Insufficient knowledge of the germination ecology of local species is one of the main constraints to restoration of degraded rural lands. We tested seeds from fourteen sudanian savanna species targeted for restoration for their response to two different pretreatments（conventional and prolonged acid pretreatments） and two different storage conditions（ambient room conditions and refrigerator at 4 C）. For 6 of the studied species, longer soaking in sulphuric acid significantly improved germination rates and also reduced the germination time of some species. storage condition, in general did not affect germination rates except for two species where cool storage depressed germination. The practical implication is that, for the species tested, when mature seeds are collected for plantation in the upcoming rainy season, there is no need to invest in infrastructure and energy for storing in cold *** study also revealed that in general when seeds are stored in ambient conditions from the time of collection up to seeding time, although germination rate does not increase, germination time is shortened and this could be of great interest in synchronizing germination in real field conditions.

Background: Heart dysfunction and sudden death are common complications in post-myocardial infarction. Purpose: This study aims to contribute to improving patient’s management by determining the factors correlated to the occurrence of left ventricular dysfunction or post-infarction sudden death. Method: It was a transversal, descriptive and analytical study conducted from January to October 2021. Results: The variables studied covered epidemiological, therapeutic and electrocardiographic aspects. There were 102 patients admitted for a recent revascularized myocardial infarction or not who had received a 24-hour ECG Holter after the acute phase of coronary event. The study population was predominantly men 88% versus 12% women with a sex ratio of 0.15. The discharge prescription was 74% antiarrhythmic, 91% platelet antiaggregator and 14% anticoagulant. The capital of Guinea, Conakry, faces a notable difficulty due to a water shortage, which is worsened by the rapid increase in population and urban development. The Guinean Water Company (sEG) faces challenges in supplying water to the entire city due to its limited area of approximately 420 kmsup>2sup> and a population of 2 million. Moreover, the population growth rate is anticipated to increase dramatically, exacerbating the difficulty of fulfilling future water requirements. As a result, this study employs data from the Knoema website and the Institute of National statistics of Guinea (INs) to examine the water production and distribution process by the sEG. The study examines the challenges related to water scarcity in Conakry and suggests strategies to assist the city in managing the present circumstances and planning for the future. The primary objective is to get a long-lasting water supply and uphold water quality to advance public health.

Purpose: The authors analyzed the epidemiological and clinical aspects of diabetic retinopathy at the Center for the Application of the specialized studies Diploma in Ophthalmology, Gamal Abdel Nasser University (CHU/ Donka) Conakry. Diabetic retinopathy (eye damage: eye and retina) is a serious complication of diabetes that affects 50% of type 2 diabetic patients. The eyes are particularly sensitive to damage to a small vessel. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the retinal localization of diabetic micro angiopathy resulting in impaired blood flow in the affected territories, the consequences of which will determine the clinical manifestations of the disease. DR is the leading cause of vision loss in adults of working age. Patients and Methods: This is a longitudinal prospective study carried out at CADEs/O concerning 198 diabetic patients. The selection criteria were that the media be transparent and the fundus accessible over a period of six months from February to July 2018. Results: A total of 73 patients (37%) presented with diabetic retinopathy with an average age of 49.5 +/−9 years. The sex ratio (M/F) was 0.6 with a female predominance of 59%. Liberal profession patients were the most numerous 47.5%. Type 2 diabetes was the most common (85.86%). Diabetes fundus assessment was the most common reason for consultation (52%). Arterial hypertension was the most incriminated risk factor (45.45%) followed by the poor balance of diabetes (40.90%), and the age of diabetes (28.28%). 9.5% had diabetic retinopathy complicated by rubella iris, neovascular glaucoma and retinal detachment. Conclusion: Diabetic retinopathy is a common condition for which early detection and regular monitoring must be the rule to prevent, slow down or avoids irreversible blindness if possible, induced by this pathology by a good balance of diabetes and good control of associated risk factors.

Pachymeningeal en plaque tuberculoma is a rare manifestation of tuberculosis and has a poor prognosis if not diagnosed early and treated adequately. The aim of the present paper is to collect the reported clinical and radiological signs in the literature and compare it with a personal observation to evaluate the possibility of a presumptive diagnosis. A 4-year-old boy presented at the pediatric emergency department with 7 days history of severe headache, vomiting blurred vision and had one partial seizure. His neurologic examination was notable for decreased visual acuity with bilateral papilledema and intact extra-ocular muscles. His neck was rigid. Neuroimaging revealed a multifocal dural-based mass on the fronto-parietal convexity with dense heterogeneous contrast enhancement and hydrocephalus. He has undergone a Ventriculoperitoneal shunt and surgical excision of the mass the next day. Outcome was favorable with antituberculosis therapy and corticosteroids. The clinical presentation and outcome were similar to the reported cases in the literature.

Introduction: Anemia is one of the most common public health problems in the world and affects all ages. Objective: To describe the etiological and evolutionary profile of anemia in patients hospitalized in the Internal Medicine Unit of the Fousseyni Daou Hospital in Kayes. Methodology: It was a descriptive and cross-sectional study with retrospective data collection which took place from January 1 to December 31, 2020 at the Internal Medicine Unit of the Fousseyni Daou Hospital in Kayes. It covered all anemic patients hospitalized during the study period. Results: We identified 91 cases of anemia out of 200 patients admitted to the Unit that is a hospital prevalence of 45.5%. The age group of 26 to 35 years was the most represented, that is to say 29 cases (31.87%) with an average age of 43.55 years ± 17.48 years, the female sex predominated, 51 cases (56.04%) with a sex ratio of 0.78. Housewives represented 41 cases (45.05%). The majority of patients resided in rural areas 48 cases (52.75%). The main manifestations were: asthenia 75 cases (78.02%), vertigo 68 cases (74.72%), dyspnea 62 cases (68.13%), headaches 59 cases (64.83%), palpitations 55 cases (60.44%), conjunctival pallor 53 cases (58.24%), tachycardia 43 cases (47.25%), systolic murmur 18 cases (19.78%) and IMO 11 cases (12.09%). The associated pathologies were: infected diabetic wounds 25.27%, followed by bacterial pleuro-pneumopathy 18.68%. Biologically, microcytic anemia was the most frequent 49 cases (53.84%), followed by normocytic anemia 35 cases (38.46%) and macrocytic anemia 7 cases (7.7%). Anemia was hypochromic, 53 cases (58.24%) were more encountered compared to normochromic anemia 38 cases (41.76%). The anemia was: severe in 43 cases (47.25%), moderate 29 cases (31.87%) and mild 19 cases (20.88%). Introduction: Urinary tract infection is one of the most frequent public health problems in the world and concerns all ages. Objective: To describe the epidemiological, clinical and biological profile of urinary tract infection in the internal medicine unit of the Fousseyni Daou hospital in Kayes. Methodology: It was a descriptive and cross-sectional study with retrospective data collection which took place from January 1 to December 31, 2020 at the Internal Medicine Unit of the Fousseyni Daou Hospital in Kayes. It covered all outpatients and hospitalized patients presenting with a urinary tract infection during the study period. Results: We identified 79 cases of urinary tract infection out of 145 requests for ECBU, that is a positivity rate of 53.10% and out of a total of 1883 admissions that is a hospital prevalence of 4.19%. The age groups of 36 to 45 years and 46 to 55 years were more represented in 28 cases (35.44%) and 25 cases (31.64%) with an average age of 45 years ± 10. The female sex was predominant, 42 cases (53.16%) with a sex ratio of 0.88. Housewives were more represented 28 cases (34.44%). The majority of patients resided in rural areas 49 cases (62.03%). The history was dominated by the following pathologies: hypertension 48.10%, diabetes 36.70% and gastropathy 30.37%. The main clinical manifestations were: Urinary burning 67 cases (84.81%), Dysuria 65 cases (82.27%), Pelvic pain 59 cases (74.68%), Fever 57 cases (72.15%). The epidemiological profile of the isolated strains was dominated by enterobacteriaceae, followed by gram-positive cocci and gram-negative bacilli. The main bacteria responsible for urinary tract infections in order of frequency: Escherichia coli (45.56%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (11.39%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (8.86%), staphylococcus aureus (7.59%), streptococcus sp (6.33%), Enterobacter cloacae (3.79%), Acinetobacter sp (3.79%). Intraventricular haemorrhage (IVH) is an extremely rare and poorly described complication of central nervous system Tuberculosis (CNs-TB). In this study, we report the case of a 42-year-old man who presented with a weakness of the left hemibody with diffuse headache, altered consciousness associated with fever. No notion of contagion was noted. Brain computed tomography (CT) showed a hematoma in the occipital horns of the lateral ventricles with peri-lesional oedema of the right hemisphere;after injection of contrast product (CP), there were ring-shaped contrasts in the occipital horn of the lateral ventricle and the right thalamus. Angioscan showed no aneurysms or vascular anomalies. Chest X-ray showed micronodular opacities less than 1.5 cm in size in relation to miliary. Xpert MTB/RIF of sputum and cerebrospinal fluid (CsF) showed Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MT). The patient’s course was favourable under antihypertensive and antitubercular treatment. Conclusion: This case illustrates the diagnostic difficulties of CNs-TB due to the polymorphism of the clinical and radiological presentation of CNs-TB.

Cerebellar liponeurocytoma (CL) described under many different names, is a rare WHO grade I or II well differentiated neurocytic tumor of the cerebellum with focal lipomatous differentiation. Mainly reported in adulthood, it is fought to be a posterior fossa benign tumor. In this paper, we talk about a 64-year-old woman, following up for Parkinson’s disease presented in our department for 7 months’ history of headache and gait disturbance. MRI showed a right cerebellopontine angle (CPA) heterogeneous unlimited tumor mimicking an epidermoid cyst. she underwent a lateral suboccipital craniectomy procedure that permitted obtaining the whole gross total resection of this tumor. The histopathological diagnosis was a cerebellar liponeurocytoma. she was discharged from hospital the 8th day after surgery and was free of symptoms since 5 years.

Intracranial tuberculomas are one of the most serious formsof tuberculosis disease after meningitis tuberculosis. It incidence varies around 0.15% - 0.18% in the development world to 5% - 30% of intracranial masses in some under developments areas. These tuberculomas, of course ubiquitous, are mostly diagnosed in the adulthood and usually located in the cerebellum and the cerebral hemispheres. Intra ventricular involving is uncommon and just 10 cases had been described in the literature. We report a case of an intraventricular tuberculoma in a 26- year-old man and we discuss the pathogenesis and the radiological findings according this location.
