Photooxidative removal of pharmaceuticals and organic dyes is an effective way to eliminate growing micropollutants. However, photooxidation often results in byproducts as secondary hazardous substances such as phytotoxins. Herein, we found that photooxidation of common antibiotic tetracycline hydrochloride(TCH) over a metal-free 8-hydroxyquinoline(8-HQ) functionalized carbon nitride(CN) photocatalyst significantly reduces the TCH phytotoxic effect. The phytotoxicity test of photocatalytic treated TCH-solution evaluated towards seed growth of Cicer arietinum plant model endowed natural root and shoot *** study highlights the conceptual insights in designing of metal-free photocatalyst for environmental remediation.

Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is a progressive inflammatory disorder of the pancreas. It is predominantly idiopathic (with an unknown cause) in India and mostly due to alcohol in the West. Diabetes that occur secondary to chronic pancreatitis (T3c Diabetes) is often brittle, and is difficult to attain normoglycemia with conventional treatment requiring multiple doses of insulin. Mild and severe model of CP was induced in mice by repeated intraperitoneal injections of cerulein and L-arginine respectively with an intent to study islet dysfunction and develop therapeutic strategy in animal models of CP. Dietary intervention of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) was tested in both the models of CP for its beneficial effects on insulin secretory functions. Pancreata collected upon euthanasia were used to study alterations in the morphology of pancreatic parenchyma and inflammation by staining with H&E and fibrotic changes by Masson’s trichrome and picrosirius staining. Insulin secretory functions of islets were evaluated to test the efficacy of the dietary intervention on β-cell functions. Intraperitoneal glucose tolerance test was performed to monitor the glucose homeostasis before and after the dietary intervention. Both the models resulted in CP with dispersed acini, inflammation and fibrosis. The loss of acini and extent of fibrosis was more in L-arginine model. 2-fold improvement in glucose-stimulated insulin secretory functions of islets was observed with 0.5% EGCG dietary intervention in cerulein model of CP and 1.6-fold in L-arginine model of CP. A further improvement in insulin secretion by 3.2-fold was observed with additional dietary supplements like N-acetyl cysteine, curcumin in combination with EGCG. Our results thus demonstrate and highlight the therapeutic potential of dietary green tea (EGCG) supplementation in reversing islet dysfunction and improving glucose homeostasis in experimental chronic pancreatitis in mice.

Argon plasma was generated by DC magnetron sputtering discharge at a constant input power and sputtering pressure. The emission spectra of the argon plasma, in a region of 300 nm to 800 nm, were recorded with three different base pressures （4×10^-4 Pa, 13×10^-4 Pa and 26×10^-4 Pa）. From the spectra, the Boltzmann temperature （TB） was calculated by using the atomic Boltzmann plot method. The intensity ratio of N and N2 lines provided the information on the changes in the degree of dissociation of nitrogen molecules. The obtained results showed that with the increase in base pressure the dissociation of N2 increased and the Boltzmann temperature （TB） decreased.

The grid-connected or standalone PV central inverter architecture is comprised of several PV modules which are connected in different ways to form the PV *** power generation capability of the PV array is primarily affected by partial shading conditions(PsC).Due to PsCs,the power output of the PV array is dramatically reduced,and mismatching losses are induced in the PV *** on the extent of these problems,multiple peaks also appear in the power-voltage(P-V)curve,which makes it very difficult to track the global maximum power point(GMPP).The main objective of this research paper is to model and simulate the series(s),series-parallel(sP),bridge-link(BL),honey-comb(HC),total-cross-tied(TCT)and proposed triple-tied(TT)solar PV array configurations under various partial shading *** performance of all PV configurations is evaluated under a uniform approach,considering eight different shading *** performance of the considered PV configurations is analyzed in terms of their mismatching power losses,fill factors,efficiency,global maximum power points(GMPPs),local maximum power points(LMPPs),voltages and currents at GMPPs,open circuit voltage and short circuit *** above-mentioned PV configurations are modeled and simulated in a Matlab/simulink environment by considering the KC-200GT module parameters.

Maximum power extraction from the photovoltaic(PV) system plays a critical role in increasing efficiency duringpartial shading conditions (PsCs). It directly reduces the outputpower of the PV array. There are different factors, such as bypassdiode configuration, array size, array configuration, shade intensity, environmental conditions etc., affecting the performance ofthe solar photovoltaic panel. Furthermore, series (s), parallel (P),series-parallel (sP), total-cross-tied (TCT), bridge-linked (BL),and honey-comb (HC), etc., are the various configurations to dealwith the mentioned issues. But these PV array configurations alsohave drawbacks, such as low dispersion factor, mismatch losses,and line losses under partial shading conditions. To overcomethese issues, the reconfiguration of the PV array is one of theeffective approaches. A comprehensive study of literature showsthat PV modules are connected under different reconfiguredschemes namely sudoku, Optimal sudoku, Magic square, zigzag, skyscraper, etc. In this paper, a comprehensive review isperformed to highlight the advantages and limitations of eachscheme. This study can be used to address the advancementin this area since some parameter comparisons are made at theend of every technique, which might be a prominent base-rule forpicking the most promising reconfiguration technique for furtherresearch.

A signifcant challenge in the progress and development of Building-Integrated-Photovoltaic(B-I-PV)systems is concerned with the extraction of maximum power from PV *** PV system archtecture is an essential feature to extract the maximum *** conventional PV-centralinverter architecture consists of various connections among the PV modules,which are sensitive to shading effects and pro-duces mismatching power loss under partial shading conditions(PsCs),Hence,photovoltaic-distributed-maximum power point tracking(PV-D-MPPT)architecture has been proposed to extract the maximum ***-1 D-MPPT architecture,the output terminals of DC-DC converters are connected either in series or parallel *** main limitation of the series configuration in open-loop MPPT control is the crosscoupling *** of cross-coupling effects,the maximum-power-point(M-P-P)operation of shaded PV modules is lost under *** lost in M-P-P operation of shaded PV module also affects the unshaded modules M-P-P *** crosscoupling ffeets,the DC-DC converters are consuming the power instead of delivering to the *** the research activity,there are hardly any papers presenting a clear,comprehensive and mathematical analysis on the existence of cross-couplings in PV string-integrated-converters(s-1-Cs).This article presents a mathematical analysis and also explains the conditions for the existent of cross-coupling *** experimental results also validate with the mathematically analysed *** article also discusses the modeling of the two-diode model of PV module,design of boost type s-1C,and the Perturb and Observe(P&O)MPPT algorithm implementation.

Ionic Liquids Assisted synthesis of ZnO Nanostructures:Controlled size,Morphology and Antibacterial Properties

systematic analysis about the exploitation of imidazolium based ionic liquids （ILs）, [BMIM] BF4 [ILl], [EMIM] BF4 ILL2] and [BMIM] PF6 [IL3] as the morphological template on the basic sol-gel method adopted synthesis of nanostructured zinc oxide （ZnO） is presented. X-ray diffraction （XRD）, particle size analysis （PsA） and scanning electron microscopy （sEM） have been employed for the characterization of structure and morphology of the synthesized ZnO particles. Well-defined capsule like shaped morphology with lower nanosize is observed for the ZnO nanoparticles with ILl than those with IL2 and IL3. This confirms that ILl served as an effective templating material due to their unique properties. Especially the effective aggregation of ZnO particles with a self-organized frame of ILl was the essential factor to produce the lower nanosized ZnO with capsule shaped structure. The synthesized ZnO samples with IL2 and IL3 fabricated the flake like shaped and rod like shaped morphologies in the range of nanoscale. The formed ZnO nanoparticles with IL2 exhibit higher nanosize than the ZnO nanoparticles produced by ILl, owing to shorter length of alkyl group in its cation which restricts steric effect and permits the nanoparticles to grow longer. Even though IL3 produced the discrete ZnO nanorods, the hydrophobic nature of IL3 created the higher nanosize than the ZnO nanoparticles formed by other two ionic liquids. Antibacterial properties of the synthesized ZnO nanostructures were investigated against staphylococcus aureus （gram positive） and Escherichia coil （gram negative） bacteria by Agar diffusion test method. Microbial experiments indicate that the synthesized ZnO samples show a wide spectrum of antimicrobial activities and performed better against s. aureus than E. coil with the same concentration of ZnO.

Kinetic theory has been employed to investigate the magnetized plasma-sheath structure and its characteristics in the presence of more than one species of negatively charged particles:hot electrons,cold electrons,and negative *** cold electrons and negative ions are considered to obey a Maxwellian distribution,whereas the hot electrons follow a truncated Maxwellian *** Bohm sheath condition has been extended for the case of more than one species of negatively charged particles,in which the concentration of hot electrons has a crucial role in achieving the Bohm *** thermal motion of hot electrons is much higher compared to cold electrons and negative ions,such that the variation of hot electron concentrations and the temperature ratio of hot to cold electrons play a key role in the determination of the plasma-sheath parameters:particle densities,electrostatic potential,the flow of positive ions towards the wall,and sheath *** have estimated the deviation of the resultant drift velocity of positive ions on the plane perpendicular to the wall from the parallel component at the presheath–sheath *** is found that the deviation between the two velocity components increases with an increase in the obliqueness of the magnetic ***,the results obtained from the kinetic trajectory simulation model are compared with the results obtained using a fluid model;the results are qualitatively similar,although the potential varies by less than 4%in terms of the magnitude at the wall.

The target of this paper is the performance-based diagnostics of a gas turbine for the automated early detection of components malfunctions. The paper proposes a new combination of multiple methodologies for the performance-based diagnostics of single and multiple failures on a two-spool engine. The aim of this technique is to combine the strength of each methodology and provide a high success rate for single and multiple failures with the presence of measurement malfunctions. A combination of KF(Kalman Filter), ANN(Artificial Neural Network) and FL(Fuzzy Logic) is used in this research in order to improve the success rate, to increase the flexibility and the number of failures detected and to combine the strength of multiple methods to have a more robust solution. The Kalman filter has in his strength the measurement noise treatment, the artificial neural network the simulation and prediction of reference and deteriorated performance profile and the fuzzy logic the categorization flexibility, which is used to quantify and classify the failures. In the area of GT(Gas Turbine) diagnostics, the multiple failures in combination with measurement issues and the utilization of multiple methods for a 2-spool industrial gas turbine engine has not been investigated *** paper reports the key contribution of each component of the methodology and brief the results in the quantification and classification success rate. The methodology is tested for constant deterioration and increasing noise and for random deterioration. For the random deterioration and nominal noise of 0.4%, in particular, the quantification success rate is above 92.0%, while the classification success rate is above 95.1%. Moreover, the speed of the data processing(1.7 s/sample)proves the suitability of this methodology for online diagnostics.
