KLnF_(4):Yb^(3+),Er^(3+)/Ho^(3+)(Ln=Y,Yb,Gd)phos.hors.were prepared by s.lid-s.ate reaction *** each of the Yb^(3+)/Er^(3+)and Yb^(3+)/Ho^(3+)co-doped phos.hors.independently,phas. confirmation and morphological examination were accomplis.ed us.ng the X-ray diffraction technique and s.anning electron micros.ope analys.s.X-ray photoelectron s.ectros.opy analys.s.s.ows.the charge s.ate and exis.ence of lanthanides.and *** lumines.ence emis.ions.of green and red colour were detected for the s.nthes.zed *** changes.in the upconverted emis.ion intens.ties.and colour output pertaining to the change of the lanthanide hos. matrix along with dopants.were inves.igated for the prepared *** the upconvers.on lumines.ence,erbium-doped s.mples.exhibit a predominance of red emis.ion while holmium-doped s.mples.dis.lay a prevalence of green *** rare-earth Er/Ho doped KYbF4s.ows.s.rong red emis.ion compared to other ***_(4):Yb,Er/Ho exhibits.relatively s.gnificant green upconve rs.on emis.ions.while Yb,Er-doped KGdF_(4)hos. dis.lays.a 10-fold increas. in green/red emis.ion ratio with an increas. in the input power of 20-780 *** photolumines.ence s.udies.and decay curve analys.s.were carried out us.ng UV light excitation for the developed phos.hors.A higher lifetime of 2.2 ms.was.meas.red for the downs.ifting red emis.ion in the Ho doped KYbF_(4)*** s.udy s.gges.s.a potential for colour tunability in the upconvers.on and downs.ifting emis.ions.through hos. modifications.to the fluoride phos.hor.

Magnitude and intens.ty of the repercus.ion pres.urized them to unders.and s.s.ainable and s.cially res.ons.ble cons.mption that has.a direct bearing on the pos.ible s.lution to the problems. Hence, this.paper attempts.to inves.igate the effect of age, education, income and gender on s.cially res.ons.ble cons.mption behavior of Indian cons.mers.and whether the advertis.ments.with s.cial res.ons.bility theme work better among s.cially res.ons.ble cons.mers. The exploratory s.udy has.been executed on a s.mple of 250 res.ondents.from Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Uttar Prades. and Bihar by adopting convenience s.mpling method. Dual antidiabetic and antihypertens.ve activity of fucoxanthin is.lated from s.rgas.um wightii Greville in in vivo rat model

In a previous.s.udy from our laboratory, fucoxanthin purified from brown algae, s.rgas.um wightii Greville has.found to exhibit antioxidant activity and inhibition of angiotens.n-I-converting enzyme(ACE)in vitro. The pres.nt s.udy aims.in unders.anding the protective effect of fucoxanthin purified from s. wightii agains. diabetes.with hypertens.on in in vivo. Diabetes.and hypertens.on were induced in rat by s.reptozotocin and s.dium chloride treatment, res.ectively. In diabetes.with hypertens.on rat, the blood pres.ure was.increas.d along with hyperglycemia. Adminis.ration of fucoxanthin s.gnificantly reduced the blood pres.ure and ACE activity in diabetes.with hypertens.on rat. Furthermore, adminis.ration of fucoxanthin s.gnificantly reduced the hyperglycemic s.ate. The activity of various.enzymes.in the liver(hexokinas., glucos.-6-phos.hate dehydrogenas., glucos.-6-phos.hatas. and fructos.-1,6-phos.hatas.)and s.rum(creatine kinas.)were normalized to that of control level. The level of glycogen, glycoprotein component and lipid profile were equivalent to control level by fucoxanthin adminis.ration in diabetes.with hypertens.on rats. Fucoxanthin ameliorated the oxidative s.res. by pres.rving the endogenous.antioxidant levels.in diabetes.with hypertens.on rats. Als., the pancreatic his.ological integrity was.s.milar to that of control level in diabetes.with hypertens.on rats.by fucoxanthin treatment. Altogether, fucoxanthin s.owed dual antidiabetic and antihypertens.ve activity in vivo.

In vitro bioactivity and phytochemical analys.s.of two marine macro-algae

Objective: To evaluate the in vitro bioactivity and phytochemical analys.s.of two marine macro-algae viz., s.rgas.um wightii (s. wightii) and Gracilaria verrucos. (G. verrucos.). Methods. The marine macro-algae were collected from Gulf of Mannar (latitude 8°55'–9°15' N and longitude 78°–79°16' E), India. The collected marine macro-algae were s.ade dried, powdered and extracted in s.xhlet apparatus.with acetone, methanol, chloroform and petroleum ether s.parately. Antimicrobial as.ay was.performed agains. nine bacterial pathogens.(is.lated from infected ornamental fis.) and two fungal s.rains. The extracts.were further tes.ed for anti-hemolytic activity following s.andard protocol. The methanol extracts.were als. tes.ed for its.anti-cancer property agains. human AGs.cell line. Res.lts. High antibacterial activity was.dis.layed by the petroleum ether extract of G. verrucos. agains. Micrococcus.s.. ((31.5 ± 6.5) mm)Maximum [(21.5 ± 1.0) mm] anti-fungal activity was.exerted by the methanol extracts.of s. wightii and G. verrucos. agains. Candida s.. Acetone extract of G. verrucos. produced better anti-hemolytic activity (96.47% ± 0.31%) than other tes.ed extracts. Methanol extract of both s.aweeds.failed to produce any anti-cancer activity agains. human AGs.cell line. Quantitative phytochemical analys.s.revealed elevated levels.of alkaloids.(56 mg/g), s.ponins.(44.5 mg/g), flavonoids.(500 mg/g) and phenols.(220 mg/g) in G. verrucos. when compared to s. wightii. Conclus.ons. The tes.ed macro-algae are good s.urce of bioactive compounds. and G. verrucos. dis.layed better activity than s. wightii and could be explored further.

Comparing the Effectivenes. of Motor Control Exercis.s.vers.s.Mckenzie Exercis.s.for Work Related Back Pain

Background: Work related low back pain has.been identified as.a one of the mos. cos.ly dis.rders.among the worldwide working population. This.condition was.highly prevalent that approximately 85% patients.having back pain were brought on by prolonged s.tting. With the rapid development of modern technology, s.tting has.now become the mos. common pos.ure in today’s.work- place. Idea of us.ng motor control learning approach provides.the optimal control and coordination of the s.ine. The McKenzie evaluation was.received us.ng repeated movements.and s.s.ained pos.tions. Therefore high quality randomized clinical trial was.required to compare the effectivenes. of thes. treatments.for work related low back pain. Objectives. To compare the effectivenes. of motor control exercis.s.and McKenzie exercis.s.in reducing pain and dis.bility in work related low back pain. Method: The s.udy included 40 s.bjects.with work related low back pain due to prolonged s.tting. They were randomly allocated into two groups.(Group A and Group B). Group A was.treated with motor control exercis.s.and group B was.treated with McKenzie exercis.s.for 4 weeks. Res.lts. Both the groups.have s.own s.atically s.gnificant improvement in vas.with p s.n was.done after the 4 weeks. the percentage of improvement in group A was.much higher than Group B. Conclus.on: The s.udy concluded that motor control exercis.s.have s.own s.atically and clinically s.gnificant improvement in reducing pain and dis.bility when compared to McKenzie exercis.s.among work related low back pain s.bjects.
