Volatile sex pheromones are vital for sexual communication between males and females.Females of the American cockroach,Periplaneta americana,produce and emit two sex pheromone components,periplanone-A(PA)and periplanone-B(PB).Although PB is the major sex attractant and can attract males,how it interacts with PA in regulating sexual behaviors is still unknown.In this study,we found that in male cockroaches,PA counteracted PB attraction.We identified two odorant receptors(ORs),OR53 and OR100,as PB/PA and PA receptors,respectively.OR53 and OR100 were predominantly expressed in the antennae of sexually mature males,and their expression levels were regulated by the sex differentiation pathway and nutrition-responsive signals.Cellular localization of OR53 and OR100 in male antennae further revealed that two types of sensilla coordinate a complex two-pheromone-two-receptor pathway in regulating cockroach sexual behaviors.These findings indicate distinct functions of the two sex pheromone components,identify their receptors and possible regulatory mechanisms underlying the male-specific and age-dependent sexual behaviors,and can guide novel strategies for pest management.

Background:Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(iCCA)is a highly heteroge-neous and lethal hepatobiliary tumor with few therapeutic strategies.The metabolic reprogramming of tumor cells plays an essential role in the develop-ment of tumors,while the metabolic molecular classification of iCCA is largely unknown.Here,we performed an integrated multiomics analysis and metabolic classification to depict differences in metabolic characteristics of iCCA patients,hoping to provide a novel perspective to understand and treat iCCA.Methods:We performed integrated multiomics analysis in 116 iCCA samples,including whole-exome sequencing,bulk RNA-sequencing and proteome anal-ysis.Based on the non-negative matrix factorization method and the protein abundance of metabolic genes in human genome-scale metabolic models,the metabolic subtype of iCCA was determined.Survival and prognostic gene analy-ses were used to compare overall survival(OS)differences between metabolic subtypes.Cell proliferation analysis,5-ethynyl-2’-deoxyuridine(EdU)assay,colony formation assay,RNA-sequencing and Western blotting were performed to investigate the molecular mechanisms of diacylglycerol kinaseα(DGKA)in iCCA cells.Results:Three metabolic subtypes(S1-S3)with subtype-specific biomarkers of iCCA were identified.These metabolic subtypes presented with distinct prog-noses,metabolic features,immune microenvironments,and genetic alterations.The S2 subtype with the worst survival showed the activation of some special metabolic processes,immune-suppressed microenvironment and Kirsten ratsar-coma viral oncogene homolog(KRAS)/AT-rich interactive domain 1A(ARID1A)mutations.Among the S2 subtype-specific upregulated proteins,DGKA was further identified as a potential drug target for iCCA,which promoted cell proliferation by enhancing phosphatidic acid(PA)metabolism and activating mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)signaling.Conclusion:Viamultiomics analyses,we identified three metabolic subtypes of iCCA,revealing that the S2 subtype exhibited the poorest surviv

Driven by the double carbon policy,the iron and steel industry urgently needs to implement a new development concept to strengthen the use of solid waste resources from ironmaking and steelmaking and effectively enhance the economic benefits of recycling resources in order to reduce the accumulation of solid waste resources in the iron and steel industry.The iron and steel production process produces more than 600 million tons of solid waste annually,including metallurgical dust sludge,blast furnace slag and steel slag,etc.From the perspective of environmental friendliness,the efficient utilization of ironmaking and steelmaking solid waste resources through innovative cross-industry technologies is of great significance to the low-carbon,green and high-quality development goals of the iron and steel industry.

Oxidation of diclofenac by permanganate: Kinetics, products and effect of inorganic reductants

The large consumption and discharge of diclofenac(DCF) lead to its frequent detection in surface water and groundwater, posing great threats to humans and ecosystems. This study explored the oxidation kinetics of DCF by permanganate(Mn(Ⅶ)), and expounded the underlying reason for the unusual p Hdependency that was unclear in previous studies. The kinetics of DCF analogues(i.e., aromatic secondary amines) by Mn(Ⅶ) oxidation were comparatively investigated. Then, a tentative kinetic model involving the formation of an intermediate between Mn(Ⅶ) and DCF or its analogues was proposed to fit the p H-rate profile. Since DCF contained two chloro groups, and a carboxyl group which could be ionized by negative electrospray ionization, a precursor ionization scanning approach was used for the first time for detection of N-containing chlorinated oxidation products. New degradation pathways of DCF containing ring opening, carboxylation, carbonylation, electrophilic addition, hydroxylation and dehydrogenation were proposed based on the identified oxidation products. Moreover, it was demonstrated that the introduction of various reducing agents such as Mn(Ⅱ), Fe(Ⅱ) and bisulfite significantly improved the oxidation kinetics of DCF by Mn(Ⅶ). The positive effects of Mn(Ⅱ) and Fe(Ⅱ) were mainly attributed to the accelerated formation of MnO_(2)that acted as a catalyst or co-oxidizer contributing to DCF degradation. The presence of bisulfite caused two-stage kinetics, where a sharp drop of DCF concentration followed by a slowdown of DCF removal. In the first stage, potent reactive manganese species(e.g., Mn(Ⅲ), Mn(V), and Mn(VI)) and sulfate radical were generated during reaction of bisulfite with Mn(Ⅶ), whereas bisulfite was depleted fast due to excess Mn(Ⅶ) concentrations and the system became the Mn(Ⅶ)/MnO_(2)system in the second stage. These results provide new insight into reaction mechanism of DCF with Mn(Ⅶ)as well as propose a feasible strategy for enhancing the treatment of DCF contaminated water by Mn(Ⅶ).

Research status and development of extraction process of zinc-bearing dust from ironmaking and steelmaking—a critical review

Almost 29.57–38.46 million tons of zinc-bearing dust were produced in Chinese iron and steel enterprises annually.The recovery of Zn and other metals in zinc-bearing dust from ironmaking and steelmaking could improve economic efficiency.However,zinc-bearing dust was classified as hazardous waste,and the volatile metals(like Zn,Na,Pb,etc.)in zinc-bearing dust limited the direct reusing in a blast furnace.Therefore,the formation process,fundamental characteristics,and current extraction process of Zn from zinc-bearing dust,associated with thermodynamics and kinetics of the pyrometallurgical process,hydrometallurgical process,and pyro-hydrometallurgical process,were analyzed.It is indicated that industrialized pyrometallurgical processes are undergoing high energy consumption and pollution such as rotary kiln and rotary hearth furnace process.The vacuum carbothermal reduction process can realize low carbon emission and no waste produced in the process.The hydrometallurgical leaching processes in strong acid,strong alkali,and ammonium solutions result in serious liquid pollution and equipment corrosion.The pyrometallurgical process involves complex kinetics and lacks kinetic research on semi-industrialization and industrialization.Water-soluble components in zinc-bearing dust can be removed by water leaching.The kinetics of the strong acid leaching is mainly controlled by the leaching kinetics of Fe_(2)O_(3) and ZnFe_(2)O_(4),while the alkali leaching and weak acid leaching are controlled by the kinetics of ZnO leaching.Zn in the zincbearing dust can be extracted by a low-temperature sodium roasting–weak acid leaching process that reduces equipment corrosion and environmental pollution.

The steroid-induced microRNA let-7 regulates developmental growth by targeting cdc7 in the Drosophila body

In insects,20-hydroxyecdysone(20E)limits systemic growth by triggering developmental transitions.Previous studies have shown that 20E-induced let-7 exhibits crosstalk with the cell cycle.Here,we examined the underlying molecular mechanisms and physiological functions of 20E-induced let-7 in the fat body,an organ for energy storage and nutrient mobilization which plays a critical role in the larval growth.First,the overexpression of let-7 decreased the body size and led to the reduction of both nucleolus and cell sizes in the larval fat body.In contrast,the overexpression of let-7-Sponge increased the nucleolus and cell sizes.Moreover,we found that cdc7,encoding a conserved protein kinase that controls the endocycle,is a target of let-7.Notably,the mutation of cdc7 in the fat body resulted in growth defects.Overall,our findings revealed a novel role of let-7 in the control of endoreduplication-related growth during larval-prepupal transition in Drosophila.

目的探讨早期间断肠内营养(enteral nutrition,EN)在心脏外科术后重症患者中的应用效果。方法构建心脏外科术后重症患者早期EN喂养方案,前瞻性分析2022年5月至2023年5月上海交通大学医学院附属新华医院心胸外科重症监护室心脏外科术后的重症患者178例,采用随机数字表法将其分为对照组88例和观察组90例,对照组采用常规EN喂养方案,观察组采用早期间断EN喂养方案。比较两组患者EN耐受性指标、喂养中断情况、营养相关结局指标及患者预后指标。结果实施EN期间,观察组腹胀、腹泻、恶心呕吐(或反流)、喂养中断率、中断时间均低于对照组,差异有统计学意义(P0.05)。结论早期间断EN方案可改善患者喂养不耐受症状,减少喂养中断次数及时间,提高心脏外科术后重症患者热卡达标率,改善患者营养状态,促进患者预后及转归。

Elevated-temperature tribological behavior of Ti–B–C–N coatings deposited by reactive magnetron sputtering

Quaternary Ti–B–C–N coatings with various carbon contents were deposited on high-speed steel (HSS) substrates by reactive magnetron sputtering (RMS) system. The elevated-temperature tribological behavior of Ti–B–C–N coatings was explored using pin-on-disk tribometer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The present results show that the steady-state friction coefficient value and the instantaneous friction coefficient fluctuation range of Ti–B–C–N coatings decrease as carbon content increases at 100 and 300°C, while the steady-state friction coefficient value of all Ti–B–C–N coatings becomes higher than 0.4 at 500°C. As ambient temperature increases, the running-in periods of all Ti–B–C–N coatings become shorter. Wear damage to Ti–B–C–N coatings during sliding at elevated temperature is mainly caused by adhesive wear, and adhesive-wear damage to Ti–B–C–N coatings increases as ambient temperature increases; however, higher carbon content is beneficial for decreasing the adhesive-wear damage to Ti–B–C–N coatings during sliding at elevated temperature.

Surface mechanical attrition treatment(SMAT)method is an effective way to generate nanograined(NG)surface on Ti-25 Nb-3 Mo-2 Sn-3 Zr(wt.%)(named as TLM),a kind ofβ-type titanium alloy,and the achieved nanocrystalline surface was proved to promote positive functions of osteoblastic cells.In this work,to further endow the NG TLM alloy with both good osteogenic and antibacterial properties,magnesium(Mg),silver(Ag)ion or both were introduced onto the NG TLM surface by ion implantation process,as a comparison,the Mg and Ag ions were also co-implanted onto coarsegrained(CG)TLM surface.The obtained results show that subsequent ion implantation does not remarkably induce the surface roughness and topography alteration of the SMAT-treated layers,and it also has little impact on the microstructure of the SMAT-derivedβ-Ti nanograins.In addition,the implanted Mg and Ag ions are observed to exist as MgO and metallic Ag na noparticles(NPs)embedding tightly in theβ-Ti matrix with grain size of about 15 and 7 nm,respectively.Initial cell adhesion and functions(including proliferation,osteo-differentiation and extracellular matrix mineralization)of rabbit bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(rBMMSCs)and the bacterial colonization of Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)on the different surfaces were investigated.The in-vitro experimental results reveal that the Mg and Ag single-ion implanted NG surface either significantly promotes the rBMMSCs response or inhibits the growth ofS.aureus,whereas the Mg/Ag coimplanted NG surface could concurrently enhance the rBMMSCs functions as well as inhibit the bacterial growth compared to the NG surface,and this efficacy is more pronounced as compared to the Mg/Ag co-implantation in the CG surface.The SMAT-achieved nanograins in the TLM surface layer are identified to not only play a leading role in determining the fate of rBMMSCs but also facilitate fabricating dualfunctio nal surface with both good osteogenic and antibacterial activities through co-implantation of Mg and Ag ions.Our investigation pr
