AIM: To investigate the applic.tions of hydrogen sulfide(H2 S) in eye-spec.fic.ailments in ***: Heterozygous c.stathionine-β-synthase(c.S+/-) and wild-type c.7 BL/6 J(WT) mic. fed with or without high methionine diet(HMD) were administered either phosphate buffered saline(PBS) or the slow-release H2 S donor: GYY4137. Several analyses were performed to study GYY4137 effec.s by examining retinal lysates for key protein expressions along with plasma glutamate and glutathione estimations. Intraoc.lar pressure(IOP) was monitored during GYY4137 treatment; barium sulfate and bovine serum albumin c.njugated fluoresc.in isothioc.anate(BSA-FITc. angiographies were performed for examining vasc.lature and its permeability post-treatment. Visionguided behavior was also tested employing novel objec. rec.gnition test(NORT) and light-dark box test(LDBT) ***: c.S defic.enc.(c.S+/-) c.upled with HMD led disruption of methionine/homoc.steine(Hc.) metabolism leading to hyperhomoc.steinemia(HHc.) in c.S+/-mic. as reflec.ed by inc.eased Hc., and s-adenosylhomoc.steine hydrolase(SAHH) levels. Unlike c.S, c.stathionine-γ lyase(c.E), methylenetetrahydrofolate reduc.ase(MTHFR) levels whic. were reduc.d but c.mpensated by GYY4137intervention. Heightened oxidative and endoplasmic.retic.lum(ER) stress responses were mitigated by GYY4137 effec.s along with enhanc.d glutathione(GSH) levels. The use of the residues from renewable feedstoc., besides the produc.ion of fuels, but also for the generation of other c.emic.ls produc.s, has bec.me a priority. Superior plants have c.nsiderable potential as c.rbohydrate, aryl and fatty ac.ds sourc.s. However, the separation of the main c.nstituents of the samples is nec.ssary for several purposes in the biorefinery c.nc.pt. The ac.d hydrolysis and pyrolysis proc.sses are very promising tec.nology, however, some adjustments in the c.nditions of pyrolysis are needed for different biomasses sinc. c.rbohydrates were detec.ed （14%-17%） in the residues after the c.nventional ac.d hydrolysis of these unc.mmon biomasses （c.ffee husk and banana stem and stalk）. On the other hand, it was showed that, by pyrolysis, it is possible to obtain from the solid residue after ac.d hydrolysis： pyrogenic.c.rbon （c.arc.al with a yield of 48.5%-52.7%） for agric.lture use （bioc.ar） and valuable c.emic.ls in the pyrolysis oil biooil frac.ion （that ac.ounted by 26.4%-29.0%, free of water）, suc. as lignin monomers （32.6%-56.4% of the bio-oil） and fatty ac.ds （30%-52.5%）.

Aims Understanding the fac.ors that c.ntrol biodiversity distributions at different spatial sc.les has been a key c.allenge for c.nservation *** biodiversity,reflec.ed in differenc.s in spec.es c.mpositions among sites(beta diversity),c.n be derived from spec.es replac.ment(turnover)and is driven by multiple ***,we sought to tac.le this issue through two questions related to threatened Brazilian seasonally dry forests:(i)what is the c.ntribution of spec.es turnover to beta diversity?and(ii)whic. fac.ors drive variations in spec.es c.mpositions among forest patc.es?Methods We sampled tree spec.es and environmental variables(soils and c.imate)in 17 dry forest patc.es spac.d almost 300 km *** used the beta diversity partitioning framework to determine the c.ntribution of *** used redundanc. analysis,with properly c.ntrolled spatial struc.ure,to assess the c.ntributions of the environmental and spatial fac.ors to the variations of the spec.es *** Findings Beta diversity among the patc.es was mainly represented by the turnover c.mponent(98.2%),with Simpson dissimilarity superior to other regions of the c.untry(means of 0.89 and 0.71 in multiple site and pairwise measures,respec.ively).The environmental fac.ors measured explained more than spac.,representing 30.3%of the variation of the spec.es c.mposition,of whic. 28.1%was nonspatially *** suggest that 300 km represents a threshold at whic. edaphic.and c.imatic.predic.ors have similar effec.s in determining c.mmunity turnover(14.9%and 12.6%,respec.ively,without spatial struc.ure).Thus,c.nservation strategies should be c.nsidered ac.oss landsc.pes to effec.ively protec. tropic.l forest diversity,as even c.nsidering the different c.imatic.aspec.s c.vered by the sc.le,landsc.ped edaphic.varieties are important drivers of spec.es turnover.

The aim of this study is to desc.ibe the sedimentary evolution oc.urred during the last 200-years in the middle c.pibaribe Estuary by mean of the sedimentary analysis (magnetic.susc.ptibility, grain size, c.lc.um c.rbonate, total organic.matter—TOM) and geoc.emic.l parameters (sedimentation rates, heavy metal c.nc.ntrations, enric.ment and c.ntamination fac.or) along a c.re. The c.re rec.rded four units and the measured sedimentation rate was 0.52 c. c.·y﹣1. The first unit, dating before 1812, showed environmental c.arac.eristic. of mangrove with predominanc. of fine sediments, high total organic.matter perc.ntages and heavy metal c.nc.ntrations probably from natural sourc.s. The sec.nd unit, from 1812 to 1937, showed a slight inc.ease in sand perc.ntages and dec.ease in fine frac.ion, TOM c.ntents and heavy metals c.nc.ntrations. These c.arac.eristic. may be assoc.ated with the urban expansion proc.sses and the presenc. of monoc.lture of sugar c.ne oc.urred in the middle c.pibaribe Estuary. The third unit, from 1937 to 2004, showed the highest sand perc.ntages of the c.re, c.arac.erizing a unit exc.usively of sand with low fine frac.ions perc.ntages, total organic.matter c.ntents and heavy metals c.nc.ntrations. This unit represented the intensific.tion of the urban proc.sses expansion of Rec.fe c.ty. The fourth unit showed inc.eases in fine frac.ion sedimentation, TOM c.ntents and heavy metals c.nc.ntrations. This new c.ange in sedimentation probably is c.nsequenc. of rebirth of marginal estuarine banks by mangrove vegetation, due to environmental projec.s c.rried out by Rec.fe Prefec.ure in the early 2000’s. It was not possible to register the anthropic.c.ntamination to middle estuary area probably due to the Barreiras Formation influenc.s in the metal c.nc.ntration rec.rds, masking the anthropic.c.ntamination inputs in estuarine region. Although, lead and arsenic.showing an enric.ment level indic.ting anthropic.c.ntamination.

Shifts in hydrologic.l regimes alter river flow rates and flood pulses, dec.ease environmental heterogeneity and the floristic.struc.ural c.mplexity of assoc.ated plant c.mmunities. We tested the hypothesis that drought events affec. plant c.mmunity c.mposition and struc.ure at a small-sc.le within a riparian fragment towards a reduc.ion in floristic.struc.ural c.mplexity. The tree c.mmunity was sampled in three habitats (wet, transitional and dry) and monitored in seven inventories c.rried out between 1991 and 2018. Hydrologic.l variations were evaluated through annual rainfalls, river flow rates and water level data. The spec.es ric.ness and the detrended c.rrespondenc. analysis axes were used to c.arac.erise the temporal modific.tions in floristic.c.mposition. c.mmunity struc.ure was desc.ibed in terms of biomass: ac.umulated, growth of survivors, mortality and rec.uitment. Generalised linear mixed models were fitted to evaluate the effec.s of time and environment in c.mmunity. It was c.nc.uded that the c.imate has bec.me drier in rec.nt years due to dec.ining prec.pitation that has affec.ed flow rates and water levels. The floristic.struc.ural c.mplexity of the study fragment was maintained during the monitoring period. However, prolonged and extreme drought events displayed the potential to impac. floristic.struc.ural patterns.
