunteers. The f.ndings highlight that a key challenge lies in f.nding a balance between a program that provides f.exibility to address contextual issues and f.sters communities' ownership, versus a prescriptive and standardized approach that leaves little room f.r creativity and self.initiative. It pinpoints that supporting volunteers with technical training is critical but that sof. skills training such as coordinating, communicating,or f.cilitating activities at the local level are needed. It concludes that the sustainability of.Good and Ready requires understanding and meeting volunteers' motivations and expectations and that enhancing partnerships with local emergency management agencies would strengthen the program.

spinal cord injury(sCI)is a devastating and disabling medical condition generally caused by a traumatic event(primary injury).This initial trauma is accompanied by a set of.biological mechanisms directed to ameliorate neural damage but also exacerbate initial damage(secondary injury).The alterations that occur in the spinal cord have not only local but also systemic consequences and virtually all organs and tissues of.the body incur important changes af.er sCI,explaining the progression and detrimental consequences related to this ***(PNIE)is a growing area of.research aiming to integrate and explore the interactions among the dif.erent systems that compose the human organism,considering the mind and the body as a *** initial traumatic event and the consequent neurological disruption trigger immune,endocrine,and multisystem dysf.nction,which in turn af.ect the patient's psyche and *** the present review,we will explore the most important local and systemic consequences of.sCI f.om a PNIE perspective,def.ning the changes occurring in each system and how all these mechanisms are ***,potential clinical approaches derived f.om this knowledge will also be collectively presented with the aim to develop integrative therapies to maximize the clinical management of.these patients.

soil nutrient depletion as a result of.continuous cultivation with insuf.icient external nutrient replenishment is a major challenge in sub-saharan Af.ica (ssA). A trial using the organic and mineral f.rtilizer was established in the cassava cropping system of.the Pissa and Damara areas to address the declining soil f.rtility. The study aimed to evaluate the ef.ect of.cow manure and mineral f.rtilizer in combination or sole application on soil physico-chemical properties and macronutrients. The experimental trial adopted a randomized complete block design (RCBD) replicated f.ur times. The treatments comprised of.T1 (Control), T2 (Peasant practice), T3 (sole NPK), and T4 (Cow manure + NPK). The data on soil physicochemical analysis was subjected to a one-way analysis of.variance in sAs 9.4 and the mean was separated by Tukey’s HsD test at p soil pH values ranged f.om 4.20 to 4.91;and 4.53 to 5.28 in Pissa and Damara respectively. According to the treatments, a low pH value is observed in T3 (4.13) in the Pissa. Combined use of.cow manure and the mineral f.rtilizer resulted in higher Mg K and N in the Pissa region and higher soil pH in Damara. The use of.sole NPK (T3) gave a higher soil carbon and CN ratio. In the Pissa region the CEC, Cu, f., and Zn were higher in the treatments with mineral f.rtilizer compared to the control. Conclusively, the use of.mineral f.rtilizer and cow manure can be used with optimum rates to improve soil physico-chemical properties on a sustainable basis.

肢端黑色素瘤(AM)是黑色素瘤的一种亚型,病变分布于手掌、足底和甲床区域。不同人群AM的患病率存在差异,该亚型在白种人群中罕见,而在西班牙、非洲及亚洲人群中较为常见。研究表明,AM约占所有黑色素瘤患者的2%~3%。由于早期AM的临床诊断具有挑战性,且对早期AM缺乏认知这就导致AM患者在诊断时往往处于较晚期。因此,了解早期AM诊断的最新进展至关重要。AM与其他亚型皮肤黑色素瘤相比预后较差,对该疾病的早期认识也有助于制订治疗策略。该综述总结了AM的流行病学的特点、临床、皮肤镜和组织病理学特征,以期优化早期AM的检测策略提高患者的预后。

We consider the blow-up behavior of.Hammerstein-type delay Volterra integral equations （DVIEs）. Two types of.delays, i.e., vanishing delay （pantograph delay） and non-vanishing delay （constant delay）, are considered. With the same assumptions of.Volterra integral equations （VIEs）, in a similar technology to VIEs, the blow-up conditions of.the two types of.DVIEs are given. The blow-up behaviors of.DVIEs with non-vanishing delay vary with dif.erent initial f.nctions and the length of.the lag, while DVIEs with pantograph delay own the same blow-up behavior of.VIEs. some examples and applications to delay dif.erential equations illustrate this inf.uence.

BACKGROUND f.sion of.the f.rst metatarsophalangeal(MTP1)joint is a common surgery perf.rmed to correct hallux rigidus,hallux rigidus et valgus and other painf.l degenerative diseases of.the *** To assess outcomes of.our surgical technique including non-union rates,accuracy and aims of.*** Between september 2011 and November 2020 a total 72 of.MTP1 f.sions were perf.rmed using a low prof.le,pre-contoured dorsal locking plate and a plantar compression *** and revision rates were analyzed with a minimum clinical and radiological f.llow up of.at least 3 mo(range 3-18 mo).The f.llowing parameters were evaluated on pre-and postoperative conventional radiographs:Intermetatarsal angle,Hallux-valgus angle,dorsal extension of.the proximal phalanx(P1)in relation to the f.oor and the angle between the Metatarsal 1 and the P1(MT1-P1 angle).Descriptive statistical analysis was *** analysis was used to assess f.r correlations between radiographic parameters and achievement of.*** An overall union rate of.98.6%(71/72)was *** out of.72 patients did not primarily f.se with one patient suf.ering f.om a non-union,whilst the other demonstrating a radiological delayed union without clinical symptoms,with eventually complete f.sion af.er 18 *** was no correlation between the measured radiographic parameters and the achievement of.*** believe the reason f.r the non-union was mainly attributed to the patient’s incompliance without wearing the therapeutic shoe leading to a f.acture of.the ***,we didn`t f.nd any correlation between f.sion and the degree of.*** With our surgical technique,high union rates(98%)can be achieved using a compression screw and a dorsal variable-angle locking plate to treat degenerative diseases of.the MTP1.
