On the Kpinnou ranch in Benin, it was.obs.rved that the Girolando dairy cattle which graze Panieum maximum var. CI are more s.s.eptible to infes.ation of ticks. The purpos. of this.s.udy was.to highlight the interactions.between ticks.and their bovine hos.s.and two types.of artificial grazing pas.ures. Nineteen young Girolando dairy cattle were us.d during the big rainy s.as.n （March-June） 2009. All pres.nt ticks.on the animals.have been counted according to the body region. The bovine have been divided into two relatively homogeneous.groups.often and nine animals. The group I of 10 animals.had been grazed on Panicum maximum whereas.the group 2 of 9 animals.had been grazed on Panicum maximum var. C 1. During the two months.of grazing, a weekly monitoring of the evolution of the load in ticks.has.been achieved. Four genera of ticks.were identified on the bovine Girolandos.（Amblyomma, Hyalomma, Rhipicephalus.and Boophilus.. The Boophilus.genus.is.the mos. abundant （P 〈 0.05）. The animals.having grazed Panicum maximum var. C I are more infes.ed than thos. that have been grazed Panicum maximum. A variation of the rate of infes.ation of the animals.has.been obs.rved in relation to the different body areas. The colour of the coat als. has.an effect on the load in tick of the bovine. The bovine of dark coat are in general more infes.ed （P 〈 0.05） than thos. of clear colour.

Introduction: Birth s.acing to prevent clos.ly-s.aced pregnancies. which are a s.urce of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality, is.not always.res.ected by our women, as.recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). The objective was.to s.udy the factors.as.ociated with clos.ly-s.aced pregnancies.among women followed at the Departmental Hos.ital Center du Zou et du Colline (DHC/Z-C) in 2022. s.udy Method: This.was.a des.riptive, analytical cros.-s.ctional s.udy with pros.ective data collection from 20 May to 30 June 2022. Res.lts. At the end of the s.udy, 83 of the 117 women s.rveyed had clos. pregnancies. a frequency of 70.94%. They had an average age of 27.0 ± 6.3 years.and were of Fon ethnicity and related in 91.57% of cas.s. The majority were married (96.60%). The factors.s.gnificantly as.ociated with thes. clos.ly s.aced pregnancies.were age between 25 and 30 years. hous.hold occupation, age at firs. birth, age at marriage, women’s.perception of contraceptive method (CM), women’s.knowledge of the exis.ence of a center providing family planning s.rvices.and non-us. of MC. Conclus.on: Clos. pregnancies.are s.ill very common in the commune of Abomey. It is.therefore important to increas. the us. of contraceptive methods.in this.part of the country.

Effect of s.ze and Initial Water Content on the Effective Diffus.on Coefficient during Convective Drying of s.eet Potato Cut into Cubic and Cylindrical s.apes

In this.article, we inves.igated the influence of s.ze and initial water content on the effective diffus.on coefficient of s.eet potatoes.s.mples.cut into cubic and cylindrical s.apes. The s.zes.of the cubic s.mples.are 0.5, 1, 1.5, 1.75, 2, 2.5 and 3 cm edge with a res.ective initial water content of 2.7, 3.76, 3.48, 2.68, 3.28, 2.17 and 2.29 kg/kgms. For cylindrical s.mples. the radius.is.s.t at 0.5 cm and s.mple heights.are 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 and 4 cm with res.ective water contents.of 2.2, 3.19, 2.85, 2.1, 2.17, 2.39 and 2.03 kg/kgms. The effective diffus.on coefficients.of cubic s.mples.are of the order of 10−10 and 10−9 m2∙s.1 grew with s.mple edge. As.for the cylindrical s.mples. the effective diffus.on coefficients.were of the order of 10−9 m2∙s.1 and there was.no linear correlation between cylinder height and their effective diffus.on coefficient. As.for the examination of the initial water content on the effective diffus.on coefficient, it turned out that the initial water content had no influence on the effective diffus.on coefficient of the s.eet potato s.mples.

When contributing to participatory res.arch, farmers.us.ally appreciate the performance of cowpea varieties.us.ng qualitative s.ores. The s.ore they attribute to each variety are bas.d on local knowledge. The s.ecific criteria they individually us. to attribute a s.ore are not well des.ribed. The objectives.of this.work were to: 1) identify and des.ribe exhaus.ively the local criteria us.d by farmers.to meas.re the agronomic performance of cowpea;2) as.es. the variability and s.atis.ical s.ructure of thes. farmer criteria acros. local contexts.3) and analyze the as.ociation between thes. farmer criteria and the clas.ical agronomic meas.rement. To achieve thes. objectives. an augmented block des.gn was.implemented acros. fifteen locations.in the regions.of Maradi, Dos.o and Tillabéri, repres.nting a divers.ty of local contexts. From a s.t of 36 cowpea varieties. fifteen varieties.were s.wn per location, including five varieties.(controls. common to all locations. In each location, two replicates.were s.wn in randomized Fis.er’s.blocks. After agronomic meas.rement and participatory evaluation (s.oring of varieties.by farmers., a group s.rvey (focus.group) was.conducted in each location to identify the criteria cons.dered by farmers.to found their dis.retional s.oring of varieties.during the participatory evaluation. The analys.s.of the data identified, acros. locations. thirteen criteria defined by farmers.to characterize the agronomic performance of cowpea. s.me of thes. criteria were different according to location. Farmers.ranked the three varieties.with the bes. performance for each agronomical trait (Top 3 varieties.. A comparis.n of the farmer ranking with the ranking bas.d on agronomic meas.rements.revealed s.milarity and complementary between both methods. This.s.udy highlighted the importance of cons.dering both local and s.ientific knowledge in local varietal evaluations.

The Kandi bas.n is.located in northeas. Benin (Wes. Africa). This.s.udy is.focus.d on the es.imation of water fluxes.exchanged between the river Niger (and its.tributaries. and the trans.oundary Iullemeden Aquifer s.s.em. In that framework, an innovative approach bas.d on the application of the Bayes.an Mixing Model (Mixs.AR) analys.s.on water is.topes.(oxygen-18, deuterium and tritium) was.performed. Moreover, to as.es. the relevance of the model outputs. Pears.n’s.correlation and Principal Component Analys.s.(PCA) have been done. A complex relations.ip between s.rface water and groundwater has.been found. s.xty percent (60%) of groundwater s.mples.are made of more than 70% river water and rainwater;while 31.25% of s.rface water s.mples.are made of about 84% groundwater. To s.feguard s.s.ainable water res.urces.for the well-being of the local communities. s.rface water and groundwater mus. be managed as.a unique component in the Kandi bas.n.

Introduction: Pregnancy, childbirth, and their cons.quences.continue to be the leading caus. of death, illnes., and dis.bility among women of reproductive age in developing countries. In Niger, maternal deaths.account for about 39% of all deaths.of women aged 15-49. Our aim was.to identify the factors.linked to maternal mortality in order to contribute to its.reduction. Method: this.is.a des.riptive retros.ective s.udy of 379 cas.s.of maternal deaths.collected at the Maradi Cs.E from January 1, 2018, to December 31, ***: Our s.udy’s.maternal mortality ratio is.2645.72 per 100,000 live births. The mean age of our patients.was.27.46 years. with extremes.ranging from 15 to 47 years. The 20-24 age group was.the mos. repres.nted, with 88 cas.s.(23.2%). Hous.wives.were 361 (95.3%), and 334 patients.(88.1%) were uneducated. There were 261 of them from rural areas. i.e. 69%. The mean parity in our s.udy was.3.46, with extremes.ranging from 0 to 15. Multiparous.patients.117 cas.s.(30.9%) repres.nted the mos. s.gnificant proportion. Only 42 patients.(11.08%) had performed four or more antenatal cons.ltations. Direct obs.etric caus.s.accounted for 56.73% of the caus.s.of maternal death. Anemia was.the leading caus. of maternal death (31.66%). Nearly half of the patients.had died before 24 hours.after admis.ion, i.e. 49.86%. Conclus.on: Maternal mortality remains.a s.gnificant challenge for developing countries. given its.magnitude and timid decline. The fight to reduce maternal mortality mus. be the priority of our countries. health policies.

Res.lts.The global IP was.16.62%with Ps. and 72.20%without *** index did not differ s.gnificantly between the treated zone(27.8) and the control zone(29.1).The total geometric mean of DP was.309 in the treated zone and 600 in the control *** level is.8.7 in the control zone and 9.5 in the treated *** noted a predominance of anemia in the control zone compared to the treated ***:The Ps. have contributed to a s.gnificant reduction in morbidity in the commune of Aguegues.

Antenatal care is.a s.fe way to prevent pregnancy-related health problems. difficult deliveries.and even further to anticipate low birth weight [1]. But pregnant women, es.ecially in Africa, do not attend antenatal clinics.as.recommended by the WHO. The general objective of this.s.udy was.to s.udy the norm in terms.of Antenatal Cons.ltation (ANC) frequency as.well as.the determinants.of the frequency among women who gave birth in the maternity hos.itals.of Agbangnizoun. Our res.arch was.a cros.-s.ctional, des.riptive, retros.ective and quantitative type, which was.carried out among 335 women in Agbangnizoun, Benin from 1 February to 3 April 2020 (3 months., in order to find out the general or s.ecific characteris.ics.of women that we as.ociate with the frequency of prenatal cons.ltation. At the end of the s.udy, we found that 60%, 68% and 15% of the s.rveyed population had received ANC in the firs., s.cond and third trimes.ers. res.ectively. Ethnicity, income level of s.ous.s.over the three trimes.ers.as.well as.the level of their knowledge and overall practice of ANC are determinants.of the frequency of prenatal cons.ltation.
