La3+ substitution-adjusted magnetic and optical properties with enhanced photocatalytic activity and stability of copper zinc nickel ferrites for wastewater treatment applications

Herein,we present the electrocatalytic four-electron hydrogenation of oxalic acid into glycolic acid using black TiO_(2)as an *** acid is an abundant compound found in several sources of organic *** results showed a high selectivity of black TiO_(2)toward glycolic acid,with the formation of glyoxylic acid being the rate-limiting step (glyoxylic acid is the two-electron intermediate).The highest Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 69.6%±8.3% was achieved at 10.2 mA cm^(-2)in 4 h of electrolysis using an H-type cell operated at room temperature,with 50.2%±3.8% of oxalic acid conversion (degradation kinetic constant k=0.0042±0.0001 min-1),58.8%±7.0%of reaction yield and 1.2±0.18 g L-1of glycolic acid production.A theoretical model of black TiO_(2)coming from anatase TiO_(2)was implemented by introducing Ti3+defects,which gave black TiO_(2)the theoretical capability to easily transform oxalic acid into glycolic acid as experimentally *** reaction mechanism was supported and described in detail by density functional theory calculations,which revealed that surface Ti^(3+)states were the main catalytic *** is the first time that a detailed step-by-step mechanism at the atomic level has been proposed for this electrocatalytic reaction,which represents a valuable contribution to the understanding of this process of high energy/environmental *** is also the first time that black TiO_(2)has been used as an electrocatalyst for this sustainable process.

A systematic Review on the Comparison between Lumbar Disc Hernia Resection by Endoscopy and Microdiscectomy

Background: surgical treatment of lumbar disc herniation is a widely debated topic, with several techniques available. Percutaneous endoscopic discectomy (PELD) has gained popularity due to its lower invasiveness compared to conventional techniques such as microdiscectomy/open lumbar microdiscectomy (OLMD)/tubular microdiscectomy (TMD). However, evidence on the effectiveness, recovery time and complications of these techniques is not yet clearly established. This systematic review aims to compare the preoperative and postoperative outcomes of both techniques. Methods: A comprehensive search was performed in databases including PubMed and Cochrane, following strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. Comparative studies and narrative reviews on PELD and OLMD/TMD published between 2019 and 2024 were included. Key outcomes considered were pre- and postoperative Visual Analogue scale (VAs), hospitalization time, time to return to work, and postoperative complications. Results: The reviewed studies indicated that PELD is associated with a greater reduction in postoperative pain compared to OLMD/TMD, with a significant decrease in VAs, according to the study by Priola et al. (2019). The hospital stay was also shorter for patients undergoing PELD, averaging 2 days compared to OLMD/TMD. Furthermore, PELD favored a faster return to work and had a lower rate of postoperative complications, such as dural tears and reoperations, compared to OLMD/TMD. Conclusions: PELD demonstrates clear advantages over OLMD/TMD in terms of pain reduction, shorter hospital stay, faster return to work, and fewer postoperative complications. However, the implementation of this technique requires a significant learning curve, suggesting that its effectiveness may vary depending on the surgeon’s experience. PELD should be considered a preferred option in the resection of lumbar disc herniations, especially in patients seeking a quick and less invasive recovery.

BACKGROUnD: Prehospital medication is a reality, and the role of these therapies must be explored to assess their validity, especially for acute respiratory diseases, which are usually associated with increased morbidity. The aim of this study was to examine the association of prehospital medication use with mortality in patients with acute respiratory ***: A prospective, multicenter, emergency medical service(EMs) delivery cohort study was carried out in adults with unselected respiratory diseases managed by EMs who were transferred to the emergency department. From january 1, 2019, to October 31, 2023, six advanced life support units, thirty-eight basic life support units, and four hospitals in spain participated in the study. Demographic data, vital signs, use of mechanical ventilation, prehospital respiratory diagnosis, and prehospital medication were collected. The primary outcome was 30-day in-hospital ***: A total of 961 patients were included, with a mortality rate of 17.5%(168 patients). Age, an increasing number of comorbidities, the use of invasive mechanical ventilation(IMV), the use of major analgesics, hypnotics, and bicarbonate were risk factors. In contrast, elevated systolic blood pressure and Glasgow Coma scale scores were found to be protective factors against mortality. The predictive capacity of the model reached an area under the curve(AUC) of 0.857(95% confidence interval [95% CI] 0.827–0.888).COnCLUsIOn: Our data revealed that IMV, major analgesics, hypnotics and bicarbonate administration were associated with elevated mortality. Adding prehospital drug therapy information to demographic variables and vital signs could improve EMs decision-making, allowing a better characterization of patients at risk of clinical worsening.

This study was conducted to investigate the properties of Pr3+-Dy3+doped Zn2Y-type hexaferrite for potential technological applications.X-ray diffraction（XRD）,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR） and field-emission scanning electron microscopy（FEsEM） were used to analyze structural *** crystallite size in the synthesized samples varies between 57.54 and 68.57 *** vibrational bands at 400 and 600 cm-1,common to all hexaferrites,were confirmed through *** FEsEM analysis reveals an agglomeration of magnetic grains and a decrease in the average grain size from 1.24 to1.06 μ*** M-H loops show that,with x values of 0.0,0.1,and 0.2,the saturation magnetization is determined to be 34.76,34.23,and 32.52 emu/g,*** corresponding coercivity values are21.24,30.39,and 33.99 ***-visible spectroscopy using Tauc theory reveals an increase in the optical band gap from 2.32 to 2.50 eV,indicating a tunable energy band structure by incorporating Pr3+-Dy3+*** dielectric constant increases,whereas AC conductivity decreases with increased Pr3+-Dy3+*** obtained results suggest the potential suitability of these materials for various technological applications.
