PGE mineralization and melt composition of chromitites in Proterozoic ophiolite complexes of Eastern sayan,southern siberia

The ospino-Kitoi and Kharanur ultrabasic massifs represent the northern and southern ophiolite branches respectively of the Upper onot ophiolitic nappe and they are located in the southeastern part of the Eastern sayan（sEPEs ophiolites）.Podiform chromitites with PGE mineralization occur as lensoid pods within dunites and rarely in harzburgites or serpentinized *** chromitites are classified into type I and type Ⅱ based on their Cr~#.Type I（Cr~# = 59-85） occurs in both northern and southern branches,whereas type Ⅱ（Cr~# = 76-90） occurs only in the northern *** contents range from ∑PGE 88-1189 ppb,Pt/Ir0.04-0.42 to ∑PGE 250-1700 ppb,Pt/Ir 0.03-0.25 for type I chromitites of the northern and southern branches *** type Ⅱ chromitites of the northern branch have ∑PGE contents higher than that of type Ⅰ（468-8617 ppb,Pt/Ir 0.1-0.33）.Parental melt compositions,in equilibrium with podiform chromitites,are in the range of boninitic melts and vary in Al_2o_3,Tio_2 and Feo/Mgo contents from those of type I and type Ⅱ *** melt compositions for type Ⅰ chromitites are（Al_2o_3）_（melt） = 10.6—13.5 wt.%,（Tio_2）_（melt） = 0.01-0.44 wt.%,（Fe/Mg）_（melt） = 0.42-1.81;those for type Ⅱ chromitites are：（Al_2o_3）_（melt） = 7.8-10.5 wt.%,（Tio_2）_（melt） = 0.01-0.25 wt.%,（Fe/Mg）_（melt） = *** are further divided into os-Ir-Ru（Ⅰ） and Pt-Pd（Ⅱ） based on their PGE *** type Ⅰ chromitites show only the os-Ir-Ru pattern whereas type Ⅱ shows both os-Ir-Ru and Pt-Pd *** mineralization in type Ⅰ chromitites is represented by the os-Ir-Ru system,whereas in type Ⅱ it is represented by the os-Ir-Ru-Rh-Pt *** results indicate that chromitites and PGE mineralization in the northern branch formed in a suprasubduction setting from a fluid-rich boninitic melt during active ***,the chromitites and PGE mineralization of the southern branch could have formed in a spreading zone *** peridotites have

Predictors of new-onset atrial fibrillation in elderly patients with coronary artery disease after coronary artery bypass graft

objective To identify the factors associated with the development of postoperative atrial fibrillation （PoAF） after coronary artery bypass graft （CABG） in elderly patients with coronary artery disease （CAD）. Methods A total of 81 patients with CAD who underwent CABG were enrolled in the study. Patients were divided into two groups： Group 1, without postoperative atrial fibrillation （59 patients, 74.6% men, mean age 65.8 ~ 4.0 years）; Group 2, with early new-onset atrial fibrillation after CABG （22 patients, 90.9% men, mean age 67.7 ＋ 5.4 years）. Interleukin （IL）-6, IL-8, IL-10, C-reactive protein （CRP）, fibrinogen, superoxide dismutase （soD）, N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide （NT-proBNP）, and troponin I were studied. Results During the observation period, atrial fibrillation occurred in 27.2% cases, an average of 4.9 ±3.8 days after surgery. In group 2, the left atrium （LA） dimension was larger than in group 1 （43.9 ± 3.4 mm vs. 37.6 ±3.9 rnm, P 〈 0.001）. Patients with PoAF had significantly higher IL-6 （72.7 ±60.8 pg/mL vs. 38.0 ± 34.6 pg/mL, P = 0.04）, IL-8 （11.9 ± 6.0 pg/mL vs. 7.7± 5.4 pg/mL, P = 0.01） and soD （2462.0 ± 2029.3 units/g vs. 1515.0 ± 1292.9 units/g, P = 0.04） compared with group without PoAF. The multivariate analysis showed that the odds ratio （oR） for PoAF development in patients with left atrium more than 39 mm was 2.1 [95% confidence interval （CI）： 1.2-3.8, P = 0.0004], IL-6 levels more than 65.18 pg/mL-1.4 （95% Ch 1.1-2.7, P = 0.009）, IL-8 levels more than 9.67 pg/mL-1.2 （95% CI： 1.1-3.7, P ： 0.009）, soD more than 2948 units/g-1.1 （95% Ch 1.01-2.9, P = 0.04）. Conclusions In our study, the independent predictors of postoperative atrial fibrillation after CABG in elderly patients were left atrium dimension and the increased postoperative concentration of IL-6, IL-8 and superoxide dismutase.

Cretaceous volcanic-intrusive magmatism in western Guangdong and its geological significance

systematic zircon LA-ICPMs U-Pb dating reveals that Cretaceous volcanic-intrusive activities developed in western Guangdong. Representative volcanic rocks, i.e. Maanshan and Zhougongding rhyodacites, have zircon U-Pb isotopic ages of 100±1 Ma, and the intrusive ones in-cluding the Deqing monzonitic granite body and the Xinghua granodiorite body in the shidong com-plex, as well as the Tiaocun granodiorite body in the Guangping complex yield ages of 99±2 Ma, ca. 100 Ma, and 104±3 Ma respectively. The biotite-granites of the shidong complex main body (461±35 Ma) and that of the Guangping complex (444±6 Ma) are Caledonian. In spite of the big time interval between Cretaceous volcanic-intrusive magmatisms and Caledonian intrusive ones, both of them are characterized by enrichment in Rb, Th, Ce, Zr, Hf, sm, depletion in Ba, Nb, Ta, P, Ti, Eu, and weakly REE tetrad effect. Eu negative anomalies are: Cretaceous volcanic rocks (Eu/Eu*=0.74), Cretaceous intrusive rocks (Eu/Eu*=0.35―0.58), Caledonian biotite granites (Eu/Eu*=0.31―0.34). studies of sr-Nd isotope data show that all these igneous rocks have high initial 87sr/86sr ratios (0.7105―0.7518), and low εNd(t) values (?7.23―?11.39) with their Nd two-stage model ages ranging from 1.6―2.0 Ga, which suggest that they all derived from the Proterozoic crustal basement of southeast China. The occurrence of Cretaceous volcanic-intrusive magmatisms in western Guangdong is related with the important lithospheric extension event in southeast China (including Nanling region) at ca. 100 Ma. The “volcanic line” defined by the large scale Mesozoic intermediate-acidic volcanic magmatisms in southeast China may further extend to the southwest margin of Nanling region.

The treatment of pathologies in the thoracic spine is a challenge. The periodic failure of pedicle screw insertion and anatomical variations make the search for an alternative to pedicle screws in thoracic spine surgery necessary. The interlaminar crossed screws is a well-known and secure method for fusion in cervical spine, and in thoracic spine there used to be insufficient clinical data to support this technique, until now. We demonstrate in an initial series of 10 cases treated with interlaminar fusion in association of other fusion techniques in the thoracic spine with good results. objective: Intralaminar screws have been shown to be a biomechanical salvage technique in the thoracic spine, especially in long cervicothoracic, thoracic and thoracolumbar fixation. The goals of this article are to demonstrate our initial experience and the range of indications for thoracic crossed intralaminar screws. Methods: In this article we describe our initial series performed at são Teotónio Hospital in Viseu, Portugal, and our results, and also provide a comprehensive review of the recent literature in the use of intralaminar crossed fixation.

Forensic semiotics: A Note on Applying semiotics to the study of Crime

The scientific study of crime comes under the general categories of forensic science and criminology, which include a large set of related branches, from forensic psychology to computer forensics. The emergence of forensic semiotics as part of this interdisciplinary amalgam is relatively unknown among both criminologists and semioticians. This paper provides an overview of the main objectives of forensic semiotics and its importance to the study of crime. one of the premises of forensic semiotics is that there is a thematic and interpretive continuity between actual crimes and their fictional representations. Actually, contemporary semiotics itself can be seen to start with Peirce's interest in detective fiction, from which he developed several of his key ideas, including the theory of abduction. This paper also discusses some case studies that have been carried out under the rubric of forensic semiotics, which indicate the relevance of semiotic analysis to the study of crime.

Effect of reverse flotation on magnetic separation concentrates

Reverse flotation studies on magnetite samples have revealed that the use of starch as a depressant of Fe-oxides has a hydrophilic effect on the surface of Fe-bearing silicates and significantly decreases Fe in the silica-rich stream when used in combination with an amine （Lilaflot D817M）. In this study, the effect of reverse flotation on the optimization of products obtained fi＇om magnetic separation was inves- tigated. Two different magnetic samples, zones 1 and 2, were milled to 〈75 btm and then subjected to low intensity magnetic separation （LIMs）. The LIMs test conducted on the 〈75 ~m shown an upgrade of 46.40wt% Fe, 28.40wt% sio2 and 2.61wt% Mno for zone 1 and 47.60wt% Fe, 29.17wt% sio2 and 0.50wt% Mno for zone 2. Further milling of the ore to 〈25 ~tm resulted in a higher magnetic-rich product after magnetic separation. Reverse flotation tests were conducted on the agitated magnetic concentrate feed, and the result shows a significant upgrade of Fe compared to that obtained from the non-agitated feed. Iron concentrations greater than 69%, and sio2 concentrations less than 2% with overall magnetite recoveries greater than 67% and 71% were obtained for zones 1 and 2, respectively.

The new lanthanum (Ⅲ) and praseodymium (Ⅲ) complexes of the general formula [Ln(L)3] (Ln=La(Ⅲ) or Pr(Ⅲ); LK=potassium salt of dithiocarbazinates) were prepared by both, conventional thermal and by the use of microwave technology. Elemental analyses, electrical conductance, magnetic moment and electronic, infrared, far-infrared, 1H and 13C NMR spectral studies were used to characterize the complexes. The molecular weights of few complexes were determined by FAB-mass spectra. Nephelauxetic ratio, covalency parameter and bonding parameter for these complexes were also calculated. The probable structures of the complexes were proposed. The antifungal and antibacterial activities of the complexes were evaluated. The activities were correlated with the structures of the compounds.
