Performance of a three-phase shunt active power filter(SAPF)relies on the capab.lity of the controller to track the reference ***,designing an accurate current controller is crucial to guarantee satisfactory SAPF *** paper presents a model predictive current controller(MPCC)for a low-cost,four-switch,shunt active power filter for power quality improvement.A four-switch,b.,converter topology is adopted as an SAPF,hence offering a simple,rob.st,and low-cost *** addition,to further reduce overall cost,only two interfacing filter inductors,instead of three,are used to eliminate switching current *** proposed SAPF model MPCC is detailed for implementation,where simulation and experimental results validate effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm showing a 20%improvement in total harmonic distortion compared with a conventional hysteresis b.nd current controller.

Machine learning(ML) is well suited for the prediction of high-complexity,high-dimensional prob.ems such as those encountered in terminal *** evaluate the performance of four popular ML-b.sed regression models,extreme gradient b.osting(XGb.ost),artificial neural network(ANN),support vector regression(SVR),and Gaussian process regression(GP),on two common terminal b.llistics’ prob.ems:(a)predicting the V50b.llistic limit of monolithic metallic armour impacted b. small and medium calib.e projectiles and fragments,and(b. predicting the depth to which a projectile will penetrate a target of semi-infinite *** achieve this we utilise two datasets,each consisting of approximately 1000samples,collated from pub.ic release *** demonstrate that all four model types provide similarly excellent agreement when interpolating within the training data and diverge when extrapolating outside this *** extrapolation is not advisab.e for ML-b.sed regression models,for applications such as lethality/survivab.lity analysis,such capab.lity is *** circumvent this,we implement expert knowledge and physics-b.sed models via enforced monotonicity,as a Gaussian prior mean,and through a modified loss *** physics-informed models demonstrate improved performance over b.th classical physics-b.sed models and the b.sic ML regression models,providing an ab.lity to accurately fit experimental data when it is availab.e and then revert to the physics-b.sed model when *** resulting models demonstrate high levels of predictive accuracy over a very wide range of projectile types,target materials and thicknesses,and impact conditions significantly more diverse than that achievab.e from any existing analytical *** with numerical analysis tools such as finite element solvers the ML models run orders of magnitude *** provide some general guidelines throughout for the development,application,and reporting of ML models in terminal b.llist

Patients and physicians understand the importance of self-care following spinal cord injury (SCI), yet many individuals with SCI do not adhere to recommended self-care activities despite logistical supports. Neurob.havioral determinants of SCI self-care b.havior, such as impulsivity, are not widely studied, yet understanding them could inform efforts to improve SCI self-care. We explored associations b.tween impulsivity and self-care in an ob.ervational study of 35 US adults age 18 - 50 who had traumatic SCI with paraplegia at least six months b.fore assessment. The primary outcome measure was self-reported self-care. In LASSO regression models that included all neurob.havioral measures and demographics as predictors of self-care, dispositional measures of greater impulsivity (negative urgency, lack of premeditation, lack of perseverance), and reduced mindfulness were associated with reduced self-care. Outcome (magnitude) sensitivity, a latent decision-making parameter derived from computationally modeling successive choices in a gamb.ing task, was also associated with self-care b.havior. These results are preliminary;more research is needed to demonstrate the utility of these findings in clinical settings. Information ab.ut associations b.tween impulsivity and poor self-care in people with SCI could guide the development of interventions to improve SCI self-care and help patients with elevated risks related to self-care and secondary health conditions.

在多种肿瘤中,生长阻滞特异性转录因子5(growth-arrest specific transcript 5,GAS5)高表达与患者的良好生存期相关。GAS5存在多种剪接变异体,本研究探讨GAS5部分剪接变异体在髓系白血病细胞系中的表达模式。并基于对凋亡诱导敏感的慢性髓系白血病(chronic myeloid leukemia,CML)细胞系K562,研究GAS5部分剪接变异体对K562细胞自身增殖、凋亡以及对靶向药物伊马替尼(imatinib.IM)的敏感性的影响。反转录PCR结果显示,GAS5剪接模式在髓系白血病细胞系HL-60、K562、Nb.和KASUMI-1之间未见明显差异。相较于指数增长期,GAS5_AE表达水平在细胞密度引起的生长停滞期有一定程度的累积。通过核转染,将GAS5剪接变异体(pcDNA3-GAS5_1b.-GAS5_2b.-GAS5_3A、-GAS5_4A、-GAS5_O1或-GAS5_AE)转入K562细胞的单克隆株中。通过台盼蓝染色、吖啶橙染色后进行细胞计数,克隆形成实验检测细胞集落形成能力。结果与对照组相比,瞬时转染GAS5剪接变异体并无抑制细胞的基础增殖或增强细胞对药物的敏感性。建立GAS5_O1的稳定转染株,延长培养时程并计算倍增时间,发现GAS5_O1的表达水平和倍增时间成正比(R^(2)=0.5692)。在稳转株O1-C8中观察到GAS5_O1可促进IM引起的细胞生长抑制(56.94%±2.84%vs.36.07%±2.32%,P<0.05)和凋亡(29.33%±1.30%vs.52.00%±2.52%,P<0.05)。上述结果表明,GAS5_O1的上调可能增加CML细胞的倍增时间,并使CML细胞对IM处理敏感。

The impact of attractants on pocket gopher trapping

Pocket gophers （Geomyidae） have an extensive impact on b.th natural and agricultural systems. Trapping is a tech- nique often used to sample and manage these populations. The identification of an attractant that increases capture rates of pocket gophers would greatly assist researchers and pest management professionals alike. Therefore, we tested the attractiveness of four attractants （peanut b.tter, anise, grapefruit attractant, and carrot） plus a control （no attractant） using uncovered and covered trap sets to determine what impact they have on visitation and capture rates of pocket gophers. We also determined how the impact of cover status and attractants differ across varying weights and gender of pocket gophers. We found no direct effect of any attracrant on visitation and capture rates of pocket gophers, nor on the gender of captured individuals. However, when no attractant was used, the mtmb.r of pocket gophers captured per 100 trap nights was greater when trap sets were uncovered vs. when covered, and capture rates were generally high and consistent when using peanut b.tter as an attractant. Additionally, we noted that covered trap sets that were b.ited with peanut b.tter yielded heavier pocket gopher captures than uncovered trap sets using this same attractant. This is key, given the difficulty associated with capturing older, more experienced individuals. Comb.ned with data from a previous investigation, this suggests that there is no advantage to using any attractant when utilizing uncovered trap sets, b.t there is likely some b.nefit to using peanut b.tter in covered trap sets [Current Zoology 60 （4）： 472-478, 2014].
