Hybrid Feature selection Method for Predicting Alzheimer’s Disease Using Gene Expression Data

Gene expression(GE)classification is a research trend as it has been used to diagnose and prognosis many *** machine learning(ML)in the prediction of many diseases based on GE data has been a flourishing research ***,some diseases,like Alzheimer’s disease(AD),have not received considerable attention,probably owing to data scarcity *** this work,we shed light on the prediction of AD from GE data accurately using *** approach consists of four phases:preprocessing,gene selection(Gs),classification,and performance *** the preprocessing phase,gene columns are preprocessed *** the Gs phase,a hybrid filtering method and embedded method are *** the classification phase,three ML models are implemented using the bare minimum of the chosen genes obtained from the previous *** final phase is to validate the performance of these classifiers using different *** crux of this article is to select the most informative genes from the hybrid method,and the best ML technique to predict AD using this minimal set of *** different datasets are used to achieve our *** predict AD with impressive values forMultiLayer Perceptron(MLP)classifier which has the best performance metrics in four datasets,and the support Vector Machine(sVM)achieves the highest performance values in only one *** assessed the classifiers using sevenmetrics;and received impressive results,allowing for a credible performance *** metrics values we obtain in our study lie in the range[.97,.99]for the accuracy(Acc),[.97,.99]for F1-score,[.94,.98]for kappa index,[.97,.99]for area under curve(AUC),[.95,1]for precision,[.98,.99]for sensitivity(recall),and[.98,1]for *** these results,the proposed approach outperforms recent interesting *** these results,the proposed approach outperforms recent interesting results.

Comparative study between three carbonaceous nanoblades and nanodarts for antimicrobial applications

The design of nanostructured materials occupies a privileged position in the development and management of affordable and effective technology in the antibacterial ***,we discuss the antimicrobial properties of three carbonaceous nanoblades and nanodarts materials of graphene oxide(GO),reduced graphene oxide(RGO),and single-wall carbon nanotubes(sWCNTs)that have a mechano-bactericidal effect,and the ability to piercing or slicing bacterial *** demonstrate the significance of size,morphology and composition on the antibacterial activity mechanism,the designed nanomaterials have been *** minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC),standard agar well diffusion,and transmission electron microscopy were utilized to evaluate the antibacterial activity of GO,RGO,and *** on the evidence obtained,the three carbonaceous materials exhibit activity against all microbial strains tested by completely encapsulating bacterial cells and causing morphological disruption by degrading the microbial cell membrane in the order of RGO>GO>*** of the external cell wall structure and outer membrane proteins,the synthesized carbonaceous nanomaterials exhibited higher antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacterial strains than Gram-negative and fungal *** had the lowest MIC values(0.062,0.125,and 0.25 mg/mL against ***,***,and ***,respectively),as well as minimum fungal concentrations(0.5 mg/mL for both *** and ***).At 12 hr,the cell viability values against tested microbial strains were completely *** lysis and death occurred as a result of severe membrane damage caused by microorganisms perched on RGO *** work gives an insight into the design of effective graphene-based antimicrobial materials for water treatment and remediation.

Variant Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network Applied on Low Dose CT Image Denoising

Computed Tomography(CT)images have been extensively employed in disease diagnosis and treatment,causing a huge concern over the dose of radiation to which patients are *** the radiation dose to get a better image may lead to the development of genetic disorders and cancer in the patients;on the other hand,decreasing it by using a Low-Dose CT(LDCT)image may cause more noise and increased artifacts,which can compromise the ***,image reconstruction from LDCT image data is necessary to improve radiologists’judgment and *** study proposed three novel models for denoising LDCT images based on Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network(WGAN).They were incorporated with different loss functions,including Visual Geometry Group(VGG),structural similarity Loss(ssIM),and structurally sensitive Loss(ssL),to reduce noise and preserve important information on LDCT images and investigate the effect of different types of loss ***,experiments have been conducted on the Graphical Processing Unit(GPU)and Central Processing Unit(CPU)to compare the performance of the proposed *** results demonstrated that images from the proposed WGAN-ssIM,WGAN-VGG-ssIM,and WGAN-VGG-ssL were denoised better than those from state-of-the-art models(WGAN,WGAN-VGG,and sMGAN)and converged to a stable equilibrium compared with WGAN and *** proposed models are effective in reducing noise,suppressing artifacts,and maintaining informative structure and texture details,especially WGAN-VGG-ssL which achieved a high peak-signalto-noise ratio(PNsR)on both GPU(26.1336)and CPU(25.8270).The average accuracy of WGAN-VGG-ssL outperformed that of the state-ofthe-art methods by 1 *** prove that theWGAN-VGG-ssL is more stable than the other models on both GPU and CPU.

An adaptive neuro-fuzzy sliding mode controller for MIMO systems with disturbance

This paper introduces the mathematical model of ammonia and urea reactors and suggested three methods for designing a special purpose controller. The first proposed method is Adaptive model predictive controller, the second is Adaptive Neural Network Model Predictive Control, and the third is Adaptive neuro-fuzzy sliding mode controller. These methods are applied to a multivariable nonlinear system as an ammonia–urea reactor system. The main target of these controllers is to achieve stabilization of the outlet concentration of ammonia and urea, a stable reaction rate, an increase in the conversion of carbon monoxide(CO) into carbon dioxide(CO_2) to reduce the pollution effect, and an increase in the ammonia and urea productions, keeping the NH_3/CO_2 ratio equal to 3 to reduce the unreacted CO_2 and NH_3, and the two reactors' temperature in the suitable operating ranges due to the change in reactor parameters or external disturbance. simulation results of the three controllers are compared. Comparative analysis proves the effectiveness of the suggested Adaptive neurofuzzy sliding mode controller than the two other controllers according to external disturbance and the change of parameters. Moreover, the suggested methods when compared with other controllers in the literature show great success in overcoming the external disturbance and the change of parameters.

Orchiopexy:one procedure,two diagnoses-different male infertility outcomes

Infertility,affecting one in six couples,is often related to the male partner’s congenital and/or environmental conditions or complications *** retrospective study examines the link between orchiopexy for undescended testicles(UDT)and testicular torsion(TT)in childhood and adult fertility as assessed through sperm *** study involved the analysis of semen samples from 7743 patients collected at soroka University Medical Center(Beer sheva,Israel)between January 2009 and December *** were classified into two groups based on sperm concentration:those with concentrations below 5×10^(6)sperm per ml(As group)and those above(MN group).Medical records and surgical histories were reviewed,categorizing orchiopexies by surgical *** 140 individuals who had undergone pediatric surgery,83(59.3%)were placed in the MN group and 57(40.7%)in the As group.A higher likelihood of being in the MN group was observed in Jewish compared to Arab patients(75.9%vs 24.1%,P=0.006).In cases of childhood UDT,45(78.9%)patients exhibited sperm concentrations below 5×10^(6)sperm per ml(Ps significantly associated with lower sperm concentration,total motility,and progressive motility than unilateral cases(P=0.014,P=0.001,and P=0.031,respectively).Multivariate analysis identified UDT as a weak risk factor for low sperm concentration(odds ratio[OR]:2.712,P=0.078),with bilateral UDT further increasing this risk(OR:6.314,P=0.012).Jewish ethnicity and TT diagnosis were associated with a reduced risk of sperm concentrations below 5×10^(6)sperm per *** findings indicate that initial diagnosis,surgical approach,and ethnicity markedly influence male fertility outcomes following pediatric orchiopexy.

Robust Neural Control of Discrete Time Uncertain Nonlinear systems Using sliding Mode Backpropagation Training Algorithm

This work deals with robust inverse neural control strategy for a class of single-input single-output(sIsO) discrete-time nonlinear system affected by parametric uncertainties. According to the control scheme, in the first step, a direct neural model(DNM)is used to learn the behavior of the system, then, an inverse neural model(INM) is synthesized using a specialized learning technique and cascaded to the uncertain system as a controller. In previous works, the neural models are trained classically by backpropagation(BP) algorithm. In this work, the sliding mode-backpropagation(sM-BP) algorithm, presenting some important properties such as robustness and speedy learning, is investigated. Moreover, four combinations using classical BP and sM-BP are tested to determine the best configuration for the robust control of uncertain nonlinear systems. Two simulation examples are treated to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
