Vacuum press drying studies on two fast-growing Indian wood species

Two fast-growing Indian species, Melia composita Benth. and Eucalyptus tereticornis Sm., which have different sets of physical properties, were dried together in a vacuum press dryer(VPD) under two drying conditions,i.e., above boiling point(ABP) and below boiling point(BBP). The ABP and BBP conditions were maintained by keeping the temperature constant at 75 ℃ and maintaining two pressure levels: 300 mm of Hg(ABP) and 450 mm of Hg(BBP). In order to understand pressure conditions at the core during vacuum drying, a cylindrical brass pipe was inserted in both wood cores and attached with pressure gauges placed outside of the VPD. The results indicate that the Melia wood core attained equilibrium pressure immediately with the pressure of VPD, while Eucalyptus attained it very slowly, reaching equilibrium at later stages of drying when cracks and checks advanced to the *** drying rate was higher for Melia than Eucalyptus under both drying conditions. The drying rate of Melia(ABP) was higher than Melia(BBP), however, the drying rate for Eucalyptus(ABP) was not significantly different from the BBP drying rate.

Mobile ad hoc network(MANET)consists of a group of self-operated mobile nodes that form a network without considering predefined *** the network,each node poses less energy due to battery-operated sensor *** methods are devised for routing,but each method suffered from the energy *** paper proposes an energy-efficient multipath routing protocol for exploiting different routes between source and destination to mitigate energy *** key idea is to determine the optimal path from a set of paths available between the source and the target *** improve the security in routing protocol,the factors,like energy,trust,and mobility are considered as major ***,the trust is modeled by considering trust factors,like average encounter rate(AEr),successful cooperation frequency(SCF),direct trust,integrity factor,and forwarding rate ***,secure routing is performed between the nodes using the proposed Adaptive-Atom Whale Optimization algorithm(AdaptiveAWOA).The proposed (Adaptive-AWOA)is designed by incorporating the Adaptive concept in the Atom Whale Optimization algorithm(AWOA).The fitness function is newly modeled considering mobility,energy,and trust *** proposed AdaptiveAWOA outperformed the other methods with a minimal end-to-end delay of 0.009,maximal throughput of 85.802%and maximal packet delivery ratio(PDr)of 97.391%,respectively.

Sickle cell disease(SCD) is a common hemoglobinopathy which can affect multiple organ systems in the body. Within the digestive tract, the hepatobiliary system is most commonly affected in SCD. The manifestations range from benign hyperbilirubinemia to overt liver failure, with the spectrum of acute clinical presentations often referred to as "sickle cell hepatopathy". This is an umbrella term referring to liver dysfunction and hyperbilirubinemia due to intrahepatic sickling process during SCD crisis leading to ischemia, sequestration and cholestasis. In this review, we detail the pathophysiology, clinical presentation and biochemical features of various acute and chronic hepatobiliary manifestations of SCD and present and evaluate existing evidence with regards to management of this disease process. We also discuss recent advances and controversies such as the role of liver transplantation in sickle cell hepatopathy and highlight important questions in this field which would require further research. Our aim with this review is to help increase the understanding, aid in early diagnosis and improve management of this important disease process.

AIM To assess the effect of early vs late endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ErCP) on mortality and readmissions in acute cholangitis, using a nationally representative *** We used the 2014 National readmissions Database to identify adult patients hospitalized with acute cholangitis who underwent therapeutic ErCP within one week of admission. Early ErCP was defined as ErCP performed on the same day of admission or the next day(days 0 or 1, rCP was performed on days 2 to 7 of admission. Patients with severe cholangitis had any of the following additional diagnoses: Severe sepsis, septic shock, acute renal failure,acute respiratory failure, or thrombocytopenia. Multivariate logistic regression was used to calculate the adjusted odds of association of ErCP timing with inhospital mortality, 30-d mortality, and 30-d readmissions, controlling for age, sex,severe disease and *** Four thousand five hundred and seventy patients satisfied the inclusion criteria;with a mean age of 64.1 years. Of these, 66.6% had early ErCP, while 33.4% had late ErCP. Early ErCP was associated with lower in-hospital mortality [1.2% vs2.4%, adjusted odds ratio(aOr) = 0.50, 95%CI: 0.76-0.83, P = 0.001] and lower 30-d mortality(1.5% vs 3.3%, aOr = 0.48, 95%CI: 0.33-0.69, P red to the late ErCP group. Similarly, early ErCP was associated with lower 30-d readmissions(9.7% vs 15.1%, aOr = 0.58, 95%CI: 0.49-0.7, P ratified by severity of cholangitis, there was a similar benefit of early ErCP on all outcomes in those with and without severe cholangitis. BACKGrOUND Sickle cell disease(SCD) is a disorder that results in increased hospitalizations and higher mortality. Advances in management have resulted in increases in life expectancy and led to increasing awareness of sickle cell hepatopathy(SCH).However, its impact in patients on the natural history and outcomes of SCD is not known. Our study aims to describe the prevalence of extreme hyperbilirubinemia(EH), one form of SCH, its effect on morbidity and mortality,and correlations between sickle cell genotype and SCH type. We hypothesize that EH is associated with higher morbidity and *** To investigate the effects of EH on morbidity and mortality among patients with *** This retrospective cohort study was performed using a database of patients with SCD treated at Grady Memorial Hospital between May 2004 and January *** with EH(defined as total bilirubin above 13.0 mg/dL) were identified.
