Nonplanar shock structures in a Relativistic Degenerate Multi-species Plasma

A nonlinear propagation of cylindrical and spherical modified ion-acoustic(m IA) waves in an unmagnetized,collisionless, relativistic, degenerate multi-species plasma has been investigated theoretically. This plasma system is assumed to contain non-relativistic degenerate light ions, both non-relativistic and ultra-relativistic degenerate electron and positron fluids, and arbitrarily charged static heavy ions. The restoring force is provided by the degenerate pressures of the electrons and positrons, whereas the inertia is provided by the mass of ions. The arbitrarily charged static heavy ions participate only in maintaining the quasi-neutrality condition at equilibrium. The modified Burgers(m B) equation is derived by using reductive perturbation technique and numerically analyzed to identify the basic features of m IA shock structures. The basic characteristics of m IA shock waves are found to be significantly modified by the effects of degenerate pressures of electron, positron, and ion fluids, their number densities, and various charge state of heavy ions. The implications of our results to dense plasmas in astrophysical compact objects(e.g., non-rotating white dwarfs,neutron stars, etc.) are briefly discussed.

Many fruit recognition works have applied statistical approaches to make an exact correlation between low-level visual feature information and high-level semantic concepts givenby predefined text caption or keywords. Two common fruit recognition models include bagof-features (BoF) and convolutional neural network (ConvNet), which achieve highperformance results. In most cases, the overfitting problem is unavoidable. This problemmakes it difficult to generalize new instances with only a slightly different appearance,although belonging to the same category. This article proposes a new fruit recognitionmodel by associating an object’s low-level features in an image with a high-level *** define a perceptual color for each fruit species to construct a relationship between fruitcolor and semantic color name. Furthermore, we develop our model by integrating the perceptual color and semantic template concept to solve the overfitting problem. The semantic template concept as a mapping between the high-level concept and the low-level visualfeature is adopted in this model. The experiment was conducted on three different fruitimage datasets, with one dataset as train data and the two others as test data. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model, called perceptual color on semantictemplate (PCosT), is significantly better than the BoF and ConvNet models in reducing theoverfitting problem.

Lymphoid-biased hematopoietic stem cells and myeloid-biased hematopoietic progenitor cells have radioprotection activity

Radioprotection was previously considered as a function of hematopoietic stem cells(HsCs).However,recent studies have reported its activity in hematopoietic progenitor cells(HPCs).To address this issue,we compared the radioprotection activity in 2 subsets of HsCs(nHsC1 and 2 populations)and 4 subsets of HPCs(nHPC1–4 populations)of the mouse bone marrow,in relation to their in vitro and in vivo colony-forming *** radioprotection activity was detected in the nHsC2 population enriched in lymphoid-biased *** radioprotection activity was detected in nHPC1 and 2 populations enriched in myeloid-biased *** radioprotection activity was detected in the nHsC1 enriched in myeloid-biased *** radioprotection activity was detected in the nHPC3 and 4 populations that included MPP4(LMPP).single-cell colony assay combined with flow cytometry analysis showed that the nHsC1,nHsC2,nHPC1,and nHPC2 populations had the neutrophils/macrophages/erythroblasts/megakaryocytes(nmEMk)differentiation potential whereas the nHPC3 and 4 populations had only the nm differentiation *** day 12 spleen colony-forming units(day 12 CFU-s)were detected in the nHsC1,nHsC2,and nHPC1–3 populations,but very few in the nHPC4 *** data suggested that nmEMk differentiation potential and day 12 CFU-s activity are partially associated with radioprotection *** analysis showed that sufficient myeloid reconstitution around 12 to 14 days after transplantation was critical for *** study implied that radioprotection is specific to neither HsC nor HPC populations,and that lymphoid-biased HsCs and myeloid-biased HPCs as populations play a major role in radioprotection.

The prevalence of pediatric obesity continues to increase worldwide,bringing with it various metabolic,functional,social,and psychological complications.1 Both the prevention and treatment of childhood obesity must be based on multidisciplinary approaches combining nutrition,physical activity(PA),and psychological support.2 As an essential element of these multicomponent strategies,regular physical activity has been acknowledged as having beneficial effects on children's and adolescents,body composition,physical fitness,and metabolic profile,as well as on their health-related quality of life,social and psychological health,and academic achievement.3,4 Given that only a relatively small proportion of children and adolescents meet the public health recommendations for PA,5 and given that weight loss exercise-based interventions suffer from a high attrition rate,there is a clear need for appropriate PAs.
