Fourty-three species of microfungi from bamboo are treated,including one new family,Occultibambusaceae,three new genera,Neoanthostomella,Occultibambusa and seriascoma,27 new species,one renamed species and 15 redescribed or re-illustrated species,and four designated reference specimens are treated in this paper,the majority of which are saprobic on dead *** determine species identification,separate phylogenetical analyses for each group are carried out,based on molecular data from this study and sequences downloaded from *** similar species and phylogenetically close taxa are compared and *** addition a list of bambusicolous fungi published since Hyde and colleagues in 2002 is provided.

Metastatic spinal Cord Compression (MsCC) —The Evolving story from Kashmir

Aim: To know the demographics of the patients most commonly involved by metastatic cord compression in Kashmir and to find the commonest primary organ to metastasize to spine causing cord compression. Methods: A hospital-based 10-year retro-prospective study was carried out in the Department of Neurosurgery of sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical sciences, soura from July 2002 to June 2012, which is the premier tertiary care institute of the Kashmir valley. Patients were evaluated for metastatic spinal cord compression based on a standard proforma and specialized investigations were carried out and were deemed necessary by the concerned neurosurgical unit. Results: The commonest primary malignancy to metastasize to the spinal column in our study was Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, followed in turn by metastatic squamous cell carcinoma lung, metastatic intraductal carcinoma breast and metastatic adenocarcinoma prostate. Predominantly dorsal spine was the commonest region of spine involved by MsCC. Conclusion: Metastatic spinal cord compression is coming up in a big way. As the long-term cancer survivors increase due to multi-modality treatment protocols aimed at treating cancers and prolonging survival, there will be a proportionate increase in the number of patients who will potentially land up in metastatic spinal cord compression.

Coelomycete is a general term used for asexual fungi which produce conidia in fruiting bodies:pycnidial,acervular,cupulate,pycnothyria or stromatic *** group contains numerous plant pathogenic,saprobic and endophytic species associated with a wide range of ***,morphological characters and host associations have been used as criteria to identify and classify coelomycetes,and this has resulted in a poor understanding of their generic and species *** based taxonomic studies have provided a better outlook of the phylogenetic and evolutionary trends in ***,the present outcomes represent only a preliminary step towards the understanding of *** genera have not been revisited since they were first *** present study revises the classification of the hyaline-spored coelomycetes and provides a modern taxonomic framework based on both morphology and *** total,248 genera were investigated,of which less than 100 are known to have sequence ***-locus sequence data analyses of 28s nrDNA,18s nrDNA,ITs,RNA polymerase II second largest subunit(rpb2),and part of the translation elongation factor 1-alpha gene(tef1)andβ-tubulin(tub2)gene regions were *** a result,three new genera and 23 new species are *** addition,three new links between sexual and asexual genera are *** are 138 genera that lack sequence data,and these are treated as Ascomycota,genera incertae *** drawings and descriptions are provided based on the examination of types and fresh collections and on the literature.

Therapeutic Approach for Hair Growth and Regeneration Using Bioactive Formulation Containing Mesenchymal stromal Cell-Derived Conditioned Medium

Background and Aims: Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a common form of hair loss in both men and women. Despite its high prevalence and associated patient morbidity, the approved therapeutic options are limited to finasteride and minoxidil. The present study is aimed at assessing the efficacy of hair serum formulation, Trichoserasup>®sup>containing Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells conditioned media as an active ingredient, for hair fall control and hair regrowth in healthy Indian human volunteers. Methods: The product was made using a 20% concentration of 10X Conditioned Media along with excipients. The final product was tested for physicochemical parameters, biomarkers, total protein content and microbial limits as per our in-house specifications. Results: The primary irritation patch test showed that the product is non-irritant and dermatologically safe. A clinical study on 40 subjects was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the bioactive formulation in hair fall control and hair regrowth in healthy volunteers. Phototrichogram measurement showed hair density and hair growth rate increased significantly by 11.54% and 18.66% at week 24. Hair tensile strength also increased significantly by 41.10% at 12 weeks follow-up. Hair pull test, to see a reduction in pulled hair and comb’s test to show a decrease in hair fall significantly improved from week 4 onwards. There were no significant adverse events in response to the product application. Conclusion: It is concluded that the hair serum product is completely safe on direct application to the scalp and showed significant improvement in the hair growth rate, hair density, scalp condition and reduction in hair fall. .

Leptosphaeriaceae is a family in the order Pleosporales comprising economically important plant *** may also be endophytes or saprobes on various host *** recent classifications Alternariaster,Leptosphaeria,Neophaeosphaeria,Paraleptosphaeria,Heterospora,subplenodomus and Plenodomus were included in the *** taxonomy of genera and species in Leptosphaeriaceae has been problematic due to the lack of understanding of the importance of morphological characters used to distinguish taxa,as well as the lack of reference *** order to establish evolutionary relationships and to provide a backbone tree for Leptosphaeria and allied genera,we sequenced the 18s nrDNA,28s nrDNA,ITs,RPB2,TEF and ACT gene regions of Leptosphaeriaceae species and analysed this ***-locus phylogenies together with morphology robustly support the monophyletic nature of Leptosphaeriaceae among the other families in Pleosporales,and the inclusion of the genera Alternariaster,Heterospora,Leptosphaeria,Paraleptosphaeria,sphaerellopsis,subplenodomus,Plenodomus and three novel genera Alloleptosphaeria,Neoleptosphaeria and *** new species,Alternariaster centaureae-diffusae,Leptosphaeria cichorium,Paraleptosphaeria rubi,Plenodomus guttulatus and *** are *** account of sexual morph of Alternariaster centaureae-diffusae is provided,and the sexual morph of Leptosphaeria doliolum is re-described and illustrated using modern concepts from fresh collections.A novel family Neophaeosphaeriaceae is established to accommodate the genus Neophaeosphaeria and its species.
