Utilizing a metal-forging inspired chain combing strategy to enhance properties and expand applications of Nylon 66 plastic via heat inducing

The mechanical properties of engineering plastics can be enhanced through effective surface mechanical treatment(sMT),which can be applied to various types of engineering plastics,eliminating the limitations of conventional polymer processing and could potentially extend their applications and improve their performance and reliability as structural-functional *** by metal forging,this work proposes a simple and effective sMT strategy to enhance the mechanical properties of polyamide 66(PA66).Tensile tests have shown that sMTed PA66 samples exhibit significant improvements in both Young’s modulus and ultimate tensile strength(UTs),with a 2104 MPa Young’s modulus,almost double that of the pristine samples,and a 35.56%increase in UTs,reaching 183 ***,the modulus within the localized sMTed surface layer could reach up to 14 GPa,which is approximately 14 times higher than that of the pristine *** Vickers hardness within the localized sMTed surface layer can be doubled,reaching 10.72 Hv,and the crystallinity can increase by approximately 20%compared to the untreated ***,force field molecular dynamics(FFMD)simulations were conducted to investigate the ternary relationship between the sMT method,PA66’s molecular structure,and its *** combination of MD simulations and versatile structural characterizations provides evidence that the sMT method’s mechanism,under heat induction,results in a chain-combing procedure that changes the polymer’s molecular morphology microscopically and enhances its mechanical properties macroscopically.

Analysis of floc morphology in a continuous-flow flocculation and sedimentation reactor

The floc morphology was investigated in a continuous-flow reactor, in order to understand the evolution of flocs in practical flocculation and sedimentation processes in water utilities. Kaolin-humic acid suspension was used as the test water, and polyaluminum chloride was chosen as the coagulant. An in-situ recognition system was applied to analyze the floc size, boundary fractal dimension, and eccentricity ratios. Particle numbers and turbidity were also determined in the sedimentation stage. At a coagulant dose of 1 mg/L as Al, the average floc size increased from 62 to 78 μm and the boundary fractal dimension was around 1.14, suggesting that flocs were compact and continuously grew during the entire flocculation process. However, with the dose increased to 5 mg/L, the average floc size decreased and stabilized at around 65 μm, with the fractal dimension of 1.20. It can be concluded that the excess coagulant doses resulted in the formation of chain-shaped, lower density, and more branched structure flocs, thereby restricting flocs’ further growth in the subsequent flocculation. Floc morphology analysis suggested that charge neutralization dominated in the initial flocculation stage, then the bridge and sweep mechanisms were dominant in the subsequent flocculation. In addition, compared with the traditional inclined plate settler, a novel V-shaped plate settler introduced in this study had an advantage in small size floc（less than 5 μm） removal. The V-shaped region could promote aggregate restructuring and re-flocculation; therefore, the V-shaped plate settler provides an alternative method for sedimentation.

Dimensional synthesis of a 3-DOF Parallel Manipulator with Full Circle Rotation

Parallel robots are widely used in the academic and industrial fields. In spite of the numerous achievements in the design and dimensional synthesis of the low-mobility parallel robots, few research efforts are directed towards the asymmetric 3-DOF parallel robots whose end-effector can realize 2 translational and 1 rotational（2T1R） motion. In order to develop a manipulator with the capability of full circle rotation to enlarge the workspace, a new 2T1 R parallel mechanism is proposed. The modeling approach and kinematic analysis of this proposed mechanism are investigated. Using the method of vector analysis, the inverse kinematic equations are established. This is followed by a vigorous proof that this mechanism attains an annular workspace through its circular rotation and 2 dimensional translations. Taking the first order perturbation of the kinematic equations, the error Jacobian matrix which represents the mapping relationship between the error sources of geometric parameters and the end-effector position errors is derived. With consideration of the constraint conditions of pressure angles and feasible workspace, the dimensional synthesis is conducted with a goal to minimize the global comprehensive performance index. The dimension parameters making the mechanism to have optimal error mapping and kinematic performance are obtained through the optimization algorithm. All these research achievements lay the foundation for the prototype building of such kind of parallel robots.

Catalyst–support interaction plays a crucial role in improving the catalytic activity of oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Here we modulate the catalyst–support interaction in polyaniline-supported Ni_(3)Fe oxide(Ni_(3)Fe oxide/PANI)with a robust hetero-interface,which significantly improves oxygen evolution activities with an overpotential of 270 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2)and specific activity of 2.08 mA cm_(ECsA)^(-2)at overpotential of 300 mV,3.84-fold that of Ni_(3)Fe *** is revealed that the catalyst–support interaction between Ni_(3)Fe oxide and PANI support enhances the Ni–O covalency via the interfacial Ni–N bond,thus promoting the charge and mass transfer on Ni_(3)Fe *** the excellent activity and stability,rechargeable Zn-air batteries with optimum Ni_(3)Fe oxide/PANI are assembled,delivering a low charge voltage of 1.95 V to cycle for 400 h at 10 mA cm^(-2).The regulation of the effect of catalyst–support interaction on catalytic activity provides new possibilities for the future design of highly efficient OER catalysts.

Photosynthesis with the chloroplast works efficiently because of the envelope structure that serves to carry enzymes and to simultaneously maintain the spatial separation of photosynthesis and cellular *** by the spatially separated architecture,a chloroplast-like structured photocatalyst(Pds@Cds@Mos_(2)),in which the Pds and Mos_(2) function as enzymes in the chloroplast and Cds shell functions as the chloroplast envelope,was developed to improve the photocatalytic H_(2) *** this unique nanoscale bionic structure,the poriferous Cds shell enhances light absorption,generates photoinduced carriers,and separates oxidation and reduction ***,Pds and Mos_(2) dual cocatalysts enhance the charge separation efficiency through forming a built-in electric field with *** demonstrate that the separation efficiency of carriers,carrier lifetime,and the yield of H_(2) are both higher than that of Cds nanoparticles,evidencing the feasibility of the chloroplast-like structure in enhancing the photocatalyst *** work emphasizes the synergism of the three key processes of the photocatalytic reaction by simulating the chloroplast structure and provides a general synthesis strategy,the synthesis of novel structured for photocatalysts for diverse applications in the energy field.

Responses of potential ammonia oxidation and ammonia oxidizers community to arsenic stress in seven types of soil

seismic data reconstruction based on low dimensional manifold model

seismic data reconstruction is an essential and yet fundamental step in seismic data processing workflow,which is of profound significance to improve migration imaging quality,multiple suppression effect,and seismic inversion *** methods play a central role in solving the underdetermined inverse problem of seismic data *** this paper,a novel regularization approach is proposed,the low dimensional manifold model(LDMM),for reconstructing the missing seismic *** work relies on the fact that seismic patches always occupy a low dimensional ***,we exploit the dimension of the seismic patches manifold as a regularization term in the reconstruction problem,and reconstruct the missing seismic data by enforcing low dimensionality on this *** crucial procedure of the proposed method is to solve the dimension of the patches *** this,we adopt an efficient dimensionality calculation method based on low-rank approximation,which provides a reliable safeguard to enforce the constraints in the reconstruction *** experiments performed on synthetic and field seismic data demonstrate that,compared with the curvelet-based sparsity-promoting L1-norm minimization method and the multichannel singular spectrum analysis method,the proposed method obtains state-of-the-art reconstruction results.

The solventnatures are crucial to deeply reveal solution behavior of macromolecular chains,physical essence of condensed state structures formation of the film as well as the photoelectronic devices *** on the second virial coefficient(A2),effect of the synergistic action of solvents and external electric field on both solution behavior and the film’s condensed state structure for the semi-rigid conjugated polymer,poly[2-methoxy-5-(2’-ethylhexoxy)-1,4-phenylvinylene](MEH-PPV)was investigated by dynamic/static light scattering,photoluminescence spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy,*** was found that although the MEH-PPV solutions with different solvents(toluene,chlorobenzene,chloroform and tetrahydrofuran)all could generate a response to the external electric field,the degree of response varied significantly with the change of solvent ***,ordered degree of the film from the solutions was also obviously *** essential reason for this responsive difference was firstly revealed in the research,which actually depended on the degree of interaction between the solute and solvent,and this degree of interaction could be quantitatively described by the second virial coefficient(A2).The bigger the A2,the stronger the interaction between solvent and solute in the solution,and the stronger the response to the external electric ***,under the induction of external electric field,chains aggregations with different sizes were formed accompanied by large-scale chains ordered structure in the *** ordered structure not only can effectively transfer to film prepared by the precursor solution but also is beneficial to enhance the carrier mobility and device efficiency of the photoelectronic film.
