The current climate and energy crisis urgently needs solar cells with efficiencies above the 29% single junction efficiency ***/perovskite tandem solar cells are a solution,which is attracting much *** silicon/perovskite tandem cells in 2-terminal and 4-terminal configurations are well documented,the three-terminal concept is still in its *** has significant advantages under low light intensities as opposed to concentrated sunlight,which is the critical factor in designing tandem solar cells for low-cost terrestrial *** study pre-sents novel studies of the sub-cell performance of the first three-terminal perovskite/silicon selective band offset barrier tandem solar cells fabricated in an ongoing research *** study focuses on short circuit current and operating voltages of the subcells under light intensities of one sun and *** studies show that the perovskite bulk carrier lifetime is insensitive to illumination,while the silicon cell's lifetime decreases with decreasing light *** combination of perovskite and silicon in the 3T perovskite-silicon tandem therefore reduces the sensitivity of V_(OC) to light intensity and maintains a relatively higher V_(OC) down to low light intensities,whereas silicon single-junction cells show a marked *** technological advantage is proposed as a novel advantage of three-terminal perovkite/silicon solar cells for low light intensities of one sun or less.

The task of predicting what Gastroenterology and Hepatology may look like in the coming century is a great personal challenge and at the same time an awe-inspiring assignment. Not only have these two medical specialties become very large and diversified but there are so many new discoveries and ideas that it is a capricious undertaking to attempt fore-telling which of them may become part of the next century′s medical practice. I therefore will take the personal privilege of being highly selective, choosing only topics for discussion which I believe have a distinct potential of generating novel scientific concepts, fresh approaches or new therapeutic modalities.

Motion Responses Analysis for Tidal Current Energy Platform: QuadSpar and Catamaran Types

ωOne approach to support floating tidal current turbines is by using a moored catamaran, a barge type *** its low draft, one might expect that it performs best at typical straits with sea states of small wavelets to small waves. The problem is that the high rotational motion responses of the catamaran due to wave loads tend to reduce the turbine performance. This paper looks for a possibility to deteriorate these rotational responses by introducing a platform with four buoyant legs referred to as a quad-spar considering its good stability *** platforms are moored by four catenary cables as their mooring system. The motion response modeling was undertaken by Computational Fluid Dynamic(CFD) simulation based on three-dimensional potential flow *** sea states of straits with typical tidal current energy potentials, the environmental load was set on random wave with the significant wave height, Hs, of about 0.09 to 1.5 m and the wave period, T, of about 1.5 to 6 s corresponding to the wave frequency,, of about 1.1 to 4.2 rad/s. This study found that lower motion responses can be satisfied by the quad-spar, in which its yaw, roll and pitch responses are on average about 5%, 44%, and 38%,respectively, compared to those of the catamaran. This result indicates that the quad-spar is more effective in reducing rotational motion responses needed to keep a high performance of the tidal current energy system.

Interleukin-10 multitasking in allergic airway inflammation

Allergic asthma reflects an imbalance of pro-and anti-inflammatory components of the immune system,and in asthma patients,endogenous mechanisms that maintain homeostasis in the lung are thought to be ***-10 is recognized as an important anti-inflammatory cytokine that suppresses the activity of many innate and adaptive immune *** variants in the IL10 locus are associated with increased asthma prevalence in adults,and patients with severe asthma are more likely to have the low IL-10-producing haplotype[3].Accordingly,compared with healthy controls,patients with asthma were reported to have reduced IL-10 levels in bronchoalveolar lavage(BAL)fluid and alveolar macrophages[4].Other groups,however,observed increased or unchanged levels of IL-10 in patients[5,6].The anti-inflammatory function of IL-10 was demonstrated in various mouse models in which eosinophilic airway inflammation was inhibited by exogenous IL-10 and enhanced by IL-10 deficiency[6].In HDM-driven airway inflammation models,IL-10 was shown to exert direct effects on Th2 cells and to improve the balance between regulatory T cells and Th17 cells[7,8].However,it was also reported that IL-10 does not affect eosinophilic inflammation and that IL-10 could promote allergen-induced airway hyperresponsiveness[9,10].Therefore,it can be concluded that data on the role of IL-10 in asthma are rather contradictory,which is likely caused by the nature of the allergen used,allergen dose,and the protocols of sensitization and *** fact that IL-10 is produced by almost every cell type of the immune system makes it even more challenging to unravel its role in allergic airway *** this issue of ***.,Qian et *** a remarkable pro-inflammatory role of B cell-derived IL-10[11].They employ mice that are deficient in Bcl-3,a regulator of NF-κB that was previously linked to the regulation of Il10 gene expression in T lymphocytes[12].In contrast to classical,cytoplasmic IκB f

Efficiently Improving Ensemble Forecasts of Warm-Sector Heavy Rainfall over Coastal Southern China: Targeted Assimilation to Reduce the Critical Initial Field Errors

Warm-sector heavy rainfall events over southern China are difficult to accurately forecast, due in part to inaccurate initial fields in numerical weather prediction models. In order to determine an efficient way of reducing the critical initial field errors, this study conducts and compares two sets of 60-member ensemble forecast experiments of a warm-sector heavy rainfall event over coastal southern China without data assimilation(NODA) and with radar radial velocity data assimilation(RadarDA). Yangjiang radar data, which can provide offshore high-resolution wind field information, were assimilated by using a Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF)-based ensemble Kalman filter(EnKF) system. The results show that the speed and direction errors of the southeasterly airflow in the marine boundary layer over the northern South China Sea may primarily be responsible for the forecast errors in rainfall and convection evolution. Targeted assimilation of radial velocity data from the Yangjiang radar can reduce the critical initial field errors of most members, resulting in improvements to the ensemble forecast. Specifically, RadarDA simulations indicate that radial-velocity data assimilation(VrDA) can directly reduce the initial field errors in wind speed and direction, and indirectly and slightly adjust the initial moisture fields in most members, thereby improving the evolution features of moisture transport during the subsequent forecast period. Therefore, these RadarDA members can better capture the initiation and development of convection and have higher forecast skill for the convection evolution and rainfall. The improvement in the deterministic forecasts of most members results in an improved overall ensemble forecast performance. However, VrDA sometimes results in inappropriate adjustment of the initial wind field,so the forecast skill of a few members decreases rather than increases after VrDA. A comparison of two kinds of eastward-moving mesoscale vortices during the mei-yu period of 2010

During the mei-yu period,the east edge of the Tibetan Plateau and the Dabie Mountain are two main sources of eastward-moving mesoscale vortices along the mei-yu front(MYF).In this study,an eastward-moving southwest vortex(SWV) and an eastward-moving Dabie vortex(DBV) during the mei-yu period of 2010 have been investigated to clarify the main similarities and differences between *** synoptic analyses reveal that the SWV and DBV were both located at the lower troposphere;however,the SWV developed in a "from top down" trend,whereas the DBV developed in an opposite *** were obvious surface closed low centers corresponding to the DBV during its life span,whereas for the SWV,the closed low center only appeared at the mature *** and warm air intersected intensely after the formation of both the vortices,and the cold advection in the SWV case was stronger than that in the DBV case,whereas the warm advection in the DBV case was more intense than that in the SWV *** Bay of Bengal and the South China Sea were main moisture sources for the SWV,whereas for the DBV,in addition to the above two moisture sources,the East China Sea was also an important moisture *** vorticity budget indicates that the convergence was the most important common factor conducive to the formation,development,and maintenance of the SWV and DBV,whereas the conversion from the vertical vorticity to the horizontal one(tilting) was the most important common factor caused the dissipation of both of the *** kinetic energy(KE) budget reveals that the KE generation by the rotational wind was the dominant factor for the enhancement of KE associated with the SWV,whereas for the DBV,the KE transport by the rotational wind was more important than the KE *** KE associated with the SWV and the DBV weakened with different mechanisms during the decaying ***,the characteristics of baroclinic and barotropic energy conversions during the life spans of both vor

Number of holes and blades to control the performance of aquaculture aerator

Water quality determines the success of inland *** factor determining water quality is the concentration of dissolved oxygen(DO).To find effective paddlewheel aerators to enhance DO concentration,nine model aerators were examined:aerator 4 blades,6 blades and 8 blades with variations of 12 holes per blade,16 holes per blade and 20 holes per *** were rotated at 80 RPM,100 RPM,120 RPM and 140 *** results show the higher the rotation speed is,the bigger the increment of DO concentration is,but their relationship is not *** is a condition when increasing rotation does not affect the DO concentration *** results also indicate the greater number of blades increase more DO *** results also suggest the greater number of holes per blade initially increase DO concentration increment,but after 16 holes the increment tends to *** is predicted owing to that widening surface interaction due to the holes in the blade is taken over by reducing the volume of splashed *** this research,likely the aerator with 8 blades,16 holes per blade and rotated at 120 RPM is the optimum one to increase DO ***,if the energy consumption is also the concern,the aerator with 6 blades and 16 holes per blade likely is the better choice.
