The introduction and advancement of strain engineering has been one of the most critical features for the state-of-the-art nanoscale CMOS transistors. This paper provides an overview of the major strain engineering techniques that have remarkably re-shaped the advanced CMOS transistor architecture, including embedded SiGe (eSiGe), embedded Si:C (eSi:C), stress memorization technique (SMT), dual stress liners (DSL), and stress proximity technique (SPT). The advent of high-K/metal-gate (HKMG) also brings in additional strain benefit with its metal gate stressor (MGS) and replacement gate (RMG) process. Strain engineering continues to evolve and will remain to be one of the key performance enablers for the future generation of CMOS technologies.

Effects of Electric Field on the Electronic Structures in Electroluminescent Polymers

The effects of the electric field on the electronic structures in electroluminescent polymers were studied with the tight-binding model including electron-phonon interactions plus an applied electric field. It is found that the applied electric field changes both the energy levels and the electronic wavefunctions in electroluminescent polymers: applied field induces two localized electronic states near the midgap, and also polarizes these localized electronic states, so the polarization occurs at weak or moderate fields. In addition, the strong field will dissociate a bipolaron exciton and lead to photoluminescence quenching.

INTRODUCTIONHepatitis E virus (HEV) is transmitted through a fecal-oral route［1］. HEV induces acute hepatitis and is responsible for a significant portion of the fulminant hepatitis in epidemic and sporadic cases, especially in the mixed infection patients and women in their third trimester of pregnancy［1］. It has been reported that HEV infection is more prevalent in underdeveloped and developing countries in Asia, Africa, and Central America, but is rare in developed countries［1］. In China, a large outbreak occurred between 1986 and 1988 in Xinjiang, and sporadic spread was often found in other regions.

The photoelectrochemical behaviour of the multilayer semiconductive electrode(GaAs/AlxGa1-xAs)with the structure of N+NP and N+NPP was studied in Na2SO4 solution. Compared with single kind semiconductor electrode, the commposite one has broader photoresponse spectral region and larger open-circuit photovoltage,consequently gives higher solar energy conversion efficiency.

Self-assembly of octadecyl mercaptan on gold was investigated by cyclic voltammetry(CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Results of CV experiments show thatthere are no structUral defects exposed directly to the redox couple in solution, but EISexperiments indicate that collapsed sites exist in the monolayer. A method to estimate the degree ofdisorder in the Au/thiol monolayer surface is proposed by using admittance plane plot.
