since the introduction of the first anti-tumor necrosis factor antibodies in the late 1990s,biologic therapy has revolutionized the medical treatment of patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Nevertheless,surgery continues to play a significant role in treating IBD *** of intestinal resection in patients with Crohn’s disease or colectomy in ulcerative colitis are reducing but not substantially over the long *** increasing variety of biologic medications are now available to treat IBD patients in various clinical ***,a number of questions persist about how biologic medications affect the need for surgery and overall course in IBD *** the trend for earlier and more frequent use of biologic medications in IBD patients,a working knowledge of the effects of these medications on surgical decision-making and outcomes is essential for the practicing colorectal surgeon and *** review seeks to summarize the relevant literature surrounding biologic use and IBD surgery with a focus on the effect of biologics on the frequency,type and complications of surgery in this‘age of biologics’.

The blood-brain barrier （BBB） is a tight boundary formed between endothelial cells and astrocytes, which separates and protects brain from most pathogens as well as neural toxins in circulation. However, detailed molecular players involved in formation of BBB are not completely known. Dentin matrix protein I （DmP1）-proteoglycan （PG）, which is known to be involved in mineralization of bones and dentin, is also expressed in soft tissues including brain with unknown functions. In the present study, we reported that DmPI-PG was expressed in brain astrocytes and enriched in BBB units. The only glycosylation site of DmP1 is serine89 （s89） in the N-terminal domain of the protein in mouse. mutant mice with DmP1 point mutations changing s89 to glycine （s89G）, which completely eradicated glycosylation of the protein, demonstrated severe BBB disruption. Another breed of DmP1 mutant mice, which lacked the C-terminal domain of DmP1, manifested normal BBB function. The polarity of s89G-DmP1 astrocytes was disrupted and cell-cell adhesion was loosened. Through a battery of analyses, we found that DmP1 glycosylation was critically required for astrocyte maturation both in vitro and in vivo. s89G-DmP1 mutant astrocytes failed to express aquaporin 4 and had reduced laminin and ZO1 expression, which resulted in disruption of BBB. Interestingly, overexpression of wild-type DmP1-PG in mouse brain driven by the nestin promoter elevated laminin and ZO1 expression beyond wild type levels and could effectively resisted intravenous mannitol-induced BBB reversible opening. Taken together, our study not only revealed a novel element, i.e., DmP1-PG, that reg- ulated BBB formation, but also assigned a new function to DmP1-PG.

AIm: To evaluate quantitatively and qualitatively the different CD34+cell subsets after priming by chemotherapy granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(± G-CsF)in patients with acute myeloid ***: Peripheral blood and bone marrow sampleswere harvested in 8 acute myeloid leukemia patients during and after induction chemotherapy. The CD34/CD38 cell profile was analyzed by multi-parameter flow cytometry. Adhesion profile was made using CXC chemokine receptor 4(CXCR4)(CD184), VLA-4(CD49d/CD29) and ***: Chemotherapy ± G-CsF mobilized immature cells(CD34+CD38 population), while the more mature cells(CD34+CD38lowand CD34+CD38+populations) decreased progressively after treatment. Circulating CD34+cells tended to be more sensitive to chemotherapy after priming with G-CsF. CD34+cell mobilization was correlated with a gradual increase in CXCR4 and CD47expression, suggesting a role in cell protection and the capacity of homing back to the ***: Chemotherapy ± G-CsF mobilizes into the circulation CD34+bone marrow cells, of which, the immature CD34+CD38-cell population. Further manipulations of these interactions may be a means with which to control the trafficking of leukemia stem cells to improve patients' outcomes.

The primary objective of this study is to investigate the porosity-depth trends of shales and sands and how they affect lithologies. Compaction curves from well logs of five wells were determined using interval transit time from sonic logs. The depth of investigation lies between 1087 m and 2500 m. Based on the shale and sand trend modeling, the study intends to determine the model to be used for lithology prediction at various depths given the interplay between shale and sand compaction. The improved understanding of the physical properties of shales and sands as a function of burial depth was demonstrated, in conjunction with a good understanding of how compaction affects lithology. The compaction curve for shale and sand lithologies varies with shale being parabolic in form, and sands with linear and exponential in nature. Plots of sonic porosity against depth show great dispersion in porosity values while plotting porosity values against depth for different lithologies produced well-defined porosity trends. This shows decrease in porosity with depth. The negative porosity trend is less marked in sandstones, and faster in shale which suggests that it is possible to make accurate porosity predictions using compaction trend. The porosity trend showed exponential relationship at small depth less than 2500m. The linear and exponential models are not dependable at large depth. The result shows that the compaction models applicable for sandstones do not necessary apply for shales.

We propose a multiparty quantum cryptographic protocol. Unitary operators applied by Bob and Charlie, on their respective qubits of a tripartite entangled state encoding a classical symbol that can be decoded at Alice＇s end with the help of a decoding matrix. eve＇s presence can be detected by the disturbance of the decoding matrix. Our protocol is secure against intercept resend attacks. Furthermore, it is eifficient and deterministic in the sense that two classical bits can be transferred per entangled pair of qubits. It is worth mentioning that in this protocol, the same symbol can be used for key distribution and eve＇s detection that enhances the etfficiency of the protocol.

Animals are increasingly faced with human?induced stressors that vary in space and time, thus we can expect populati on-level diverge nee in behaviors that help animals to cope with en vironme ntal change. However, empirical evidenee of behavioral trait divergence across environmental extremes is lacking. We tested for variation in behavioral traits among 2 populations of an African cichlid fish (Pseudocrenilabrus multicolor victoriae seegers, 1990) that experience extremes of dissolved oxygen (DO) and turbidity and are known to vary in a number of physiological and life history traits associated with these stressors. Using a comm on garden reari ng experime nt, F1 progeny from wild-caught parents originating from a swamp (low DO, clear) and a river (high DO, turbid) were reared in high DO, clear water. Predator simulation assays were conducted to test for (1) variation in boldness, general activity, and foraging activity between populations,(2) differences in correlations betwee n behaviors with in and across populati ons, and (3) repeatability of behaviors. There was strong evide nee for diverge nee betwee n populati ons, with swamp fish being more bold (i.e.z leaving refuge sooner after a simulated predator attack) and active (i.e., spent more time out of refuge) than river fish. Across populations there were positive correlations between foraging activity and both boldness and general activity;however, within populations, there was only a strong positive relationship between foraging activity and boldness in the river population. Here, we have demonstrated that populations that originate from drastically different environments can produce proge ny that exhibit measurable differences in behaviors and their correlated relati on ships.eve n whe n reared un der comm on conditions.

A modified Kadomtsev-Petviashvili （mKP） equation in （3＋1） dimensions is presented. We reveal multiple front-waves solutions for this higher-dimensional developed equation, and multiple singular front-wave solutions as well. The constraints on the coefficients of the spatial variables, that assure the existence of these multiple front-wave solutions are investigated. We also show that this equation falls the Painleve test, and we conclude that it is not integrable in the sense of possessing the Painleve property, although it gives multiple front-wave solutions.
