Introduction: Medical literature shows consistent data on the use of botulinum toxin for the treatment of drooling, especially in patients with neurological disorder. However, any trial evaluated the reduction of sialorrhea through laryngotracheoscopy. Objective: To evaluate the reduction of salivation and aspiration in children with cerebral palsy submitted to intraparotid injection of botulinum toxin. Methods: A prospective cohort study including 31 pediatric patients with cerebral palsy who complained of sialorrhea and were submitted to an intraparotid injection of botulinum toxin type A. It was analysed the reduction of the number of bibs and the amount of saliva in the larynx and trachea through a laryngotracheoscopic examination. Results: There was a reduction in the number of bibs from 7.35 to 4 after application of BoNT/A, with p-value Conclusion: Application of botulinum toxin type A is a good method for temporary control of salivation in children with neurological disorders.

Nitrate is the primary water-soluble macronutrient essential for plant growth that is converted from excess fish feeds,fish effluents,and degrading biomaterials on the aquaponic pond floor,and when aquacultural malpractices occur,large amounts of it retain in the water system causing increase rate in eutrophication and toxifies fish and aquaculture *** nitrate sensor prototypes still require performing the additional steps of water sample deionization and dilution and were constructed with expensive *** response to the challenge of sensor enhancement and aquaponic water quality monitoring,this study developed sensitive,repeatable,and reproducible screen-printed graphite electrodes on polyvinyl chloride and parchment paper substrates with silver as electrode material and 60:40 graphite powder:nail polish formulated conductive ink for electrical traces,integrated with 9-gene genetic expression model as a function of peak anodic current and electrochemical test time for nitrate concentration prediction that is embedded into low-power Arduino EsP32 for in situ nitrate sensing in aquaponic pond *** sPE electrical traces were designed on the two types of *** electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray confirmed the electrode surface *** cyclic voltammetry using 10 to 100 mg/L KNO3 and water from three-depth regions of the actual pond established the electrochemical test time(10.5 s)and electrode potential(0.135 V)protocol necessary to produce peak current that corresponds to the strength of nitrate ions during *** findings from in situ testing revealed that the proposed sensors have strong linear predictions(R2=0.968 MsE=1.659 for nsPEv and R2=0.966 MsE=4.697 for nsPEp)in the range of 10 to 100 mg/L and best detection limit of 3.15μg/L,which are comparable to other sensors of more complex *** developed three-electrode electrochemical nitrate sensor confirms that it is reliable for bot

Despite their potential for providing important information for paleobiogeography,studies using ostracod assemblages compiled from global datasets have been scarce so *** this study,the paleogeographic implications of the relationship between different ostracod assemblages are analyzed and discussed for the Albian and *** compiled an ostracod dataset at the genus level,with 168 genera for the Albian and 174 for the Cenomanian,to which different multivariate statistical methods of grouping were *** affinity between different ostracod assemblages from different regions allowed for the delineation of 30 operational geographic units(OGUs)for the Albian,and 32 OGUs for the Cenomanian,grouped in three paleobiogeographic units(PBUs;Megatethys,Persia,and Austral)and one sub-unit(PBsU;Maghreb associated to the Megatethys).The Maghreb PBsU showed minor changes between the Albian and *** relationship among the OGUs grouped in each PBU is related to different factors,such as eustatic sea level events,similar climatic zones,and marine current circulation patterns.A relationship was observed between the Gabon and Nigeria OGUs with the Persia PBU,which suggests a direct east—west connection between them during the *** affinity observed in the Austral PBU between the south American,south African,and Australian regions during the Albian can be explained by their relative geographic isolation due to the Walvis Ridge *** eventual flooding of this barrier led to the relationship observed between the sE Brazilian and Bolivian regions with the Austral ***,the data also suggested that the separation of the Indian subcontinent from the Austral PBU took place during the Cenomanian.

The application of a gate voltage to control the superconducting current flowing through a nanoscale superconducting constriction,named as gate-controlled supercurrent(GCs),has raised great interest for fundamental and technological *** gain a deeper understanding of this effect and develop superconducting technologies based on it,the material and physical parameters crucial for the GCs effect must be ***-down fabrication protocols should also be optimized to increase device scalability,although studies suggest that top-down fabricated devices are more resilient to show a ***,we investigate gated superconducting nanobridges made with a top-down fabrication process from thin films of the noncentrosymmetric superconductor niobium rhenium with varying ratios of the constituents(NbRe).Unlike other devices previously reported and made with a top-down approach,our NbRe devices systematically exhibit a GCs effect when they were fabricated from NbRe thin films with small grain size and etched in specific *** observations pave the way for the realization of top-down-made GCs devices with high *** results also imply that physical parameters like structural disorder and surface physical properties of the nanobridges,which can be in turn modified by the fabrication process,are crucial for a GCs observation,providing therefore also important insights into the physics underlying the GCs effect.

silymarin, from the fruit of silybum marianum, is known for its hepatoprotective action. The aim of this study was to review the mechanisms of action of the silymarin phytocomplex to expand the possibilities for its application in human health. The search for published articles was carried out on the CAPEs Journals Portal platform, which covers worldwide scientific databases. Publications from 2010 to 2022 were included. Of the 311 articles retrieved, 21 were included. The articles discuss the diversity of silymarin’s applications and the possibility of optimizing its bioavailability using drug delivery systems. silymarin shows promise in numerous diseases, such as liver, kidney, cardiovascular, respiratory and others. Its antiviral action has been demonstrated in studies and silymarin has the potential to be used as a complementary therapy in the treatment of many diseases, with the expectation that, in the future, it will be used in therapeutic protocols for exclusive use.

Based on reports that variables related to photosynthesis(net assimilatory ratio and chloroplast pigments)are more plastic than the morphological and biochemical variables in a climax tropical species,Cariniana estrellensis,under contrasting irradiance,we hypothesised that plasticity of gas exchange variables is higher in relation to growth,biochemical and anatomical *** that were 14 months old were subjected to200 up to 2000 lmol m^(-2)s^(-1) of photo synthetically active radiation(PAR)for 140 *** increased up to1400 lmol m^(-2)s^(-1)PAR and then decreased at 2000 lmol m^(-2)s^(-1) PAR(full sunlight).This was related to the rate of photosynthesis(A)which showed the same tendency as photosystem Ⅱ performance index(PI_(ABs)).The greater thickness of the secondary xylem at 1400 lmol m^(-2)s^(-1) PAR indicated a higher water conductance *** decrease in specific leaf area,elongation of mesophyll cells,and increase in stomatal density observed at higher irradiances were associated with higher leaf fructose and sucrose *** concluded that the better growth in partial shade was due to higher photosynthetic *** the other hand,photosynthesis was inhibited equally in full sun and deep *** high adjustment capacity of *** to wide amplitudes of irradiance was provided by greater plasticity of gas exchange variables in relation to growth,anatomical,and biochemical variables.

Liver hydatidosis is the most common clinical presentation of cystic echinococcosis(CE).Ultrasonographic mass surveys have demonstrated the true prevalence,including the asymptomatic characteristic of the majority of cases,providing new insight into the natural history of the *** raises the question of whether to treat or not to treat these patients,due to the high and unsuspected prevalence of *** high rate of liver/lung frequencies of cyst localization,the autopsy findings,and the involution of cysts demonstrated in long time follow-up of asymptomatic carriers contribute to this *** decision to treat an asymptomatic patient by surgery,albendazole,or puncture aspiration injection and reaspiration or to wait and watch,is based on conflicting reports in the literature,the lack of complications in untreated patients over time,and the spontaneous disappearance and involution of *** these points contribute to difficulties of individual clinical *** patients should be informed of the reasons and the risks of watchful/waiting without treatment,the possibility of complications,and the risks of the other *** more information on the natural history of liver hydatidosis is acquired,selection of the best treatment will be come *** this knowledge it would be very difficult to establish definitive rules of *** present,it is possible to manage these patients over time and to wait for the best moment for *** studies must be conducted to achieve this objective.
