Endophytic bacteria of halophytic plants play essential roles in salt stress ***,an understanding of the true nature of plant-microbe interactions under extreme conditions is *** current study aimed to identify cultivable endophytic bacteria associated with the roots and shoots of seidlitzia rosmarinus *** *** in the salt-affected soil in Uzbekistan and to evaluate their plant beneficial traits related to plant growth stimulation and stress *** were isolated from the roots and the shoots of *** using culture-dependent techniques and identified by the 16s rRNA ***(Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism)analysis was conducted to eliminate similar *** showed that the isolates from the roots of *** belonged to the genera Rothia,Kocuria,Pseudomonas,staphylococcus,Paenibacillus and *** bacterial isolates from the shoots of *** belonged to the genera staphylococcus,Rothia,stenotrophomonas,Brevibacterium,Halomonas,Planococcus,Planomicrobium and Pseudomonas,which differed from those of the ***,staphylococcus,Rothia and Brevibacterium were detected in both roots and shoots,indicating possible migration of some species from roots to *** root-associated bacteria showed higher levels of IAA(indole-3-acetic acid)synthesis compared with those isolated from the shoots,as well as the higher production of ACC(1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate)*** findings suggest that halophytic plants are valuable sources for the selection of microbes with a potential to improve plant fitness under saline soils.

Cesarean scar abscess: A case report and a review of the literature

Cesarean section and the resultant Cesarean scar are known to be associated with obstetric complications in subsequent pregnancies. Cesarean scar is also associated with gynecological conditions that can adversely affect the patient’s quality of life. We describe a very rare case of Cesarean scar abscess that developed 8 years after a Cesarean delivery, which was managed by emergency hysterectomy.

In recent years, many software development organizations have been assessing and analyzing their software product’s reliability/quality and judging whether the software product is releasable by using software Reliability Growth Models (sRGMs) at the final stage of software development. The usage of sRGMs originates in the advantage that various reliability analysis results based on the sRGMs can be acquired easily. However, it is very difficult for general software project managers to grasp the achievement level of reliability/quality based on its analysis results because some sort of professional knowledge is required in order to understand the information on the attainment progress of software product’s reliability/quality. Moreover, it is also difficult for software project managers and inspectors who do not deeply comprehend the details of their project to evaluate the degree of software reliability and quality, if they assess it without grasping the live development situation and only see the documents submitted from their staff. In this paper, we propose a new analysis concept for assessing the software product’s reliability/quality, and illustrate the output results obtained by a tool, the safeMan.

Fabrication of Copper Wire Using Glyoxylic Acid Copper Complex and Laser Irradiation in Air

Preparation of a glyoxylic acid copper complex and fabrication of fine copper wire by CO2 laser irradiation in air to a thin film of that complex have been investigated. Irradiating laser to the complex thin film spin-coated on a glass substrate, thin film of metallic copper was fabricated in areas that were subjected to laser irradiation in air. The thickness of this thin copper film was approx. 30 to 40 nm, and as non-irradiated areas were etched and removed by a soluble solvent of the copper complex, fine copper wire with 200 μm width was formed by laser direct patterning. The resistivity of this thin copper film depended on the irradiation intensity of the laser and was 3.0 × 10–5 Ω·cm at 12 W intensity (sweep speed: 20 mm/s). This method enables the high-speed deposition of copper wiring in air by a printing process, indicating an inexpensive and useful process for fabricating copper wiring.

Modeling Farm Management Modernization： Case study of Japanese Rice Farming Corporations

While conventional family-owned and family-operated farms remain the most common structure, the number of Japanese agricultural corporations has increased in recent years as a result of changing policies. some of them are possibly starting to adopt modem corporate management practices to remain viable in a more competitive environment. However, changes in the business structure have not always been accompanied by changes in farm management practices. This study represents a theoretical and empirical investigation into farm modernization practices to provide perspective and recommendations to enhance farm business. Various aspects of farm modernization were considered, including temporal, economic and functional modernization. Critical elements of farm modernization were examined using a structural equation model of surveys, wherein questionnaires were delivered to 2,260 agricultural corporations across Japan in 2014 and 2016, generating 669 usable responses from rice farming corporations. Overall, these corporations demonstrated moderate degrees of modernization, indicating that they have not yet completely transitioned from conventional management styles to modem corporate management and that the farm-household complex system still exists for many of them. It was also found that farm modernization is significantly affected by both production and business management systems, although it was unclear whether a farmer＇s managerial capabilities were critical for farm modernization. The findings of this study indicate that current farming corporations may benefit from incorporating additional modernization practices. The analytical framework and results will help farmers to better understand their management practices and can be used to provide ideas for policy development to promote competitive farm businesses.

A Concept Analysis of Decision-Making by Families in Critical Life situations

Background: In 2017, the elderly made up 27.3% of Japan’s population, accounting for 57.2% of all ambulance trips. When an elderly person is in a critical life situation, it is difficult to ascertain their decisions about treatment choices, and for family members who become surrogate decision-makers, this is a grave responsibility. Aim: This study aimed to shed light on the constructs that support decision-making by family members and medical staff in critical situations, and to investigate decision-making by families of the elderly in critical situations. Method: We selected 29 papers published in Japan and elsewhere that focused on families involved in treatment decisions in critical life situations and analyzed them using Rodgers’ concept analysis approach. Results: From 475 codes, we extracted six attributes, four antecedents, and four consequences. The unusual setting of the “critical care unit”, lack of time, and unstable psychological state are all considered by family members making treatment decisions, along with the patient’s prognosis, their relationship with the patient, conjecture about the patient’s wishes, and taking other family member’s views into account. Medical staff supports the family throughout the process, through provision of treatment, preparing family members to face reality, empathizing with the difficulty of decision-making, building relationships with family members, monitoring the decision-making process, and being attentive to family members’ feelings until the end. Conclusion: Our results indicate the importance of advance confirmation of patients’ wishes, and the role played by cultural context and family relations in decision-making by family members of the elderly.

BACKGROUND Preoperative chemoradiotherapy regimens using a second drug for locally advanced rectal cancer are still under clinical *** To investigate the clinical outcomes of patients with locally advanced rectal cancer treated with preoperative chemoradiotherapy using tegafur/gimeracil/oteracil(s-1)plus irinotecan(CPT-11).METHODs This was a single-center retrospective study of 82 patients who underwent radical surgery for rectal cancer after chemoradiotherapy with s-1(80 mg/m2/d),CPT-11(60 mg/m2/d),and radiation(total 45 Gy)between 2009 and *** median follow-up was 51 mo(range:17–116 mo).REsULTs Twenty-nine patients(35.4%)had T3 or T4 rectal cancer with mesorectal fascia invasion,36(43.9%)had extramural vascular invasion,24(29.8%)had N2 rectal cancer and eight(9.8%)had lateral lymph node *** relative dose intensity was 90.1%for s-1 and 92.9%for ***-nine patients(96.3%)underwent R0 *** regard to pathological response,13 patients(15.9%)had a pathological complete response and 52(63.4%)a good response(tumor regression grade 2/3).The 5-year local recurrence-free survival,relapsefree survival and overall survival rates were 90.1%,72.5%and 91.3%,*** analyzed the risk factors for local recurrence-free survival by Cox regression analysis and none were *** described risk factors such as T4 stage,mesorectal fascia invasion or lateral lymph node swelling were not detected as negative factors for local recurrence-free *** We demonstrated good compliance and favorable tumor regression in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer treated with preoperative s-1 and CPT-11.

showering in Flint, MI: Is there a DBP problem?

Lead contamination in the City of Flint, MI has been well documented over the past two years, with lead levels above the EPA Action Level until summer 2016. This resulted from an ill-fated decision to switch from Detroit water（Lake Huron） with corrosion control, to Flint River water without corrosion control. Although lead levels are now closer to normal,reports of skin rashes have sparked questions surrounding tap water in some Flint *** study investigated the presence of contaminants, including disinfection by-products（DBPs）, in the hot tap water used for showering in the homes of residents in Flint. Extensive quantitative analysis of 61 regulated and priority unregulated DBPs was conducted in Flint hot and cold tap water, along with the analysis of 50 volatile organic compounds and a nontarget comprehensive, broadscreen analysis, to identify a possible source for the reported skin rashes. For comparison, chlorinated hot and cold waters from three other cities were also sampled, including Detroit, which also uses Lake Huron as its source *** showed that hot water samples generally contained elevated levels of regulated and priority unregulated DBPs compared to cold water samples, but trihalomethanes were still within regulatory limits. Overall, hot shower water from Flint was similar to waters sampled from the three other cities and did not have unusually high levels of DBPs or other organic chemicals that could be responsible for the skin rashes observed by residents. It is possible that an inorganic chemical or microbial contaminant may be responsible.
