We have presented a comparative account of the high frequency prospective as well as noise behaviors of wide-bandgap 4H-siC and 6H-siC based on different structures of IMPATT diodes at sub-millimeter-wave frequencies up to 2.18 THz. The computer simulation study establishes the feasibility of the siC based IMPATT diode as a high power density terahertz source. The most significant feature lies in the noise behavior of the siC IMPATT diodes. It is noticed that the 6H-siC DDR diode shows the least noise measure of 26.1 dB as compared to that of other structures. Further, it is noticed that the noise measure of the siC IMPATT diode is less at a higher operating frequency compared to that at a lower operating frequency.

Ionization rate coefficients and saturation drift velocities for electrons and holes are the vital material parameters in determining the performance of an IMPATT diode.We have performed a sensitivity analysis of the millimeter wave characteristics of 4H-siC and 6H-siC IMPATT diodes with reference to the above mentioned material data and an operating frequency of 220 GHz.The effect of a small variation in the ionization rate and drift velocity on the device characteristics like break down voltage,efficiency,noise measure and power output has been presented here.

Laparoscopic management of remnant gall bladder with stones: Lessons from a tertiary care centre's experience

Objective:Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is currently the gold standard for treating symptomatic gallstone disease.Despite its success,approximately 10%of patients may experience persistent biliary symptoms,leading to the post-cholecystectomy syndrome.A remnant gallbladder with cystic duct or bile duct stones is one of the causes of this syndrome.The objective of this study was to shed light on the clinical manifestations,evaluation,therapeutic strategies,and outcomes associated with laparoscopic management of symptomatic remnant gallbladders.Methods:This was a retrospective study,conducted over a five-year period(January 2017 to December 2022)at Apollo Hospitals in south India.All patients who underwent laparoscopic completion cholecystectomy for a remnant gall bladder were included.The following data were collected:patient demographics,symptoms,preoperative investigations,intraoperative details and post operative outcomes.Results:In total,36 patients were included and analysed.The majority of patients were male(25,69.4%),with a mean age of 50.7±12.1 years.The most common presentation was pain in the upper abdomen or right upper quadrant region(24,66.7%).The laparoscopic approach was attempted in all patients,with a success rate of 94.4%.Two patients required conversion to open surgery.Cholecystoenteric fistula to the colon was observed in one patient.Choledocholithiasis was observed in 7 patients(19.4%),and stone clearance was successfully achieved using endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography in all patients preoperatively.Conclusion:Incomplete gall bladder removal either intentionally or unintentionally leaves a remnant gall bladder that is at risk for stone formation and infection.Patients who have this clinical entity with symptoms require a redo or complete cholecystectomy,a complex procedure associated with certain risks.This study highlights the feasibility and safety of laparoscopic completion cholecystectomy for the management of remnant gallbladder with cystic duct or bile duct stones.

In this paper,a self-triggered consensus filtering is developed for a class of discrete-time distributed filtering systems.Different from existing event-triggered filtering,the self-triggered one does not require to continuously judge the trigger condition at each sampling instant and can save computational burden while achieving good state estimation.The triggering policy is presented for pre-computing the next execution time for measurements according to the filter’s own data and the latest released data of its neighbors at the current time.However,a challenging problem is that data will be asynchronously transmitted within the filtering network because each node self-triggers independently.Therefore,a co-design of the self-triggered policy and asynchronous distributed filter is developed to ensure consensus of the state estimates.Finally,a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the consensus filtering approach.

We examine the structural properties and half-life decay of Ra isotopes within the axially deformed Relativistic Mean-Field（RMF）theory with NL3 force parameters.We work out the binding energy（BE）,RMs radii,two-neutron separation energies（s（2n））,and some other observables.The results are in good agreement with the finite-range droplet model（FRDM）and experimental results.Considering the possibility of neutron magic number,theα-decay and cluster decay half-lives of Ra isotopes are calculated systematically using the Q-values obtained from the RMF formalism.These decay half-life calculations are carried out by taking three different empirical formulae.The calculated decay half-lives are found to be highly sensitive to the choice of Q-values.Possible shell or sub-shell closures are found at daughter nuclei with N=128 and N=126 when alpha and 8Be,12C,18O respectively are emitted from Ra isotopes.Though the cluster radioactivity is affected by the shell closure of parent and daughter,a long half-life indicates the stability of the parent,and a small parent half-life indicates that the shell stability of the daughter against decay.

This research is focused on a highly effective and untapped feature called gammatone frequency cepstral coefficients(GFCC)for the detection of COVID-19 by using the nature-inspired meta-heuristic algorithm of deer hunting optimization and artificial neural network(DHO-ANN).The noisy crowdsourced cough datasets were collected from the public domain.This research work claimed that the GFCC yielded better results in terms of COVID-19 detection as compared to the widely used Mel-frequency cepstral coefficient in noisy crowdsourced speech corpora.The proposed algorithm's performance for detecting COVID-19 disease is rigorously validated using statistical measures,F1 score,confusion matrix,specificity,and sensitivity parameters.Besides,it is found that the proposed algorithm using GFCC performs well in terms of detecting the COVID-19 disease from the noisy crowdsourced cough dataset,COUGHVID.Moreover,the proposed algorithm and undertaken feature parameters have improved the detection of COVID-19 by 5%compared to the existing methods.

Background:Lymphatic filariasis is targeted for elimination in India through mass drug administration(MDA)with diethylcarbamazine(DEC)combined with albendazole(ABZ).For the strategy to be effective,>65%of those living in endemic areas must be covered by and compliant to MDA.Post the MDA 2011 campaign in the endemic district of Odisha,we conducted a survey to assess:(i)the filariasis knowledge in the community,(ii)the coverage and compliance of MDA from the community perspective,and(iii)factors affecting compliance,as well as the operational issues involved in carrying out MDA activities from the drug distributor’s perspective.Methods:A sample of 691 participants-both male and female,aged two years or above-were selected through multistage stratified sampling and interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire.Additionally,drug distributors and the medical officers in charge of the MDA were also interviewed to understand some of the operational issues encountered during MDA.Results:Ninety-nine percent of the study participants received DEC and ABZ tablets during MDA,of which only just above a quarter actually consumed the drugs.The cause of non-compliance was mostly due to fear of side effects,lack of awareness of the benefits of MDA,and non-attendance of health staff in the villages.Lack of adequate training of drug distributors and poor health communication activities before the MDA campaign commenced and the absence of follow-up by health workers following MDA were a few of the operational difficulties encountered during the MDA campaign.Conclusion:Currently MDA is restricted to the distribution of drugs only and the key issues of implementation in compliance,health education,managing side effects,and logistics are not given enough attention.It is therefore essential to address the issues linked to low compliance to make the program more efficient and achieve the goal of filariasis elimination.

Pixel value differencing(PVD)steganography techniques produce imperceptible stego-images.Most PVD-based techniques have a fkll-off boundary problem(FOBP).To avoid FOB£a steganographic scheme is presented that combines the quotient value difference(QVD)with pixel value correlation(PVC).It performs data embedding in two stages on 3 x 3 size pixel blocks.The first stage of the embedding procedure performs QVD and remainder substitution on five pixels.These five pixels are central pixel and it*s neighbours on the left,right,upper,and lower sides.Based on the new values of these five pixels,the PVC embedding procedure is applied on the remaining four corner pixels of the block.The experimental results are found to be improved.The hiding capacity is high that is 3.92 bits per byte with an acceptable peak signal-to-noise ratio value.A security check was performed using two tests:(i)a regular-singular(Rs)test,(ii)a pixel difference histogram(PDH)test.The experimental outcomes demonstrate that PDH curves of the stego-images do not have a zigzag shape,that means the PDH test could not detect this steganography technique.Furthermore,the Rs curves show that the Rs test could not detect this steganography technique.

The Urban Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (UVANET) provides non-safety applications like media sharing, internet service, file transfer, gaming, and so on. Routing plays an important role in providing better services to the users in UVANET. In this paper, a novel routing protocol is proposed for UVANET to support non-safety applications. We consider a non-safety application wherein the drivers and passengers of different parking lots can play multi-player games with each other. To play the games smoothly, the game data should reach the destination in a minimum time. simulation results show that when the vehicle density in the city area is high, the proposed protocol meets the end-to-end delay tolerance of 100 ms. Finally, an experiment is performed to validate the proposed routing protocol by running a simple puzzle game in a UVANET prototype designed in an indoor laboratory environment and in an outdoor environment.
