The need to feed the increasing world population with high quality protein and the enormous post-harvest losses of okra fruits necessitated the research on okra seeds in this *** flour(WF)of matured okra seed was processed to obtain defatted flour(DF),protein concentrate(PC)and protein isolate(PI),followed by hydrolysis of the protein isolate by three different proteases;pepsin(PHp),pancreatin(PHc)and trypsin(PHT)to produce *** okra seed flours,proteins and the hydrolysates were analyzed for changes in the functional groups using Fourier,Transform Infrared(FTIR),amino acid composition,solubility profile and some functional *** FTIR results showed the presence of N-H stretching,C=O stretching,C=N stretching N-H bending and C-N stretching in the *** hydrolysate had higher essential amino acids(51.32–53.01%)than unhydrolysed samples(36.31–37.99%).PI and WF had the highest water absorption and swelling capacities *** solubility profiles of the samples were minimal at pH 2–4 and then increased after the isoelectric *** PC was more soluble than PI between pH 2–*** foaming properties of the samples was least in the absence of salt but high in the presence of 0.5 M sodium *** emulsion capacity of the samples was least in the presence of 1.0 M *** in-vitro protein digestibility results showed that okra seed protein hydrolysates were more digestible(83.26–86.08%)than unhydrolyzed proteins(36.48–80.90%).The results of the antioxidant properties showed that PHp and PHT exhibited better radical scavenging and metal chelating activities respectively than the other *** study concluded that okra seed proteins and hydrolysates demonstrated potentials as ingredients in functional food preparation and this may be considered as a strategy to reducing the post-harvest losses of okra fruit and subsequently feeding the world with quality proteins.

This paper proposes a wildfire monitoring and detection system based on wireless sensor network. This system detects fire by monitoring surrounding temperature, humidity and smoke. Once fire is detected, a warning message containing probable location of that fire is immediately sent to the responsible authority over cellular network. In order for the system to be more effective, communities living near forests or national parks can send warning messages through the same system to the responsible authority using their mobile handsets once they witness wildfire or illegal activities. For the system to be fully functional, the only requirement is the availability of cellular network coverage in forests or national parks to enable short message services to take place. The system prototype is developed using Arduino microcontroller, several sensors to detect temperature, relative humidity and smoke as well as wireless network connection modules. At the control center Telerivet messaging platform is used to design the messaging service. The experimental results justify the capability of the proposed system in detecting wildfire in real time.

Achievement of high rate nitritation with aerobic granular sludge reactors enhanced by sludge recirculation events

A ratio control strategy has been used to demonstrate the feasibility of this automatic control procedure for the achievement of stable full and partial nitritation. The control strategy assured constant ratio between the dissolved oxygen （DO） and the total ammonia nitrogen （TAN） concentrations in the bulk liquid of aerobic granular sludge reactors operating in continuous mode. Three different set-ups with different reactor capacities were used （3, 110, and 150L）. High strength synthetic wastewaters and reject water were tested with similar performance. Achieved nitrogen loading rates ranged between 0.4 and 6.1 kgN· m^-3·d^-1, at temperatures between 20℃ and 30℃. 1Granular sludge and nitritation were stable in the long term continuous operation of the reactors. suitable stable effluent for Anammox has been obtained using the desired TAN setpoint （i.e. 50% of influent ammonium oxidation）. An existing biofilm model devel- oped incorporating the implemented control loops and validated in a previous publication was used to investigate the effects of the ammonium concentration of the influent and the biofilm density on the achievement of full nitritation. The model demonstrated how sludge recirculation events led to a stable and significant increase of the biomass concentration in the reactor, which in turn resulted in the achievement of high nitrogen loading rates, due to the action of the control strategy. The model predicted an enhancement of stable full nitritation at higher ammonium concentrations in the influent. Poor influence of the biofilm density in the achievement of full nitritation was predicted with the model.

Background: Forest management faces a climate induced shift in growth potential and increasing current and emerging new risks. Vulnerability analysis provides decision support based on projections of natural resources taking risks and uncertainties into account. In this paper we(1) characterize differences in forest dynamics under three management scenarios,(2) analyse the effects of the three scenarios on two risk factors, windthrow and drought stress, and(3) quantify the effects and the amount of uncertainty arising from climate projections on height increment and drought ***: In four regions in northern Germany, we apply three contrasting management scenarios and project forest development under climate change until 2070. Three climate runs(minimum, median, maximum) based on the emission scenario RCP 8.5 control the site-sensitive forest growth functions. The minimum and maximum climate run define the range of prospective climate ***: The projections of different management regimes until 2070 show the diverging medium-term effects of thinnings and harvests and long-term effects of species conversion on a regional scale. Examples of windthrow vulnerability and drought stress reveal how adaptation measures depend on the applied management path and the decision-maker’s risk attitude. Uncertainty analysis shows the increasing variability of drought risk projections with time. The effect of climate projections on height growth are quantified and uncertainty analysis reveals that height growth of young trees is dominated by the age-trend whereas the climate signal in height increment of older trees is ***: Drought risk is a serious issue in the eastern regions independent of the applied silvicultural scenario,but adaptation measures are limited as the proportion of the most drought tolerant species scots pine is already high. The debate over Chinese foreign economic assistance is a polemical one in international relations circles. As China’s engagement with its neighbors deepens, so too proliferate the questions surrounding China’s motivations. This paper investigates China’s foreign assistance programs in its neighborhood, specifically those targeting the transport infrastructure industry as a vehicle for regional development in Asia. By identifying the primary actors responsible for such assistance programs, this research shows that China’s external assistance is inextricably linked to its own objectives for national development. Furthermore, these assistance programs must be understood in terms of China’s conception of an Asia First policy as well as of south-south cooperation, and, even more so, in the larger context of China’ own development and global rise. Asia’s four sub-regions, southeast Asia, Central Asia, south Asia and Northeast Asia, are exceedingly diverse in terms of political systems, population, and resources, but all share a common plight: weak to non-existent transport infrastructure. China has stepped into the fold with ease to help fill Asia’s developmental gap. "Going global" and China’s "peaceful rise" have been major facilitators for the expansion of Chinese presence regionally. "Going global," once a purely business oriented policy, has become a dual-use tool:one part economic and one part diplomatic to pursue China’s foreign policy objectives, coupling economic partnerships with the realization of broader geopolitical interests. Throughout Asia’s sub-regions, we see a distinct pattern of Chinese involvement in the construction and financing of road and rail. Access to fresh water,its availability,and its quality are a global challenge to humanity,largely due to human activities in the ***,global water security has been jeopardized,requiring urgent remediation to safeguard our very ***,a novel and facilely engineered zirconium and polyethylenimine adsorbent based on tiger nut residue (TNR) was prepared,and its adsorptive capabilities towards a model dyestuff and nutrient were invested through a batch adsorption *** developed adsorbent,zirconium-polyethylenimine-engineered tiger nut residue (TNR@PEI–Zr) was characterised by scanning electron microscopy,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction analysis,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to understand its morphology and surface chemistry and predict its adsorption ***@PEI–Zr had a p H point of zero charge (pH_(zpc)) of *** introduction of salts inhibited the removal efficiency of Alizarin red (AR) and phosphate (PO_(4)^(3–)) in the order of HCO_(3)^(-)>sO_(4)^(2–)>Cl^(-).Increasing temperatures (293–313 k) favoured the adsorption process at pH *** Langmuir model suited the adsorption processes of both AR and PO_(4)^(3–),implying homogenous and monolayer removal of pollutants with a maximal capacity of 537.8 mg·g^(-1)and 100.5 mg·g^(-1)at a dose of 0.01 g,*** rate-determining steps of AR and PO_(4)^(3–)followed a pseudo-secondorder kinetic model and were thermodynamically spontaneous with an increase in randomness at the solid-solution *** adsorbent’s recyclability was notable and outperformed most adsorbents in terms of removal ***@PEI–Zr was found to be stable,and its use in practical wastewater decontamination was effective,ecologically acceptable and free of secondary pollution problems.

A highly efficient and chemoselective dual functionalization of unprotected phenols withα-orβ-hydroxyl acids is presented.A variety of valuable benzofuranones and dihydrocoumarins are delivered in moderate to high *** functional theory(DFT)calculations and control experiments indicate that an untypical Friedel–Crafts alkylation and the subsequent lactonization are catalyzed by the Lewis acid form and the Brønsted acid form of borane,***-scale experiments and late-stage functionalization of complex molecules have been performed to highlight the utility of this reaction.
