Fish constitutes the main protein source for the Amazonian ***,the impact of different anthropogenic activities on trace element and metal accumulation in fish and their risks for human health at a regional scale remain largely *** we assessed exposure levels of 10 trace elements andmetals(Cr,Mn,Fe,Ni,Cu,Zn,As,Cd,Pb,and Hg)in 56 samples belonging to 11 different species of fish from the Brazilian *** studied the relationship between exposure levels,fish origin,and fish feeding habits,and assessed toxicological and carcinogenic risks for the Amazonian *** significant correlation was found between sampling site and exposure levels to the studied elements,but a significant difference was found between the accumulation of some metals and the position of the fish species in the food *** concentrations of Cr and Hg in fish flesh were found to exceed the Brazilian limits for human *** study shows that current fish consumption patterns can lead to estimated daily intakes of Hg,As and Cr that exceed the oral reference dose,thus posing a toxicological ***,carcinogenic risks may be expected due to the continued exposure to Cr and *** results of this study show that the consumption of wild caught fish in the Amazon region should be ***,continued monitoring of trace element and metal contamination in fish and on the health of the Amazonian population is recommended,particularly for riverine and indigenous communities.

Microstructure and texture optimization by static recrystallization originating from {10-12} extension twins in a Mg-Gd-Y alloy

During the deformation of Mg alloys,{10-12}extension twin often contributes to the formation of basal texture but rarely assists the nucleation of recrystallization,i.e.,effective grain refinement,therefore it seems to make against the improvement of formability and mechanical *** this work,{10-12}extension twin has been creatively utilized as a preference nucleation site for static recrystallization(sRX),achieving grain refinement and orientation randomization in a Mg-Gd-Y alloy using multi-directional impact forging(MDIF)and subsequent annealing *** of{10-12}extension twin on sRX behavior has been investigated by annealing treatment at 450℃using quasi-in-situ optical microscopy(OM)and quasi-in-situ electron back-scattering diffraction(EBsD).The microstructural evolution during annealing shows that several sRX gains can nucleate from the grain boundary of untwinned grains,but they only have few influences on the final microstructure due to their limited volume faction and sluggish *** contrast,a large number of sRX gains can initiate from{10-12}extension twin and grow up without the confine of twin ***,they consume their parent grains and make the main contribution to grain *** should be attributed to those pinned{10-12}twin boundary,by interacting with various dislocation slips during the MDIF process,which can operate like grain boundary,store enough strain energy,and promote the nucleation of sRX during *** the other hand,sRX grains usually keep initial random orientation and further randomize the forging texture during annealing treatment.

C-reactive protein may be a prognostic factor for the whole gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumor group

BACKGROUND long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs) are a kind of single-stranded RNA of more than 200 nucleotides in length and have no protein-coding function. Amounting studies have indicated that lncRNAs could play a vital role in the initiation and development of cancers, including gastric cancer(GC). Considering the crucial functions of lncRNAs, the identification and exploration of novel lncRNAs in GC is *** To identify independent prognostic markers for the whole gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumor(GEP-NET) *** Ninety-three patients diagnosed with GEP-NETs within a specified period were included in this study. Patient data were retrospectively analyzed. The relationships between all independent variables and 5-year survival status calculated during the follow-up period(months) were assessed. In addition, the relationships between the independent variables were *** When 5-year survival rate was compared, a statistically significant relationship between the age at diagnosis, male gender, tumor size, tumor stage, liver and/or distant metastasis, and tumor grade determined by the Ki-67 level and mitotic count, and the level of C-reactive protein(CRP), was observed. The meansurvival(overall survival) of the study group was 102.5 ± 6.3(sD) mo. The percentages of 1, 3 and 5-year survival were 90%, 72%, and 61%, respectively. In63 of 93 patients, Ki-67 and the mitotic count determined the same grade. The Ki-67 levels in 29 patients and the mitotic count in only 1 patient were in the higher grade. The risk of death increased by 4% for every 1 year increase at the diagnosis age and was 2.0-fold higher for male patients, 3.0-fold higher for G3 according to the mitotic count, 3.7-fold higher for G3 according to the Ki-67 level, 12.7-fold higher for cases with tumor stage 3 or 4 by a 1 cm increase in the ratio of 9% in tumor size, and 6.1-fold higher for patients with liver metastasis for every 1 mg/dl increase in the ratio of 1.5% in CR

Green synthesis of glycolic acid through the electrocatalytic reduction of oxalic acid over black TiO_(2): An experimental and theoretical study

Herein,we present the electrocatalytic four-electron hydrogenation of oxalic acid into glycolic acid using black TiO_(2)as an *** acid is an abundant compound found in several sources of organic *** results showed a high selectivity of black TiO_(2)toward glycolic acid,with the formation of glyoxylic acid being the rate-limiting step (glyoxylic acid is the two-electron intermediate).The highest Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 69.6%±8.3% was achieved at 10.2 mA cm^(-2)in 4 h of electrolysis using an H-type cell operated at room temperature,with 50.2%±3.8% of oxalic acid conversion (degradation kinetic constant k=0.0042±0.0001 min-1),58.8%±7.0%of reaction yield and 1.2±0.18 g l-1of glycolic acid production.A theoretical model of black TiO_(2)coming from anatase TiO_(2)was implemented by introducing Ti3+defects,which gave black TiO_(2)the theoretical capability to easily transform oxalic acid into glycolic acid as experimentally *** reaction mechanism was supported and described in detail by density functional theory calculations,which revealed that surface Ti^(3+)states were the main catalytic *** is the first time that a detailed step-by-step mechanism at the atomic level has been proposed for this electrocatalytic reaction,which represents a valuable contribution to the understanding of this process of high energy/environmental *** is also the first time that black TiO_(2)has been used as an electrocatalyst for this sustainable process.

连通率对不同倾角结构面岩样的力学特性和破坏机制有显著的影响。因此,人工制备了连通率k为0、0.25、0.50、1.00,倾角β为15°、30°、45°、60°的结构面岩样,并利用单轴压缩试验和围压为200、400、600 k Pa的三轴压缩试验来探讨连通率对岩体的力学特性影响。结果表明:(1)连通率对岩体造成的劣化效应显著,随着连通率的增加,其峰值强度呈下降趋势。当连通率k≤0.50时,应力-应变曲线均表现为先应变硬化再应变软化趋势;当连通率k>0.50,应力-应变由低角度的应变软化向高角度的应变硬化转变。(2)结构面岩样的体变均表现为先体缩再体胀。各倾角下,随着连通率的增大,体胀逐渐减小呈规律性排列;当连通率k=1.00,倾角β为30°、45°和60°时,岩样在体缩过程中发生了突变。(3)在能量拐点a之前,耗散能U_d随着连通率的增大而增大,弹性应变能U_(e)随着连通率的增大略微降低;在能量拐点a之后,耗散能U_(d)和弹性应变能U_(e)都急剧增加,不同连通率的能量释放速率大致相当。(4)对不同连通率岩样的预测判据进行了分类,当k<0.5时,β=45。+φ_(j)2适用于判断破坏角度,其中,φ_(j)为结构面内摩擦角;当k≥0.5时,改进的Jaeger判据能准确地反映岩体破坏角度。

BACKGROUND: sepsis is a life-threatening inflammatory condition in which the invading pathogen avoids the host's defense mechanisms and continuously stimulates and damages host cells. Consequently, many immune responses initially triggered for protection become harmful because of the failure to restore homeostasis, resulting in ongoing hyperinflammation and immunosuppression. METHODs: A literature review was conducted to address bacterial sepsis, describe advances in understanding complex immunological reactions, critically assess diagnostic approaches, and emphasize the importance of studying bacterial bottlenecks in the detection and treatment of ***: Diagnosing sepsis via a single laboratory test is not feasible;therefore, multiple key biomarkers are typically monitored, with a focus on trends rather than absolute values. The immediate interpretation of sepsis-associated clinical signs and symptoms, along with the use of specific and sensitive laboratory tests, is crucial for the survival of patients in the early stages. However, long-term mortality associated with sepsis is now recognized, and alongside the progression of this condition, there is an in vivo selection of adapted ***: Bacterial sepsis remains a significant cause of mortality across all ages and societies. While substantial progress has been made in understanding the immunological mechanisms underlying the inflammatory response, there is growing recognition that the ongoing host-pathogen interactions, including the emergence of adapted virulent strains, shape both the acute and long-term outcomes in sepsis. This underscores the urgent need for novel high-throughput diagnostic methods and a shift toward more pre-emptive, rather than reactive, treatment strategies in sepsis care.

Colorectal cancer(CRC)is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death *** leading risk factors for CRC include male gender,age over 50,family history,obesity,tobacco smoking,alco-hol consumption,and unhealthy *** screening methods vary considerably between countries and depend on incidence,economic resources and healthcare *** aspects of screening include adherence,which can vary signi-ficantly across ethnic and socioeconomic *** concepts of CRC screening include pre-stratification of patients by identifying risk factors and then using fecal immunochemical test or guaiac-based fecal occult blood test and/or colono-scopy or radiologic imaging *** capabilities for CRC scree-ning are rapidly evolving and include stool DNA test,liquid biopsy,virtual colo-nography,and the use of artificial intelligence.A CRC prevention strategy should be comprehensive and include active patient education along with targeted imple-mentation of screening.
