solar-driven photocatalytic CO_(2) reduction to produce valuable chemicals and fuels offers an attractive strategy in alleviating the energy *** quantum dots(PtQDs)with TiO_(2) nanowire(TiO_(2)NW)/Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene heterostructures(Pt-TiO_(2)NW/Ti_(3)C_(2)) with tight interfacial contacts between the various components were prepared at room temperature via oxidation *** incorporated PtQDs played crucial roles as electron conduction bridges supported by the cocatalyst effect,effectively enhancing the separation efficiencies of photoinduced electron/hole pairs and improving CO_(2) reduction under simulated solar light *** Pt-TiO_(2)NW/Ti_(3)C_(2) heterostructures exhibited remarkable carbon monoxide(CO)and methane(CH_(4)) production at respective rates of 38.14 and 36.15μmol g^(-1)after 10 h of simulated solar light irradiation,an apparent quantum yield of 1.68%,and 79.2%selectivity for *** photocatalytic activities of the Pt-TiO_(2) NW/Ti_(3)C_(2) heterostructures for CO_(2) reduction were significantly enhanced compared to those of TiO_(2)NW/Ti_(3)C_(2) and the single-component photocatalysts,and they exhibited remarkable stabilities even after five *** addition,the densities of states and electronic characteristics of Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene and Pt-TiO_(2)NW/Ti_(3)C_(2) were studied using density functional theory,and a synergistic mechanism of the improvement in CO_(2) photoreduction is proposed.

Impacts of weaning weights and mycotoxin challenges on jejunal mucosa-associated microbiota,intestinal and systemic health,and growth performance of nursery pigs

Background:This study aimed at investigating the effects of mycotoxin challenge on the growth and physiology of nursery pigs with different weaning ***:At weaning,10 pigs were euthanized to collect jejunal mucosa and 90 pigs were assigned following a randomized complete block design in a 2×2 factorial arrangement of treatments with 3 pigs per *** were:weaning weight(light:body weight,BW9.0 kg);and dietary mycotoxins(supplementation of 0.2 mg/kg aflatoxins,2.0 mg/kg deoxynivalenol).All diets had titanium dioxide as an external marker at 0.5%.Growth performance and fecal score were recorded until pigs achieved 20 kg BW(light pigs average BW=21.1 kg and heavy pigs average BW=20.5 kg).Pigs were sampled for blood,ileal digesta,jejunal tissue and mucosa at 20 kg *** were analyzed using the mixed procedure of *** weaning,light pigs had decreased(Psed(Psis factor-α,and increased(Psity indexes of jejunal mucosa-associated *** 20 kg of BW,light pigs had decreased(Ps decreased(Ps tended to have increased fecal score on d 0(P=0.080),d 10(P=0.069),and increased(Pscore at 20 *** decreased the apparent ileal digestibility of nitrogen(Ps had increased(Pstinal malondialdehydes and interleukin *** tended to increase(P=0.060)intestinal tumor necrosis factor-α.Conclusions:Nursery pigs with light weaning weight were more susceptible to jejunal inflammation and had impaired intestinal health due to weaning stress,whereas mycotoxins diminished the health and growth of nursery pigs regardless of weaning weight.

Identification of the Amplification Mechanism in the First Free-Electron Laser as Net stimulated Free-Electron Two-Quantum stark Emission

We find that the electron phase with respect to the incident laser radiation must be random in the first freeelectron laser （FEL） and, hence, the incident laser radiation works as a relaxation force to keep a Maxwellian distribution. We formulate the threshold laser intensity for amplification which agrees with the measured value in the order of magnitude in the first FEL. The magnetic wiggler must produce an electric wiggler whose period is the same as that of the magnetic wiggler. We find that net stimulated free-electron two-quantum stark （FETQs） emission driven by this electric wiggler is the mechanism responsible for the measured gain and the measured laser intensity at the plateau in the first FEL.

Wearable sensors and supercapacitors using electroplated-Ni/ZnO antibacterial fabric

Herein,nickel nanocones and zinc oxide nanosheets were electroplated onto a fabric to produce multifunctional(wearable,stretchable,washable,hydrophobic,and antibacterial)materials with sensing,heating,and supercapacitive *** these functionalities are integrated into a one-layered fabric that can be used as a portable intelligent electronic textile for potential application in healthcare monitoring,smart sportswear,and energy *** nickel enhances the electrical conductivity and thus increases the electron charge transfer for supercapacitor *** integration of ZnO with the Ni-plated fabric provides pseudocapacitance via redox reactions with the *** resistance of the Ni/ZnO fabric changes in response to external stimuli such as temperature and *** voltage is applied,the fabric generates heat through Joule heating,demonstrating its potential application as winter *** superior mechanical durability of the fabric was confirmed through bending and stretching *** hydrophobic surface prevents viruses contained in liquid droplets from infiltrating the *** addition,bacterial growth is inhibited because of the antibacterial properties of the Ni/ZnO fabric and because of Joule *** one-layered fabric integrated with such multiple functionalities is expected to be applicable in the development of next-generation portable and wearable electronic textiles in various industries.

A Characteristic Non-Reflecting Boundary Treatment in Lattice Boltzmann Method

In lattice Boltzmann methods, disturbances develop at the initial stages of the simulation, the decay characteristics depend mainly on boundary treatment methods; open boundary conditions such as equilibrium and bounce-back schemes potentially generate uncontrollable disturbances. Excessive disturbances originate from non-physical reflecting waves at boundaries. Characteristic boundary conditions utilizing the signs of waves at boundaries which suppress these reflecting waves, as well as their implementation in the lattice Boltzmann method, are introduced herein. The performance of our novel boundary treatment method to effectively suppress excessive disturbances is verified by three different numerical experiments.

Evaluation of spermatogenesis and fertility in F1 male rats after in utero and neonatal exposure to extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields

Aim:To determine whether in utero and neonatal exposure to a 60 Hz extremely low frequency electromagnetic field (EMF) results in spermatotoxicity and reproductive dysfunction in the F1 offspring of ***:Age-matched, pregnant sprague-Dawley rats were exposed continuously (21 h/day) to a 60 Hz EMF at field strengths of 0 (sham control),5,83.3 or 500 μT from day 6 of gestation through to day 21 of *** experimentally generated magnetic field was monitored continuously (uninterrupted monitoring over the period of the study) throughout the ***:No exposure-related changes were found in exposed or sham-exposed animals with respect to the anogenital distance,preputial separation,testis weight,testicular histology,sperm count,daily sperm production, sperm motility,sperm morphology and reproductive capacity of F1 ***:Exposure of sprague- Dawley rats to a 60 Hz EMF at field strengths of up to 500 μT from day 6 of gestation to day 21 of lactation did not produce any detectable alterations in offspring spermatogenesis and fertility.

Molecular Dynamics simulation for Grain Boundary Deformation under Tensile Loading Condition

MD (molecular dynamics) simulations have been performed to observe the behavior of a grain boundary in the α-Fe plate under 2-dimensional loading. In MD simulation, the acceleration of every molecule can be achieved from the potential energy and the force interaction between this molecule and other molecules , and the integration of the motion equation by using Verlet method gives the displacement of each molecule. Initially, four α-Fe rectangular plates having different misorientation angles of the grain boundary are modeled by using the Johnson potential and the Morse potential. The potential energy of the grain boundary system is compared with that of the perfect structure model. Also, the width of the grain boundary can be obtained by investigating the local potential energy distribution. The tensile loading for each grain boundary model is applied and the behavior of the grain boundary is studied. From this study it is clarified that in the case of using the Johnson potential, the obvious fracture mechanism occurs along the grain boundary, and in the case of using the Morse potential, the diffusion of the grain boundary appears instead of the grain boundary fracture.

Cellulose is a renewable biomass material and natural polymer which is abundantly available on Earth,and includes agricultural wastes,forestry residues,and woody *** excellent and smart characteristics of cellulose materials,such as lightweight,biocompatibility,biodegradability,high mechanical strength/stiffness and low thermal expansibility,have made cellulose a highpotential material for various industry *** has recently been discovered as a smart material in the electroactive polymers family which carries the name of cellulose-based electroactive paper(EAPap).The shear piezoelectricity in cellulose polymers is able to induce large displacement output,low actuation voltage,and low power consumption in the application of biomimetic sensors/actuators and electromechanical *** present study provides an overview of biomass pretreatment from various lignocellulosic cellulose(LC)resources and nanocellulose production via TEMPO-mediated oxidation reaction,followed by the production of different types of EAPap versus its performance,and lastly the applications of EAPap in different areas and ***,LC biomass consists mainly of cellulose having a small content of hemicelluloses and lignins which form a defensive inner structure against the degradation of plant cell ***,selective approaches are discussed to ensure proper extraction of cellulosic fibers from complex biomass for further minimization to *** addition,a comprehensive review of the development of cellulose-based EAPap as well as fabrication,characterization,performance enhancement and applications of EAPap devices are discussed herein.

Deformation heterogeneity of Ti under cryogenic channel-die compression

Commercial purity Ti was subjected to channel die compression in liquid nitrogen for the purpose of studying its deformation characteristics from the viewpoint of the grain refinement induced by severe plastic *** specimens showed microstructural heterogeneity in that the initial blocky grains of about 50 urn in size turned into a mixture of the easily deforming soft grains and the hard grains revealing local concentration of dislocations and deformation *** electron back scattered diffraction analysis the in-grain misorientation-axis distribution was studied,from which it was found that the deformation heterogeneity resulted from the anisotropy of individual grains with respect to the compression die:while the soft grains were those oriented favorably for the prismslip,the hard ones were oriented for non-prism slips and deformation *** difference in the response of individual grains,therefore,led to a remarkable effect of the crystal texture of specimens on the maximum strain that can be imposed on specimens without *** on the present results,a way to achieve expedient grain refinement through the cryogenic plane-strain compression was suggested.

Microstructures of Ti-48%Ni shape memory melt-spun ribbons

The effect of wheel speed on microstructures of Ti-48%Ni (mole fraction) melt-spun ribbons was investigated by X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. When the wheel speed is 26 and 42 m/s, the as-spun ribbons are completely crystallized to the Ti-Ni B2 phase. The Ti-rich plate precipitates lying on {100} planes are observed in the as-spun ribbon fabricated with a wheel speed of 26 m/s. The spherical Ti2Ni precipitates are observed at grain boundaries in the as-spun ribbons fabricated with a wheel speed of 42 m/s. Amorphous and B2 phases coexist in the as-spun ribbon fabricated with a wheel speed of 52 m/s. The uniformity of grain size in heat treated ribbons decreases with increasing wheel speed.
