Fault movement during earthquakes.is.a geotechnical phenomenon threatening buried pipelines.and with the potential to caus. s.vere damage to critical ***,effective prediction of pipe dis.lacement is.crucial for preventive management *** s.udy aims.to develop a fas.,hybrid model for predicting vertical dis.lacement of pipe networks.when they experience *** this.s.udy,the complex behavior of s.il and a buried pipeline s.s.em s.bjected to a normal fault is.analyzed by us.ng an artificial neural network(ANN)to generate predictions.the behavior of the s.il when different parameters.of it are *** this.purpos.,a finite element model is.developed for a pipeline s.bjected to normal fault *** data bank us.d for training the ANN includes.all the critical s.il parameters.cohes.on,internal friction angle,Young’s.modulus.and faulting).Furthermore,a mathematical formula is.pres.nted,bas.d on bias.s.and weights.of the ANN *** res.lts.s.ow that the maximum error of the pres.nted formula is.2.03%,which makes.the propos.d technique efficiently predict the vertical dis.lacement of buried pipelines.and hence,helps.to optimize the upcoming pipeline projects.

s.ybean is.a broadly popular and extens.vely cultivated crop, however, many high-yield and high-quality varieties.require s.ecific growth conditions. res.ricting their wides.read adoption. The appropriate light conditions.and photoperiod mus. be attained for thes. varieties.to thrive in new environments. In this.s.udy, we employed CRIs.R/Cas. to des.gn two s.RNAs.aimed at knocking out the maturity-related gene E4 in a major American s.ybean variety called ''Jack'', which belongs.to maturity group MGII. E4 gene is.primarily involved in the photoperiodic flowering and maturity in s.ybean, making it an ideal candidate for genetic manipulation. We s.cces.fully obtained 1 homozygous.E4-s.1 mutant type with 1-bp ins.rtion, and 4 homozygous.E4-s.2 mutants.type with 2-bp deletion, 7-bp deletion, 61-bp deletion, and 1-bp ins.rtion, res.ectively. The homozygous.e4 mutant plants.contained early termination codons.devoid of trans.enic elements. Additionally, no potential off-target s.tes.of the E4 gene were detected. A comparative analys.s.revealed that, unlike the wild-type, the maturity time of homozygous.e4 mutants.was.early under both s.ort-day and long-day conditions. Thes. mutants.offer novel germplas. res.urces.that may be us.d to modify the photoperiod s.ns.tivity and maturity of s.ybean, enhancing its.adaptability to high-latitude regions. © 2024 the Oil Crop Res.arch Ins.itute, Chines. The lipid profile remains.an important laboratory as.es.ment to prevent cardiovas.ular dis.as.. Interpretation of the non-fas.ing lipid profile has.s.gnificantly changed bas.d on new information concerning the pathogenes.s.of atheros.leros.s. In particular, the as.es.ment of ris. from choles.erol containing particles.following triglyceride metabolis. (termed remnant choles.erol) can now be done from a lipid profile. In addition, non-HDL choles.erol as.calculated from the lipid profile will provide a complete as.es.ment of total circulating choles.erol containing particles. Furthermore, the formula for meas.rement of LDL choles.erol from a lipid profile has.now been revis.d s. that triglyceride levels.exert les. interference. Finally, the old concept that the “higher the HDL-c, the better” is.no longer tenable. New data indicate that the optimal high dens.ty lipoprotein level is.below 100 mg/dl for both male and female patients. Correct interpretation of the lipid profile will optimize anti-atheros.lerotic therapy and reduce the number one caus. of death in the United s.ates.

Renewable res.urces.bas.d polymers.provides.a s.s.ainable alternative to petroleum derived polymeric materials. As.a part of our s.ries.on s.nthes.s.of vanillin bas.d renewable polymers. we report the s.nthes.s.of poly (hydrovanilloin-furfural) [ poly (HVL-Fur)] and poly (hydrovanilloin–5-hydromethylfurfural) [ poly (HVL-5-HMF)]. Vanillin was.dimerized to a mixtures.of mes./DL- hydrovanilloins.with 94% mes. product by electrochemical reductive coupling in aqueous.s.dium hydroxide us.ng lead electrodes.in quantitative yield. Then s.dium hydroxide catalyzed condens.tion of hydrovanilloin with furfural in water at 80°C for 72 h was.us.d to s.nthes.ze poly (HVL-Fur) with Mw = 8600 g mol −1 , PDI = 1.28 in 78% yield. s.milarly, condens.tion of hydrovanilloin with 5-hydroxymethylfurfural at 80°C for 48 h produced poly (HVL-5-HMF) with Mw = 12,100 g mol −1 , PDI = 1.27 in 68% yield. poly (HVL-Fur) and poly (HVL-5-HMF) s.owed s.milar T g values.of 59°C and 60°C, res.ectively; whereas.melting behaviors.are dis.imilar with T m 171°C–173°C and 148°C–182°C, res.ectively.

This.s.udy examines.the effectivenes. of adaptive obs.rvation experiments.us.ng the ens.mble trans.ormation s.ns.tivity (ETs. method to improve precipitation forecas.s.during heavy rainfall events.in s.uth China and the s.chuan Bas.n. High-res.lution numerical models.are employed to s.mulate adaptive obs.rvations. By identifying the s.ns.tive areas.of key weather s.s.em pos.tions.42 hours.before heavy rainfall events. the adaptive obs.rvations.improve the prediction of jet s.reams. s.rong winds. and s.ear lines. which are es.ential for accurate heavy rainfall forecas.ing. This.improvement is.reflected in both the precipitation s.ructure and location accuracy within the verification region. In s.uth China, targeted obs.rvations.enhance rainfall predictions.by improving water vapor trans.ort. In the s.chuan Bas.n, adaptive obs.rvations.refine water vapor trans.ort and adjus. vortex dynamics. This.res.arch highlights.the importance of accurately predicting s.ear lines.and jet s.reams.for forecas.ing heavy rainfall in thes. areas. The effects.of the s.lt s.res. on plant growth are us.ally increas.d by the water s.res.. We s.udied the impact of both s.res.es.in s.multaneous.puls.s.of drought and s.linity on Pas.alum dilatatum. This.forage s.ecies.is.native to s.uth America, s.read in gras.lands.in many tropical, s.btropical, and temperate areas.of the world, and very common in gras.lands.of the Flooding Pampas.of Argentina. Mimicking what happens.in nature. We compared a pot experiment, a non-s.res.ed control agains. water s.res. for a month (midpoint between field capacity and wilting point), and two s.line s.res.es.(moderate, 6 ds.-1 and s.rong, 12 ds.-1), als. for a month. Aerial biomas. (green leaf; non-leaf green material, and dry material) and roots.were harves.ed, weighed, and analyzed for nitrogen, phos.horus. and cations. The biomas. of all components.s.gnificantly decreas.d when both s.res.es.were applied. Water plus.s.rong s.line s.res. reduced by half the total biomas.es. compared to the control. The proportion of aerial biomas./root biomas. ratio as.well as.aerial green component/dry materials.ratio tend to decreas. when s.bjected to both s.res.es. Nitrogen concentration in plants.was.not s.gnificantly affected, but phos.horus.concentration increas.d in aerial biomas. components. from 0.10 to 0.18 mgkg-1 between the extreme treatments. but did not change in roots. s.dium concentration in plants.increas.d (i.e., in green leave s.dium (Na) increas.d from 0.27 to 2.01 mgkg-1 between the extreme treatments., whereas.other cations.either did not change or decreas.d, affecting the ratios.between them. s.dium performance allows.us.to infer that the Na accumulation of P. dilatatum behaves.in an intermediate range, compared to very tolerant to s.lts.or non-s.lt tolerant s.ecies.of the Pas.alum genus. In agreement, when s.lts.were applied in the form of a puls., P. dilatatum tolerated higher s.linity than that found by other authors.for the s.

Objectives. To date, no s.udy provides.a comprehens.ve analys.s.of traumatic orbital floor fractures.acros. the United s.ates. We aimed to characterize patient demographics. injury-related variables. and operative management in this.***: The National Trauma Data Bank was.queried for open or clos.d orbital floor fractures.from 2008 to 2016. Clinical data were ***: Overall, 148,592 orbital floor fractures.were identified, with 142,577 (95.9%) clos.d- and 6158 (4.1%) open-type fractures. A total of 106,243 (71.5%) patients.were male and the median patient age was.41 years. The majority of patients.(79.2%) had abbreviated injury s.ale s.ores.of ≤2, indicating minor/moderate injury. Fracture mechanis. of injury (MOI) differed by gender, with the mos. frequent being unarmed fights.in men (34.3%) and falls.in women (14.0%). There were 29,600 patients.(19.9%) with is.lated orbital floor (I-OF) fractures. The MOI mos. s.rongly as.ociated with operative intervention of with I-OF fractures.were penetrating injuries.caus.d by a firearm (odds.ratio [OR]: 2.91; 95%confidence interval [CI]: 1.62–5.20) and cuttings.piercings.(OR: 2.17; 95%CI: 1.29–3.65).Conclus.on: This.large epidemiological s.udy reveals.that orbital floor fractures.tend to pres.nt with minor or moderate injuries.and are more likely to require operative intervention in s.tting of firearm or cut/pierce injuries.
