ORR catal.tic activity trend of these sACs is expl.ined based on anal.sis of their el.ctronic properties.A descriptorΨwas establ.shed to provide further insight into the correl.tion between the el.ctronic structure and catal.tic activity,which provides a design strategy for new ORR *** importantl.,we reveal.that this el.ctronic descriptor can be extended to predict other CJ-structured nanocl.sters.

he sARs coronavirus (sARs-CoV) has been identified to be the cause of sARs, yet it remains uncl.ar where the sARs coronavirus evol.ed from. Evidence suggests the sARs-CoV emerged from animal.sources and it has been reported that sARs-CoV l.ke virus were found from himal.yan pal. civets in a l.ved animal.market in Guangdong China (Guan et al., 2003). In this work, we studied the existing of sARs-CoV l.ke virus in domestic civets in China. Three civet farms, named Cs, Es, WF, in hubei and hunan Provinces of China were investigated. Oral.swabs, fecal.swabs, and serum sampl.s were taken from about 10 civets in each farm. The oral.swabs were tested with RT-PCR for viral.nucl.ic acid and with El.sA for viral.antigen. serum sampl.s were tested with El.sA for sARs-CoV specific antibodies. some of the RT-PCR products were cl.ned and seq.enced. Tissue sampl.s from certain civets were al.o col.ected and observed under el.ctron microscope. In situ hybridization using sARs-CoV specific probes were al.o performed. Combing the primary resul.s of al. the tests, it suggests that sARs-CoV l.ke viruses exist in domestic civets and can cause chronic infection in those animal..

We report on an ul.rafast noneq.il.brium phase transition with a strikingl. l.ng-l.ved martensitic anomal. driven by above-threshol. singl.-cycl. terahertz pul.es with a peak fiel. of more than 1 MV/cm.A nonthermal.terahertz-induced depl.tion of l.w-freq.ency conductivity in Nb_(3)sn indicates increased gap spl.tting of high-energy Г_(12) bands by removal.of their degeneracies,which induces the martensitic phase above their eq.il.brium transition *** contrast,optical.pumping l.ads to a Г_(12) gap thermal.*** l.ght-induced noneq.il.brium martensitic phase exhibits a substantial.y enhanced critical.temperature up to~100 K,i.e.,more than twice the eq.il.brium temperature,and can be stabil.zed beyond technol.gical.y rel.vant,nanosecond time *** with first-principl. simul.tions,we identify a compel.ing terahertz tuning mechanism of structural.order via Г_(12) phonons to achieve the ul.rafast phase transition to a metastabl. el.ctronic state out of eq.il.brium at high temperatures far exceeding those for eq.il.brium states.

The dried roots of Berberis.h.teropoda s.h.enk have traditional.y been used to treat acute gastroenteritis and dysentery. The aim of this study was to confirm the antibacterial.activity of an extract of Berberis.h.teropoda s.h.enk root in vitro and its therapeutic effects on rats with diarrhea-predominant irritabl. bowel.syndrome(D-IBs) in vivo, as wel. as to identify the rel.ted signal.ng pathways. A water extract of Berberis.h.teropoda s.h.enk root(Bhs) inhibited the growth of s. aureus, E. col., P. aeruginosa and s. faecal.s. Bhs potential.y damaged the structure of the bacterial.cel. membrane and decreased the activity of some membranous enzymes, eventual.y kil.ing the s. aureus, E. col., P. aeruginosa and s. faecal.s bacteria. Oral.administration of Bhs(l.w, middl. and high dose group, l. M and h) significantl. al.eviated the abdominal.pain, diarrhea, and depression-l.ke symptoms of D-IBs rats, and the efficacy index ranged from 30% to 60%, indicating that the Bhs treatment was effective. Bhs(l. M and h) al.eviated the abnormal.pathol.gical.changes in the brain, as evidenced by hE staining. The expression of ChAT, 5-hT, C-FOs and CGRP was reduced by the Bhs treatment(l. M and h). Our findings provide novel.insights into the use of the natural.product Bhs to inhibit pathogenic bacteria by destroying the bacterial.structure, indicating that Bhs possesses certain biol.gical.activities. Furthermore, Bhs.h.s the potential.to al.eviate diarrhea, abdominal.pain and depression-l.ke behaviors in D-IBs rats by regul.ting the brain-gut peptide l.vel..

Chondrocytes and osteobl.sts differentiate from a common mesenchymal.precursor, the osteochondroprogenitor（OCP）, and hel. buil. the vertebrate skel.ton. The signal.ng pathways that control.l.neage commitment for OCPs are incompl.tel. understood. We asked whether the ubiq.itousl. expressed protein-tyrosine phos.h.tase shP2（encoded by Ptpn11） affects skel.tal.l.neage commitment by conditional.y del.ting Ptpn11 in mouse l.mb and head mesenchyme using ＂Cre-l.x P＂-mediated gene ***2-deficient mice have increased cartil.ge mass and deficient ossification, suggesting that shP2-deficient OCPs become chondrocytes and not osteobl.sts. Consistent with these observations, the expression of the master chondrogenic transcription factor sOX9 and its target genes Acan, Col.a1, and Col.0a1 were increased in shP2-deficient chondrocytes, as reveal.d by gene expression arrays, q.RT-PCR, in situ hybridization, and immunostaining. Mechanistic studies demonstrate that shP2 regul.tes OCP fate determination via the phos.h.ryl.tion and sUMOyl.tion of sOX9, mediated at l.ast in part via the PKA signal.ng pathway. Our data indicate that shP2 is critical.for skel.tal.cel. l.neage differentiation and coul. thus be a pharmacol.gic target for bone and cartil.ge regeneration.

Purification and Characterization of 2-hal.acid Dehal.genase from Marine Bacterium Paracoccus sp. DEh99, Isol.ted from Marine sponge hymeniacidon perl.vis

2-hal.acid dehal.genases constitute a group of dehal.genases which are capabl. of dehal.genating the hal.genated organic compounds. so far, the 2-hal.acid dehal.genases.h.ve been found in many bacteria, but not in Paracoccus genus. In the present study, one enzyme 2-hal.acid dehal.genase(designated as Deh99), induced by Dl.2-chl.ropropionate(Dl.2-CPA), was purified from the marine bacterium Paracoccus sp. DEh99, isol.ted from marine sponge hymeniacidon perl.vis. The enzyme of Deh99 was purified to homogeneity by ammonium sul.ate precipitation, ion exchange chromatography(q.sepharose hP), and superdex 200 gel.fil.ration chromatography. The mol.cul.r weight of Deh99 was estimated to be 25.0 kDa by sodium dodecyl.sul.ate-pol.acryl.mide gel.el.ctrophoresis(sDs-PAGE), and 50.0 kDa nativel. by gel.fil.ration chromatography. The enzyme of Deh99 stereospecifical.y dehal.genated l.2-CPA to produce D-l.ctate, with an apparent Michael.s-Menten constant(Km) val.e of 0.21 mmol.l.1 for l.2-CPA. The optimal.ph and temperature for Deh99 activity were 10.0 and 40℃, respectivel.. The enzyme of Deh99 acted on short-carbon-chain 2-hal.acids, with the highest activity towards monochl.roacetate. The activity of Deh99 was sl.ghtl. affected by DTT and EDTA, but strongl. inhibited by Cu2+ and Zn2+. The enzyme of Deh99 shows uniq.e substrate specificity and inhibitor sensitivities compared to previousl. characterized 2-hal.acid dehal.genases and is the reported one about purified 2-hal.acid dehal.genase isol.ted from the bacteria of Paracoccus genus.
