Applicability of unique scarf joint configuration in friction stir welding of AA6061-T6:Analysis of torque,force,microstructure and mechanical properties

The present research introduces a unique concept of scarf joint technique in friction stir welding(FSW) of aluminum alloy AA 6061-T6 plates and an investigation on weld quality.A new joint configuration with two distinct scarf angles(75°and 60°) was considered in this *** various aspects of welding were compared with contemporary simple square butt(SSB) joint *** was carried out at a constant tool rotation speed(TRS),tool traverse speed(TTS) and tool tilt angle of 1100 rpm,2 mm/s and2°,*** results are analyzed in terms of force and torque distribution,microstructure,macrostructure,and mechanical property perspective for different joint *** study reveals the minimum amount of force and torque at 60°scarf angle joint configuration compared to that of square butt joint *** study shows that all the joints were defect-free,and a prominent onion ring was present in the lower portion of the weld nugget(WN).Fine equiaxed grains with a minimum average grain size diameter of 6.82 μm were obtained in the WN of scarf joint configuration(SJC).The maximum ultimate tensile strength(UTS) and maximum average NZ hardness of 267 MPa and83.82 HV0.1were obtained in SJC3 at a scarf angle of 60°.It has been observed from the investigation that the joint efficiency increases from 72.5%(SSB) to 86%(SJC3) at a 60° scarf *** unique characteristic may lay an impetus on probable joint strength enhancement technique without increasing the production cost.

Probing the compound effect of spatially varying intrinsic defects and doping on mechanical properties of hybrid graphene monolayers

Doping in pristine 2 D materials brings about the advantage of modulating wide range of mechanical properties ***,intrinsic defects(such as Stone-Wales and nanopore) in such hybrid materials are inevitable due to complex manu facturing and synthesis *** that,de fects and irregularities can be intentionally induced in a pristine nanostructure for multi-synchronous modulation of various multi-functional *** the case may be,in order to realistically analyse a doped graphene sheet,it is of utmost importance to investigate the compound effect of doping and defects in such 2 D *** we present a molecular dynamics based investigation for probing mechanical properties(such as Young’s modulus,post-elastic behaviour,failure strength and strain)of doped graphene(C14 and Si) coupling the effect of inevitable *** sensitivity of defect and doping are systematically analyzed considering different rational *** study reveals the effects of individual defects and doping along with their possible compounded influences on the failure stress,failure strain,Young’s modulus and constitutive relations beyond the elastic *** detailed mechanical characterization under the practically relevant compound effects would allow us to access the viability of adopting doped graphene in various multifunctional nanoelectromechanical devices and systems in a realistic situation.

Both internal and external damping are concurrently present in a rotor ***,the internal damping that originates from various sources often leads to instability in the rotor system,and hence its accurate estimation is *** goal of the present paper is to distinctly estimate both external and internal damping in a Jeffcott rotor containing transverse *** modelling of the fatigue crack is based on the assumption of a switching crack,which additionally provides the internal damping due to rubbing on crack faces,which is hardly addressed in ***,the fatigue crack leads to the forward and backward whirls due to asymmetry in the *** the process of development of the identification procedure in the form of the regression equation for the estimation of internal damping,other important unknown rotor system parameters,like the external damping,unbalance and loss of stiffness of the shaft due to the crack,are also *** reduces the estimation error of the internal damping due to reduction in deviations of other model *** simulated responses are obtained from equations of motion of the rotor system in the form of a closed-form expression and by the Runge-Kutta integration *** full-spectrum response data(both magnitude and phase)are utilized during the testing of the proposed identification *** corrections have been incorporated in the *** noise is added in numerical responses during identification of parameters to check the robustness of the algorithm and found to be working satisfactorily.

Aims Deforestation and biodiversity loss are two alarming,closely related problems,and the main factors triggering changes in land *** agricultural practices in the western Amazon Basin are known as chakras,and their structure and dynamics are seemingly optimal for forest ***,the variability in tree spe-cies and the degree of forest recovery after abandonment is poorly documented in this agroforestry system(AFS).The goals of this study were:(i)to investigate whether the different AFSs(chakras)preserve similar levels of forest diversity,(ii)to determine the effect of trans-formation of mature forests(MF)to chakras,in particular,forest alpha and beta diversity levels,and(iii)to investigate whether native tree species recovery leads to the original forest structure following chakra *** We assessed the floristic composition in three AFSs(cassava,corn,and cocoa),the secondary forest(SF),and the forest remnants in the buffer zone of the Northern ecuadorian Amazon(NeA).All tree spe-cies with a diameter at breast height(dbh)≥10 cm were inventoried in 61 plots(0.28 ha average)representing 17.44 *** diversity was calculated in all systems to determine the levels of variabil-ity using species richness and the Shannon diversity ***,beta diversity was examined to evaluate the degree of dissimilarity among all AFSs with the MF in order to analyze changes in floristic *** divergence between the SF and the MF was ana-lyzed to ascertain forest recovery after chakra *** Findings A total of 4,060 trees(dbh≥10 cm)representing 109 species,96 genera,and 43 plant families were inventoried in 17.44 ha sampled in five systems in the buffer zone of the *** most dominant plant families were Arecaceae,Myristicaceae,Fabaceae,Meliaceae,and Malvaceae,and the most representative genera included Iriartea,Virola,Guarea,Ocotea,Cordia,Chrysophyllum,and *** MF in this zone is composed of 81 tree species circums

Colonoscopic polypectomy in anticoagulated patients

AIM:To review our experience performing polypectomy in anticoagulated patients without interruption of ***: Retrospective chart review at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System. Two hundred and twenty five polypectomies were performed in 123 patients. Patients followed a standardized protocol that included stopping warfarin for 36 h to avoid supratherapeutic anticoagulation from the bowel preparation. Patients with lesions larger than 1 cm were generally rescheduled for polypectomy off warfarin. endoscopic clips were routinely applied prophylactically. ReSULTS: One patient (0.8%, 95% CI: 0.1%-4.5%) developed major post-polypectomy bleeding that required transfusion. Two others (1.6%, 95% CI: 0.5%-5.7%) had self-limited hematochezia at home and did not seek medical attention. The average polyp size was 5.1 ± 2.2 mm. CONCLUSION: Polypectomy can be performed in therapeutically anticoagulated patients with lesions up to 1 cm in size with an acceptable bleeding rate.

Callovian-Oxfordian hecticoceratins from western India:Their biostratigraphic and palaeobiogeographic implications

The Kutch Basin of western India is famous for its rich assemblages of the Callovian-Oxfordian *** family Oppelidae Douvillé is the second most diverse ammonite group after perisphinctids during the Middle-Upper *** is the most diverse subfamily within Oppelidae and has wide palaeobiogeographic(near cosmopolitan) and temporal distributions(Bathonian-Oxfordian).Some species were well timediagnostic and thus help in interprovincial *** taxonomy of the subfamily Hecticoceratinae of Kutch was in a state of flux until *** was not revised since Spath’s(1927-1933) great *** genera and species were morphogenera or morphospecies and they again suffer from excessive subjective *** was therefore badly needed for a comprehensive taxonomic revision of the subfamily with modern aspects of systematics i.e.,sexual dimorphism and population dynamics.A lithostratigraphic framework has already been well documented in the Kutch Basin of western India.A high resolution biostratigraphy incorporating stage-intrastage fossil assemblages have been used in interbasinal correlation based on the Callovian-Oxfordian *** cosmopolitan distribution of many hecticoceratin genera were widely used for biostratigraphic zonation as well as an understanding of the palaeobiogeographic *** phylogeny of the subfamily Hecticoceratinae has been used to construct the cladograms depicting area relationships among different provinces during the Callovian-Oxfordian.

exploring the merits of geographical diversification of solar PV power plants for a resilient PV-dominated electricity grid in India

India is highly dependent on solar photovoltaics(PV)to harness its vast solar resource potential and combat climate ***,∼90%of the installed PV capacity in India is concentrated in the top nine states,with the remaining states lagging *** research reveals that during monsoons,heavy cloud cover and rain lead to high solar resource variability,intermittency and the risk of very low PV generation,which can result in reliability issues in future PV-dominated electricity *** energy storage can help in overcoming high intermittency,there are multiple challenges associated with *** novelty of this study lies in demonstrating the benefits of combining multiple PV sites in various regions to mitigate the risks of low PV generation and high *** variability of individual sites was found to be up to∼3.5 times higher than the variability of combined *** noon,prominent solar park sites like Bhadla and NP Kunta experience a decrease in power generation to values as low as∼10%of the rated PV ***,the minimum generation of the large-scale dispersed PV generation is>30%.Furthermore,the research identifies other benefits of dispersing PV generation across the country,viz.,reduction of seasonal variability by adding PV capacity in the southern region,widening of the PV generation span,more room for PV capacity addition,reduction in storage and ramping needs,utilization of hydroelectric potential of the north-east and PV potential of Ladakh,and creating opportunities for sustainable development in rural agrarian regions through agrivoltaics.
