This study is an extension of the previous work done with ARS-680 environmental Chamber. Drying is a complex operation that demands much energy and time. Drying is essentially important for preservation of ginger rhizome. Drying of ginger was modeled, and then the effective diffusion coefficient and activation energy were determined. For this purpose, the experiments were done at six levels of varied temperatures: 10°C, 20°C, 30°C, 40°C, 50°C and 60°C. The values of effective diffusion coefficients obtained in this work for the variously treated ginger rhizomes closely agreed with the average effective diffusion coefficients of other notable authors who determined the drying kinetics and convective heat transfer coefficients of ginger slices.

To meet the rapidly increasing demand for energy and the dramatic depletion of conventional crude oil,it is imperative to utilize sour *** no coke being produced,oxidative desulfurization(ODS)of naphtha lowers its sulfur content and average molecular *** this article,we outline a method for heavy naphtha non-extractive ODS using a very stable *** technique involves the use of a solid catalyst with oxygen gas as the *** necessitated relatively high mixing intensities;hence a three-phase Oscillatory Baffled Reactor(OBR)was *** catalyst was based on the zeolite ZSM-5,prepared from natural kaolin by a series of delamination and activation steps and impregnated with Fe.A TiO2 nanolayer was applied,using the sol-gel method,to prevent rapid *** reactor performance was evaluated to minimize the sulfur content in the naphtha *** to the protective coating,the sulfur conversion stabilized at 90%.The results of this work establish the use of natural clay-based catalysts in a continuous,three-phase ODS,particularly with regard to proving long-term *** also showed that modest ODS can be achieved using an environmentally friendly oxidant,at mild operating conditions,whilst maintaining stability.

Obesity is a big problem which is growing. Thus clinicians and surgeons are likely to treat obese patients more frequently. Obesity can affect medical practice in a number of ways. In order to protect ourselves from potential litigation, we need to focus on risk management efforts on creating a safe environment for patients of all sizes. The aim of our study was to review the risk management strategies of obese women prior to surgery, perioperatively and following surgery. We then identified the strategies and have brought them forward in our article.

This paper addresses the question of how to support the designer with appropriate knowledge during conceptual design. It begins with a discussion of knowledge-based support for design and is followed by a scenario account of the use of a Knowledge Support System. A system is described that demonstrates interaction with different forms of knowledge in concept vehicle *** supports the creation of new designs by way of a solution generation and evaluation process that relies upon co-operation between the designer and the knowledge system. The results of user evaluation gave rise to a current research agenda which addresses the requirements of a multi-user platform for a design knowledge support environment for collaborative team work.

The efficacy of ethanol extracts from four plants, Dennettia tripetala Baker, eugenia aromatica Baillon, Piper guineense Thonn et Schum and Anchomanes difformis P. Beauv. as bioinsecticides for control of adult Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky, Tribolium castaneum Herbst, Callosobruchus maculatus Fabricius, Oryzaephilus mercator Fauvel and Lasioderma serricorne Fabricius were determined at two concentrations (0.5% and 2.0%) in the laboratory. All extracts were toxic to beetles with e. aromatica being the most potent of four plant materials tested and had the least LT 50 value. This was followed by A. difformis extract. At 2.0% v/w extract concentration, percentage grain damage by insects in treated grains stored for 90 days was nil. Grains protected with A. difformis had the least percentage seedgerminationof62.50%***(74.58%)at2.0% extract concentration. The mean percentage germination in the control was 72.72%. Treatment of grains with plant extracts had no significant (P>0.05) effect on its water absorption capacity.

An extension of the simply-typed lambda calculus with constructs for expressing a notion calledunderdeterminism is studied. This allows us to interpret notions of stub and skeleton used in top-down program development. We axiomatise a simple notion of program refinement, and give a semantics, for which the calculus is proved sound and complete.

A simple optical technique based on fluctuations in light transmitted through flowing suspensions has proved useful in two distinct water treatment applications. The first of these is the monitoring and control of coagulation/flocculation processes, where information on optimum coagulant dosages as well as on the dynamics of floc formation can be derived. The method is suitable for a very wide range of particle concentrations, up to levels found in highly turbid river waters. The second application is as a very sensitive monitor of particles in filtered water. Such monitoring can help to ensure the effective removal of pathogens such as Cryptosporidium from drinking water. Brief accounts of these techniques are given, together with some examples of their use.

Themass production and the practical number of cryogenic quantum devices producible in a single chip are limited to the number of electrical contact pads and wiring of the cryostat or dilution *** is,therefore,beneficial to contrast themeasurements of hundreds of devices fabricated in a single chip in one cooldown process to promote the scalability,integrability,reliability,and reproducibility of quantum devices and to save evaluation time,cost and ***,we used a cryogenic on-chip multiplexer architecture and investigated the statistics of the 0.7 anomaly observed on the first three plateaus of the quantized conductance of semiconductor quantum point contact(QPC)*** single chips contain 256 split gate field-effect QPC transistors(QFeT)each,with two 16-branch multiplexed source-drain and gate pads,allowing individual transistors to be selected,addressed and controlled through an electrostatic gate voltage process.A total of 1280 quantum transistors with nano-scale dimensions are patterned in 5 different chips of GaAs *** the measurements of 571 functioning QFeTs taken at temperatures T[1.4 K and T[40 mK,it is found that the spontaneous polarisation model and Kondo effect do not fit our ***,some of the features in our data largely agreed with van Hove model with short-range *** approach provides further insight into the quantum mechanical properties and microscopic origin of the 0.7 anomaly in QFeTs,paving the way for the development of semiconducting quantum circuits and integrated cryogenic electronics,for scalable quantum logic control,readout,synthesis,and processing applications.

The number of cars is increasing rapidly in most cities around the world including those in China. Access to a car increases the range of opportunities available and confers status. The construction of cars can also be a major contributor to a national economy and provide many jobs. However, mass car ownership brings many problems including environmental damage, resource depletion, congestion and inequality. In this paper the nature of urban transport problems in general is examined, and then the extent to which these are applicable in Chinese cities is considered. Then the future of transport in such cities is considered using some projections by the World Bank. It is shown that the problems will become much worse if no policy intervention occurs, but even with significant investment, the quality of the environment will deteriorate.
