Burkholderia(B.)pseudomallei is a Gram-negative bacterium causing melioidosis,a tropical infection that is being recognized as a growing public health problem[1].Melioidosis,with mortality rates ranging from under 10%to 40%,is a significant concern in Southeast Asia,Australia,and beyond[2].The underdiagnosis,particularly in rural areas,emphasizes the need for improved awareness,surveillance,and management,potentially classifying melioidosis as a neglected tropical disease[3].

AIM:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of silicone oil(SO)as a corneal lubricant to improve visualization during ***:Patients who underwent vitreoretinal surgery were divided into two *** 1 was operated on with initial SO(Oxane 5700)as a corneal *** 2 was operated on with initial lactated ringer’s solution(LRS)and then replaced with SO as *** clarity was scored during the *** staining was performed to determine the damage to corneal ***:Totally 114 eyes of 114 patients were *** SO use maintained a clear cornea and provided excellent visualization of surgical *** group 1,the fundus clarity was grade 3 in 41/45 eyes and grade 2 in 4/45 *** group 2,corneal edema frequently occurred after initial LRS *** fundus clarity was grade 3 in 19/69 eyes,2 in 37/69 eyes and 1 in 13/69 eyes(P0.05).CONCLUSION:The use of SO as a corneal lubricant is effective and safe for preserving and improving corneal clarity and providing clear surgical field during vitrectomy.

A molten salt reactor(MSR)has outstanding features considering the application of thorium fuel,inherent safety,sustainability,and resistance to ***,fissile material^(233)U is significantly rare at the current stage,thus it is difficult for MSR to achieve a pure thorium-uranium fuel ***,using plutonium or enriched uranium as the initial fuel for MSR is more *** this study,we aim to verify the feasibility of a small modular MSR that utilizes plutonium as the starting fuel(SM-MSR-Pu),and highlight its advantages and ***,the structural design and fuel management scheme of the SM-MSR-Pu were ***,the neutronic characteristics,such as the graphite-irradiation lifetime,burn-up performance,and coefficient of temperature reactivity were calculated to analyze the physical characteristics of the *** results indicate that plutonium is a feasible and advantageous starting fuel for a SM-MSR;however,there are certain shortcomings that need to be *** a 250 MWth SM-MSR-Pu,approximately 288.64 kg^(233)U of plutonium with a purity of greater than 90% is produced while 978.00 kg is burned every ten *** temperature reactivity coefficient decreases from -4.0 to -6.5 pcm K^(-1) over the 50-year operating time,which ensures a long-term safe ***,the amount of plutonium and accumulation of minor actinides(MAs)would increase as the burn-up time increases,and the annual production and purity of^(233)U will *** achieve an optimal burn-up performance,setting the entire operation time to 30 years is ***,more than 3600 kg of plutonium eventually accumulate in the *** research is required to effectively utilize this accumulated plutonium.

Penpulimab is an anti-programmed cell death-1(PD-1)IgG1 antibody with no Fc gamma receptor(FcγR)binding activity,and thus theoretically reduced immune-related adverse events(irAEs)while maintaining *** single-arm,phase II trial conducted across 20 tertiary care centers in China enrolled adult patients with metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)who had failed two or more lines of previous systemic *** received 200-mg penpulimab intravenously every 2 weeks(4 weeks per cycle)until disease progression or intolerable *** primary endpoint was objective response rate(ORR)per RECIST(version 1.1),as assessed by an independent radiological review *** secondary endpoints included progression-free survival(PFS)and overall survival(OS).One hundred thirty patients were enrolled and 125 were efficacy *** the data cutoff date(September 28,2022),1 patient achieved complete response and 34 patients attained partial *** ORR was 28.0%(95%CI 20.3–36.7%).The response was durable,with 66.8%still in response at 9 ***-three patients(26.4%)were still on *** median PFS and OS were 3.6 months(95%CI=1.9–7.3 months)and 22.8 months(95%CI=17.1 months to not reached),***(7.6%)patients experienced grade 3 or higher *** has promising anti-tumor activities and acceptable toxicities in heavily pretreated metastatic NPC patients,supporting further clinical development as third-line treatment of metastatic NPC.
