With the rapid development of optoelectronics,electrochromic(EC)materials(ECMs)with the advan-tages of low power consumption,easy viewing,high contrast ratio,etc have attached more and more attention from the fields of smart windows,electronic billboards,emerging wearable and portable electronics,and other next-generation *** oxide(NiO)is a promising candidate for high-performance ECMs because of its neutral-colored states and low ***,NiO-based ECMs still face the problem of slow switching speed due to their low electrical conductivity and small lattice ***-organic frameworks(MOFs)are promising candidates to fabricate hollow and porous transition metal oxides(TMOs)with high ion transport efficiency,excellent specific capacitance,and electrochemical *** this work,porous yolk-shell NiO nanospheres(PYs-NiO Nss)were syn-thesized via a solvothermal and subsequent calcination process of Ni-MOF,which exhibited outstanding EC *** the large specific surface areas and hollow porous nanostructures were conducive to ionic transport,PYs-NiO Nss exhibited a fast coloring/bleaching speed(3.6/3.9 s per one coloring/bleaching cycle)and excellent cycling stability(82%of capacity retention after 3000 cycles).These superior EC properties indicated that the PYs-NiO Nss was a promising candidate for high-performance EC *** work provides a new and feasible strategy for the efficient preparation of TMOs ECMs with good EC performance,especially fast switching speed.

It has always been challenging work to reconcile the contradiction between the strength and plasticity of titanium *** powder bed fusion(LPBF) is a convenient method to fabricate innovative composites including those inspired by gradient layered *** this work,we used LPBF to selectively prepare Ti N/Ti gradient layered structure(GLsTi)composites by using different N_(2)–Ar ratios during the LPBF *** systematically investigated the mechanisms of in-situ synthesis Ti N,high strength and ductility of GLsTi composites using microscopic analysis,TEM characterization,and tensile testing with digital image ***,a digital correspondence was established between the N_(2) concentration and the volume fraction of LPBF in-situ synthesized Ti *** results show that the GLsTi composites exhibit superior mechanical properties compared to pure titanium fabricated by LPBF under pure ***,the tensile strength of GLsTi was more than 1.5times higher than that of LPBF-formed pure titanium,reaching up to 1100 MPa,while maintaining a high elongation at fracture of 17%.GLsTi breaks the bottleneck of high strength but low ductility exhibited by conventional nanoceramic particle-strengthened titanium matrix composites,and the hetero-deformation induced strengthening effect formed by the Ti N/Ti layered structure explained its strength-plasticity balanced *** microhardness exhibits a jagged variation of the relatively low hardness of 245 HV0.2 for the pure titanium layer and a high hardness of 408 HV0.2 for the N_(2) in-situ synthesis *** study provides a new concept for the structure-performance digital customization of 3D-printed Ti-based composites.

To further improve the performance of passive intelligent reflecting surface(IRs)-assisted communication systems and mitigate the serious path loss due to “double-fading ” of IRs-assisted links, an active IRs-aided simultaneous wireless information and power transfer(sWIPT) system is investigated. This paper jointly optimizes the transmit beamforming at the base station(Bs) and the phase shifts at the active IRs in order to maximize the power collected by the energy harvesting receiver under both perfect and imperfect channel state information(CsI)states, subject to the signal-to-interference-noise ratio constraint of the information decoding receiver, and the power constraints of the Bs/IRs. Under perfect CsI, the alternating optimization algorithm is utilized for obtaining the transmit beamforming at the Bs and the phase shifts at the active IRs. For each subproblem, we first transform nonconvex objective function and constraints into convex ones by performing a first-order Taylor expansion. Then, each subproblem is solved by using the interior point method. Given that obtaining perfect CsI is impractical, two robust beamforming designs are proposed for imperfect CsI case. Under the bounded CsI error model, we first transform the non-convex optimization problem into two semidefinite programming subproblems, and then solve each subproblem based on s-procedure and sequential rank-one constraint relaxation(sROCR) techniques. Under the stochastic CsI error model, the alternating optimization method is applied in an iterative manner based on Bernstein-type inequality and sROCR technique. simulation results show that both robust and non-robust schemes for active IRs-assisted sWIPT systems can achieve extremely superior performance over conventional passive IRs-assisted systems under the same overall power budget.

Background and aim:Keratoconus is a slowly progressive and non-inflammatory disease of eye of unknown etiology characterized by significant structural degeneration,thinning and protrusion of *** cross linking using Riboflavin/ultraviolet A,paraformaldehyde and glutaraldehyde has been widely used to treat keratoconus,but these techniques have several clinical *** study aimed to develop a rapid,safer,less toxic and more effective method to increase the corneal stiffness hence treating keratoconus by using EDC/NHs coupling with pimelic acid(PA)as ***:The viability of corneal epithelial and endothelial cells was examined using Alamar *** corneal collagen and tissue integrity were evaluated with Masson and hematoxylin and eosin stains *** tensile testing was conducted to determine the tissue *** further assessed the effective penetration depth of cross-linking by fluorescence dye and confocal *** assay was performed to detect the damaged DNA fragments in the presence of ***:The effect of PA solution on corneal cross-linking showed a significant increase in corneal rigidity without affecting the epithelium integrity under neutralized pH condition,while DEC/NHs alone did not induce the mechanical *** penetration depth showed consistent results with increased stiffness,which could be affected by the parameters including pH condition,coupling with or without *** addition,PA significantly decreased the percentage of TUNEL-positive cells compared to that of EDC/NHs only *** cytotoxic effect to endothelium was considered minimal and protected in the presence of ***:We demonstrated PA as a potential alternative for cross-linking in the model of whole eye with intact epithelium and its protective role on *** administration of this chemical cross-linker stands as an extremely promising technique for the treatment of corneal keratoconus.
