The rapid development of high-intensity laser-generated particle and photon secondary sources has attracted widespread interest during the last 20 years not only due to fundamental science research but also because of the important applications of this developing *** instance,the generation of relativistic particle beams,betatron-type coherent X-ray radiation and high harmonic generation have attracted interest from various fields of science and technology owing to their diverse applications in biomedical,material science,energy,space,and security *** the field of biomedical applications in particular,laser-driven particle beams as well as laser-driven X-ray sources are a promising field of *** article looks at the research being performed at the Institute of Plasma Physics and Lasers(IPPL)of the Hellenic Mediterranean University Research *** recent installation of the ZEUs 45 TW laser system developed at IPPL offers unique opportunities for research in laser-driven particle and X-ray *** article provides information about the facility and describes initial experiments performed for establishing the baseline platforms for secondary plasma sources.

Background: Multidrug resistant tuberculosis is a global threat. Effective treatment is implemented as per RNTCP guidelines. But the drugs used have great potential to develop adverse drug reactions. such drug reactions if not managed optimally can lead to unfavourable treatment outcome. Hence, the study is to know the occurrence of adverse drug reactions. Aims: To study the occurrence of adverse drug reactions in treatment of multidrug resistant tuberculosis and hence the factors affecting the treatment. settings and Design: Retrospective analysis of patients treated with standardised regimen for MDR-TB, as per RNTCP guidelines at a tertiary chest institute between august 2011 and December 2014. Methods and Material: Retrospective analysis of 607 patients’ records reviewed for the occurrence of adverse drug reactions. All adverse reactions are noted and diagnosed either clinically or by laboratory evidence. Results: Among the 607 patients included in the study, majority had one or more adverse drug reactions. The most common was gastritis (71.7%), which was easily treatable, and the least common was visual impairment (0.2%). Only 1.7% discontinued the treatment citing adverse drug reactions and 10.5% required permanent discontinuation of the offending drug. Conclusion: Treatment of MDR-TB is challenging mainly due to the long duration of treatment and the potential adverse reactions of the drugs used. These reactions are frequent but majority of them can be successfully managed without treatment interruption. Training the peripheral health centre workers to identify and refer the patients with adverse reaction bears a major impact on treatment outcome.

Natural organic fertilizers are receiving increased attention as a nutrient source for athletic turf fields. However, the performance of these fertilizers as an alternative to inorganic fertilizers is relatively untested. To address this issue, we initiated a study to evaluate turfgrass response to the use of pelletized poultry litter （PPL） as a nutrient source compared to inorganic fertilizer, and to compare core aeration and vibrating aeration. Four treatments were evaluated： synthetic fertilizer with vibrating aeration （Vs）, synthetic fertilizer with core aeration （Cs）, PPL with vibrating aeration （VP）, and PPL with core aeration （CP）. The PPL was applied at a nitrogen （N） rate equivalent to the synthetic fertilizer （assuming 50% availability of N）. Application of PPL did not produce significant changes in measured soil parameters during the 2.5 year study compared to the synthetic fertilizer. Minimal differences in tissue concentrations of Mn were observed. Remote sensing indicated that the Cs treatment, which is the current management practice at the study site, produced the lowest turfgrass quality of all the treatments. Highest turf quality was achieved with the CP and Vs treatments. Application of PPL resulted in greater turfgrass quality when compared to the same N rate of synthetic fertilizer, regardless of aeration method.

We use a technique associated with measures of noncompactness to prove the existence of nondecreasing solutions to an integral equation with linear modification of the argument in the space C[0, 1]. In the last thirty years there has been a great deal of work in the field of differential equations with a modified argument. A special class is represented by the differential equation with affine modification of the argument which can be delay differential equations or differential equations with linear modifications of the argument. High resolution lasers are necessary to derive the most information from molecular spectra. However, their use uncovers some photophysical processes that compromise the ability to resolve rotational structure. We study the influence of laser optical mode structure on the high resolution spectra of the s1 states of benzonitrile in a supersonic molecular beam using an Ar^＋ pumped cw ring dye laser which is amplified by a pulsed Nd： YA G laser. The latter could be operated either in one optical mode by injecting （seeding） its oscillator with a single mode diode laser, or with many optical modes by not using the seeder. Rotationally resolved lines are obtained when the oscillator of the YAG laser are operated in one single optical mode, but only a continuum is seen when the YAG laser has multiple modes. It is argued that the ac stark effect is the most probable reason for broadening and blurring the rotational lines.

In this paper,we consider the implementation of the “cloud" computing strategy to study data sets associated to the atmospheric exploration of the planet Venus. More concretely,the Venus Monitoring Camera (VMC) onboard Venus Express orbiter provided the largest and the longest so far set of ultraviolet (UV),visible and near-IR images for investigation of the atmospheric circulation. To our best knowledge,this is the first time where the analysis of data from missions to Venus is integrated in the context of the "cloud" computing. The followed path and protocols can be extended to more general cases of space data analysis,and to the general framework of the big data analysis.

Motion capture is increasingly used in games and movies, but often requires editing before it can be used, for many reasons. The motion may need to be adjusted to correctly interact with virtual objects or to fix problems that result from mapping the motion to a character of a different size or, beyond such technical requirements, directors can request stylistic ***, editing is laborious because of the lowlevel representation of the data. While existing motion editing methods accomplish modest changes, larger edits can require the artist to "re-animate" the motion by manually selecting a subset of the frames as *** this paper, we automatically find sets of frames to serve as keyframes for editing the motion. We formulate the problem of selecting an optimal set of keyframes as a shortest-path problem, and solve it efficiently using dynamic programming. We create a new simplified animation by interpolating the found keyframes using a naive curve fitting technique. Our algorithm can simplify motion capture to around 10% of the original number of frames while retaining most of its detail. By simplifying animation with our algorithm, we realize a new approach to motion editing and stylization founded on the timetested keyframe interface. We present results that show our algorithm outperforms both research algorithms and a leading commercial tool.

Constituent quark models based on two-body potentials systematically overpredict the mass of △D35(1930). A possible solution to this problem comes out from the application of a schematic hybrid model, containing three-quark as well as meson-baryon components, to the light-quark baryon spectrum. The △D35(1930) and its partners △D33(1940) and △s31(1900) are found to contain a significant ρ△ component. Then, through the use of the hidden gauge formalism, it is shown that these resonances can be dynamically generated from the ρ-△ interaction. In particular △D35(1930) can be interpreted as being essentially a ρ△bound state. This interpretation suggests that the inclusion of ρ△as an effective inelastic channel in data analyses could improve the extraction and identification of the resonance.
