Dating long thrust systems on Mercury:New clues on the thermal evolution of the planet

The global tectonics of Mercury is dominated by contractional features mainly represented by lobate scarps,high relief ridges,and wrinkle *** structures are the expression of thrust faults and are linear or arcuate features widely distributed on ***,these structures are arranged in long systems characterized by a preferential orientation and non-random spatial *** this work we identified five thrust systems,generally longer than 1000 *** were named after the main structure or crater encompassed by the system as:Thakur,Victoria,Villa Lobos,Al-Hamadhani,and *** order to gain clues about their formation,we dated them using the buffered crater counting technique,which can be applied to derive the ages of linear landforms such as faults,ridges and *** estimate the absolute age for the end of the thrust system's activity,we applied both Le Feuvre and Wieczorek Production Function and Neukum Production ***,to further confirm the results obtained with the buffered crater counting method,the classic stratigraphic approach has been adopted,in which a faulted and an unfaulted craters were dated for each *** results gave consistent ages and suggested that the most movements along major structures all over Mercury most likely ended at about 3.6-3.8 *** gives new clues to better understand the tectonics of the planet and,therefore,its thermal ***,the early occurrence of tectonic activity in the planet's history,well before than predicted by the thermophysical models,coupled with the orientation and spatial distribution of the thrust systems,suggests that other processes beside global contraction,like mantle downwelling or tidal despinning,could have contributed to the first stage of the planet's history.

Background Macrophytes may modify benthic biodiversity and biogeochemistry via radial oxygen loss from roots. This condition contrasts sediments anoxia, allows roots respiration, and facilitates aerobic microbial communities and processes in the rhizosphere. simultaneously, the rhizosphere can stimulate anaerobic microorganisms and processes via exudates or by favoring the build-up of electron acceptors as nitrate. As eutrophication often results in organic enrichment in sediments and large internal nutrients recycling, an interesting research question is to investigate whether plants maintain the capacity to stimulate aerobic or anaerobic microbial communities and processes also under elevated organic *** A manipulative experiment was carried out under laboratory-controlled conditions. Microcosms containing bare sediments and sediments transplanted with the macrophyte Vallisneria spiralis L. were created. The effect of the plant was investigated on sediments with moderate(8%) and elevated(21%) organic matter content, after an acclimatization period of 30 days. Chemical and physical parameters, microbial community composition and the potential rates of nitrification, denitrification and nitrate ammonification were measured at two different depths(0–1 and 1–5 cm) after the acclimatization period to evaluate the role of *** Vallisneria spiralis grew and assimilated pore water nutrients at the two organic matter levels and vegetated sediments had always nutrient-depleted porewaters as compared to bare sediments. Nitrifying microbes had a lower relative abundance and diversity compared to denitrifying bacteria. However, regardless of the organic content, in vegetated sediments nitrifiers were detected in deeper horizons as compared to bare sediments, where nitrification was confined near the surface. This narrative review provides an overview of the utilization of endoscopic ultrasound-guided gallbladder drainage(EUs-GBD)as a salvage approach in cases of unsuccessful conventional ***-GBD is a minimally invasive and effective technique for drainage in patients with acute cholecystitis with high risk of *** procedure has demonstrated impressive technical and clinical success rates with low rates of adverse events,making it a safe and effective option for appropriate ***,EUs-GBD can also serve as a rescue option for patients who have failed endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography or EUs biliary drainage for relief of jaundice in malignant biliary ***,patient selection is critical for the success of EUs-GBD,and proper patient selection and risk assessment are important to ensure the safety and efficacy of the *** the field continues to evolve and mature,ongoing research will further refine our understanding of the benefits and limitations of EUs-GBD,ultimately leading to improved outcomes for patients.

1. Introduction The tegmental wall of the tympanic cavity is a thin plate of the temporal bone that separates the middle cranial fossa(MCF) from the ear. This anatomical region consists of two areas: an anterior one, comprised of the tegmen tympani(To′th et al., 2007), and a posterior one, formed by the tegmen antri and the tegmen mastoideum(Makki et al., 2011). In some patients, the tegmental region of the temporal bone can be interrupted, causing a tegmen defect(TD). A TD is sometimes associated with a meningoencephalic herniation(MEH), in which brain tissue herniates through a TD.

Effect of Eu3+,Bi3+,and Li+ doping on luminescent property of GdNbO4

We investigated the emission properties of Eu3+-doped GdNbO4-based oxide phosphors,aiming at improving the Eu3+emission by codoping of Bi3+and Li+.Eu3+singly doped,Eu3+and Bi3+doubly doped,and Eu3+,Bi3+,and Li+triply doped GdNbO4were prepared using a high-temperature solid-state reaction *** red-orange emissions from Eu3+in the singly doped samples are significantly improved by the codoping of Bi3+,mainly due to the energy transfer from Bi3+to Eu3+.The additional codoping of Li+is found to increase the Eu3+emission *** improvement might be attributed to the increase in the photoluminescent quantum yield originating from larger grain sizes and better crystallinity.A detailed analysis of the X-ray diffraction pattern and the asymmetric ratio estimated from the photoluminescence spectra show that the local lattice environment around Eu3+in GdNbO4does not change significantly with the codoping of Bi3+and Li+.Our results indicate that Li+doping is a promising way to improve the emission properties of rare-earth ion-doped GdNbO4phosphors.

Homocysteinemia and Depression in Community-Dwelling Older Adults: The Cohort Longitudinal study “InveCeAb” (Brain Aging in Abbiategrasso)

Depression is a major health problem, especially for elderly people. According to the “homocysteine hypothesis of depression”, high homocysteine levels may cause depression of mood via cerebrovascular diseases. Whilst biologically plausible, such hypothesis needs yet confirmation. We aimed at: 1) studying the relationships between homocysteinemia (HCY) and depression in a community-dwelling cohort of people aged 70 to 75 years at baseline;2) investigating plasma levels of HCY and 3) comparing these levels between males and females, in the same population. We exploited the data from four waves (2010, 2012, 2014 and 2018) of the longitudinal study “InveCeAb”, with specific regard towards mood assessment, by Geriatric Depression scale (GDs) scoring, and diagnosis of clinically relevant or subthreshold depression. HCY plasma levels were measured in the waves 2012, 2014 and 2018. sample attrition was due mainly to death or overall worsening. No statistically significant differences were found in plasma homocysteine levels in each wave, according to depressive symptoms. No correlations were found between plasma HCY levels in each wave with their corresponding GDs scores, even after adjustment for folate and cobalamin blood concentrations. Dichotomized levels of HCY (≤15 vs >15 μM/l) were not associated with dichotomized GDs scores (≤4 vs higher), clinically relevant and subthreshold depression diagnosis and any antidepressive use, in any wave. First (2012) HCY levels increased with participants’ increasing age, cross-sectionally. Listwise HCY concentrations decreased along the 3 waves. HCY levels were always higher in males than in females. Our results may challenge the “homocysteine hypothesis” of depression, whilst supporting the role of high homocysteinemia as a marker of overall bad health.
